Frequently Asked Questions - ROG Strix Arion ASUS

What SSDs are compatible with the ROG Strix Arion?

It supports M.2 PCIe (NVMe) SSDs only, in sizes 2280, 2260, 2242, and 2230. SATA-based M.2 SSDs are not compatible.

How do I initialize a brand new SSD in the Arion?

After installing the SSD, connect the Arion to your PC. Right-click the Start menu, select Disk Management, locate the unallocated disk, right-click and choose New Simple Volume. Follow the wizard to format the drive.

What is the maximum transfer speed?

Up to 10 Gbps when connected to a USB 3.2 Gen 2 port. Actual speed depends on your SSD and system configuration.

Can I use the Arion with a USB 2.0 port?

Yes, it is backward compatible with USB 3.2 Gen 1 and USB 2.0, but speeds will be limited to the port's maximum.

Does the Arion support Aura Sync lighting?

Yes, it features Aura RGB lighting. To customize or synchronize with other Aura devices, install the Aura Sync Utility from the ASUS website.

Is the ROG Strix Arion compatible with gaming consoles?

It can be used with devices that support USB mass storage. For PS5 and Xbox, it may work for storing games but may not support all features due to file system differences.

How do I install the SSD into the enclosure?

Remove the thumb screw, slide the cover off, insert the M.2 SSD at a 30-degree angle, then press down and secure with the included screw. Replace the cover and tighten the thumb screw.

What should I do if my computer does not detect the Arion?

Check the USB connection, try a different port or cable. Ensure the SSD is properly installed. If new, you may need to initialize the disk in Disk Management as described.

Can I use the Arion with both USB-C and USB-A ports?

The enclosure has a USB-C connector. It typically comes with a USB-C to C and a USB-C to A cable for compatibility with both types of ports.

Does the Arion support hardware encryption?

No built-in hardware encryption. It relies on the SSD's own capabilities or software encryption (e.g., BitLocker) provided by your operating system.

If you are using a brand new SSD, you may need to follow the steps below for the PC to display the ROG Strix Arion's disk.

• Please install your new SSD into the ROG Strix Arion, then plug it into the PC via a USB port.
• Right click "Start menu" -> "Disk Management"
• If your PC detects a new blank SSD on the ROG Strix Arion, an "unallocated" partition will appear.
• The "unallocated" partition might not appear for your new blank SSD due to the following reasons:

- Your SSD may have already been formatted.

- Your new blank SSD is not being detected by the PC, please make sure the ROG Strix Arion is properly connected to the PC.

• Right-click on the unallocated partition and select "New Simple Volume" to start the New Simple Volume Wizard.
• Specify the desired size of the partition (you may also choose to use the default setting) and click "Next".
• Assign a drive letter or path (you may also choose to use the default setting) and click "Next".
• Select your file system type and allocation unit size, then type your volume label (you can also choose to use the default setting). Check the "Perform a quick format" option and click "Next".
• Confirm all the selected settings then click "Finish" to complete the New Simple Volume Wizard and the program will help setup your disk volume.
• After the disk format is completed, the PC should display and allow you to access the disk properly.
