BEFORE USING FOR THE FIRST TIME

■ Remove all packaging, stickers and various accessories from both the inside and outside of the appliance and the insulated pot.

- Switch on your filter-coffee maker without coffee the first time, using the equivalent of a jug of water to rinse it out.

COFFEE PREPARATION

■ Only use cold water, a no. 4 filter paper and grounds for filter coffee. (if the grounds are too fine, they can clog up the filter paper).
■ Open the cover (fig.1) The insulated pot cover unlocks by turning it anti-clockwise.

Fill the tank using your insulated pot. (fig.2)
Do not exceed the MAX level marked on the tank. (fig.3)

■ Open the Hinged filter carrier by pressing its open button. (fig.4)

Place the filter paper into the filter holder. (fig.5)
Place the ground coffee directly into the filter paper. (fig.6)

■ Adjust the quantity of grounds depending on the desired coffee strength. However, it must not exceed one level measuring spoon of ground coffee per cup (maximum 7 grams).

■ Close the Hinged filter carrier. (fig.7)
For better heat retention, rinse the insulated pot with hot water before using.
Place the cover on the insulated pot and close firmly.
- Insert the insulated pot into the coffee maker.

■ Press the on/off button for 2 seconds to start the infusion cycle. (fig.8)

The insulated pot cover must be securely locked for coffee preparation and heat retention.
An anti-drip system lets you remove the insulated pot during the coffee cycle to serve yourself a cup. However, it must be replaced quickly to prevent any spilling.

■ To serve yourself a cup, press the lever on the insulated pot cover.
■ To keep your coffee as hot as possible, leave the cover on the insulated pot locked.
The insulated pot keeps your coffee hot for a long time when it is removed from the coffee maker.

- Your coffee maker shuts off automatically up to 5 minutes after the end of the cycle, i.e. 5 minutes after the tank has completely emptied.

- Your appliance can be turned off at any time by pressing the on/off button.

STRENGTH SELECTOR

■ The strength selector (h) lets you adjust the strength of the coffee being prepared.

■ Turn the selector (h) to the ⏻ position for normal coffee strength. (fig.9)

For weaker coffee, turn the selector (h) the position.

The intermediate positions on the selector (h) allow you to adjust the strength of the coffee to suit your taste.

The coffee strength also depends on the amount of coffee grounds that you put in the filter paper.

CABLE COMPARTMENT

■ When the cable is not in use, it can be stored behind the appliance by pushing it inside. (fig.10)

CLEANING

■ Disconnect the appliance.

- Do not clean the appliance when it is hot.

■ Clean with a damp cloth or sponge.

■ Never put the appliance in water or under running water.

■ To clean out used grounds, remove the filter paper and throw it away.

The removable filter holder can be removed from the pivoting container.

■ To do this, remove the pivoting container by pulling it upwards when it is open and turning it over. (fig.11)

■ Release the removable filter holder by pushing the flap. (fig.12)

■ Handle the insulated pot with care: put a little washing up liquid and water in it and swirl it around gently. Stubborn stains can be removed using a soft brush.

If the pot is heavily stained by the coffee, fill it with boiling water. Add a dishwasher tablet and let it soak for around one hour. Rinse it thoroughly.

- Do not put it in the dishwasher and do not submerge it in water or any other liquid.

DESCALING

Why descale?

Limescale builds up naturally in your coffee maker. Descaling preserves the coffee maker and ensures greater longevity. Descaling ensures consistent coffee quality over time. Limescale may permanently alter machine performance. Malfunctions linked to scaling will not be covered under guarantee should the product be returned.

When to descale

The frequency of descaling depends on water hardness and the number of coffee cycles. When you encounter the following signs: increased cycle time, lots of spraying, increased noise level at the end of the cycle, stopping mid-cycle, this means that your machine is clogged with scale.

Descaling must be performed between 20 and 30 cycles or once a month depending on water hardness.

How to descale your KRUPS coffee maker

Use the KRUPS® descaling solution diluted in half a litre of water or 25 cl (250ml) of white vinegar in half a litre of water.

Pour the solution into the water tank (without coffee).

Start the cycle (without coffee). After 2 minutes, stop the cycle manually. Leave it to stand for one hour.

Restart the coffee maker to complete the cycle.

To rinse the machine, start 2 cycles with water but without coffee.

Repeat the operation if necessary.

The guarantee excludes coffee makers that do not work or that work incorrectly because descaling has not been performed.

IF THERE IS A PROBLEM

If your coffee maker does not work, check:

– that it is plugged in.

- that the switch is lit up.

The water flow time is too long or there is excessive noise:

- descale your coffee maker.

The appliance looks as if it has a leak:

- check that the tank is not filled beyond the maximum mark

The coffee is spilling from the filter holder or the coffee is flowing very slowly:

- The amount of coffee grounds is very important

- Your grounds are too fine and not suitable for a filter-coffee maker

- The insulated pot is not correctly positioned

- The insulated pot has been removed for too long during the preparation cycle or has not been correctly replaced

- The filter paper is not open enough or is incorrectly positioned.

Is your appliance still not working? Contact an approved Krups service centre (see the list in the "Krups Service" booklet).
