OPERATION

You can use this Fondue/Deep-fryer for both deepfrying and fonduing. As a deep-fryer, this appliance is suitable for small quantities of snacks, such as spring rolls, chicken wings and fries. Ideal for preparing a savoury snack. In addition, this appliance can also be used for fonduing at the table with family and friends.

USING FOR THE FIRST TIME

  • Remove all packaging from the appliance.
  • Clean the appliance, see 'Cleaning and Maintenance'.
  • Attach the handle to the frying basket. Squeeze both sides of the handle together for this. The end of the handle will then fit into the basket's handle holder. Now slowly release the handle and make sure that both ends lock into the eyes and clamps of the basket(see also the picture in the description of parts).
  • When the appliance is switched on and heats up for the first time, a small amount of smoke may be released and you may detect a certain smell. This is normal, and will disappear after a few minutes.
  • Continue with the procedure in ‘Using the appliance’.

USING THE APPLIANCE

Filling the appliance with oil, fat or fondue oil

  • Open the lid.
  • Use the handle to remove the frying basket from the appliance.
  • Fill the appliance with the required amount of oil or liquid fat. Make sure that the appliance is filled to at least the minimum level and no higher than the maximum level indicated on the inside of the appliance.

- For fonduing, you should only use oil that is suitable for fonduing.

- For the best deep-frying results, we recommend that you should never mix different types of oil.

- Close the lid.

Deep-frying

  • Insert the plug into the mains power socket. The red indicator lamp will illuminate.
  • Set the temperature switch to the desired temperature. The green indicator lamp (°C) will illuminate.
  • Wait until the oil or fat reaches the set temperature. The green

indicator lamp will then go out. To keep the oil or fat at this temperature, the heating element will repeatedly switch on and off, and the green indicator lamp will also go on and off.

  • Open the lid.
  • Place the food to be deep-fried in the frying basket. For the best result, we recommend placing dry food in the basket.
  • Slowly submerse the frying basket into the appliance. Make sure the handle drops into the handle recess.
  • Make sure that the oil or fat does not pass over the edge of the appliance. If this is about to happen, it means the basket is too full and you will have to take something out of it.
  • Leave the handle attached to the basket and close the lid. The frying time depends on the foodstuffs and your own taste.
  • Use the handle to remove the frying basket from the appliance once the frying time has elapsed.
  • Hang the hook of the frying basket in the recess on the front edge of the appliance to allow the oil to drain from the fried food. Never shake the basket
  • Set the temperature switch to the lowest setting.
  • Remove the plug from the mains power socket.

Fonduing

  • Insert the plug into the mains power socket. The red indicator lamp will illuminate.
  • Set the temperature switch to the desired temperature. The green indicator lamp (°C) will illuminate.
  • Wait until the oil reaches the set temperature. The green indicator lamp will then go out. To keep the oil at this temperature, the heating element will repeatedly switch on and off, and the green indicator lamp will also go on and off.
  • Remove the lid from the appliance. You can do this by opening the lid and then lifting it up.
  • Position the fondue ring on the appliance. The appliance is now ready for use for fonduing.

- Skewer the desired food with a fondue fork and place the fork in the appliance.

- Make sure that the oil does not pass over the edge of the appliance. If this is about to happen, there is too much food in the appliance and you will have to wait until there is some more room.

- Never use a fondue fork to scrape the bottom of the appliance! as this may damage the appliance.

- Remove the food from the appliance as soon as it is cooked.

- Cfter fonduing! always set the temperature switch to the lowest setting.

- Remove the plug from the mains power socket2

NOTE

- Remove the food from the appliance on time2 Otherwise the food may get burnt and give off smoke.

- Regularly replace the frying oil or the liquid frying fat2 Fat or oil quality diminishes each time you use it for frying! as well as becoming contaminated with food remains.

- Never switch on the appliance without oil or liquid fat! as this could damage the appliance2 Never pour any other liquids! such as water or other substances, into the deep-fryer.
