How to wire the switch power supply?

Use a 48V DC power adapter (not included) or PoE power via an injector. Connect the positive wire (+) to the V+ terminal block and the negative (-) to V-

The power LED does not light up

Check the power source and connections. Ensure the voltage is between 46 and 57V DC. If the problem persists, contact support.

How to reset the switch?

There is no reset button. Disconnect the power for at least 10 seconds, then reconnect it. Settings return to default values.

Can I use this switch in a home environment?

This switch is a Class A device and may cause radio interference in residential areas. It is designed for industrial or professional use.

What is the maximum PoE power per port?

Each PoE+ port can deliver up to 30W (802.3at). The total available power depends on the power supply (120W max).

The switch does not detect a PoE device

Check that the device is PoE compatible (802.3af/at). Ensure the Ethernet cable is properly connected and the distance does not exceed 100 meters. Reset the switch.

How to mount the switch on a DIN rail?

Attach the supplied mounting bracket (clip) to the back of the switch, then snap it onto the DIN rail. For wall mounting, use the mounting holes.

What cables to use?

Use shielded Ethernet cables (STP) of Category 5e or higher for optimal performance and better immunity to interference.

Can I connect non-PoE devices?

Yes, PoE ports are compatible with non-PoE devices. The PoE function is automatically detected and disabled if necessary.

Thank you for purchasing PLANET Compact Industrial 4-Port 10/100TX 802.3at PoE + 1-Port 100/100TX Ethernet Switch, ISW-504PT-E. In the following section, the term "Industrial PoE Ethernet Switch" means the ISW-504PT-E.

Open the box of the Industrial Ethernet Switch and carefully unpack it. The box should contain the following items:

If any of these are missing or damaged, please contact your dealer immediately; if possible, retain the carton including the original packing material, and use them again to repack the product in case there is a need to return it to us for repair.

3.1 Three-View Diagram

The three-view diagram of the Industrial Ethernet Switch consists of five or eight auto-sensing 10/100BASE-TX RJ45 port and one removable 4-pin terminal block. The LED indicators are also located on the front panel.

3.5 Wiring the Power Inputs

The 4-contact terminal block connector on the top panel of Industrial Ethernet Switch is used for two DC redundant power inputs. Please follow the steps below to insert the power wire.

When performing any of the procedures like inserting the wires or tightening the wire-clamp screws, make sure the power is OFF to prevent from getting an electric shock.

1. Insert positive and negative DC power wires into contacts 1 and 2 for POWER 1, or contacts 3 and 4 for POWER 2.

1. Tighten the wire-clamp screws for preventing the wires from loosening.

1. The wire gauge for the terminal block should be in the range between 12 and 24 AWG.
2. The DC power input range is 48V 55V DC.

3.6 Grounding the Device

Users MUST complete grounding wired with the device; otherwise, a sudden lightning could cause fatal damage to the device. EMD (Lightning) DAMAGE IS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY.

4. Installation

This section describes the functionalities of the Industrial Ethernet Switch's components and guides you to installing it on the DIN rail and wall. Please read this chapter completely before continuing.

Note

This following pictures show the user how to install the device, and the device is not ISW-504PT-E.

4.1 DIN-rail Mounting Installation

Place the bracket on the back of the device and with the given 3 screws, tighten them. Slide the device with the bracket mounted through the DIN-rail to installation.

4.2 Wall-mount Plate Mounting

Place the mounting plate on the back of the device, and tighten it with the given screws. Then put the device with the plate mounted on the wall, and screw them to finish the installation.

You must use the screws supplied with the wall-mounting brackets. Damage caused to the parts by using incorrect screws would invalidate your warranty.
