How to clean the Astucio SK5005 deep fryer?

The tank can be washed in the dishwasher. The lid and base are cleaned with a sponge using hot water and dish soap. Never use metallic sponge or scouring powder to preserve the non-stick coating.

How much oil should I put in the deep fryer?

The oil capacity is approximately 2.5 L. Do not exceed the maximum level indicated in the tank to avoid spillage.

Can I use the tank on an induction hob?

Yes, the pot is compatible with all heat sources except induction. For gas or electric cooking, you can use the Thermo-Spot® as a temperature indicator.

Why won't the deep fryer turn on?

Check that the lid is correctly positioned on the pot: a safety system prevents the appliance from starting if the lid is not properly engaged. Also ensure the appliance is plugged in.

Can I fry frozen food?

Yes, but remove excess ice and dry the food before immersing in hot oil to avoid splattering. Do not exceed the maximum capacity of 1.2 kg of fries.

How do I use the Thermo-Spot®?

The Thermo-Spot® is a temperature indicator on the tank: when it becomes uniformly red, the ideal temperature for frying is reached. Use it only on an external heat source (not with the heating lid).

What type of oil should I use?

Use a frying oil suitable for high-temperature cooking, such as peanut or sunflower oil. Avoid unrefined oils or those with a low smoke point.

Does the deep fryer have automatic shut-off?

Yes, a safety system cuts the power if the lid is not correctly positioned. Under normal use, turn it off after use with the switch; never leave the appliance unattended.

Can I replace a damaged power cord?

No, the cord must be replaced only by the manufacturer, its after-sales service, or a qualified person to avoid any danger. Contact Tefal or an authorized center.

Is it normal to have odor or smoke on first use?

Yes, a slight odor and smoke may occur during the first few minutes of use. This is normal; ensure the room is well ventilated.

Prevention of accidents at home

• For a child, even a slight burn may sometimes be serious. As they grow up, teach your children to be careful around hot appliances in the kitchen.
• If an accident occurs, rinse the burn immediately with cold water and call a doctor if necessary.

Assembly

• Use only the lid (1) with the pot (3) and the support stand (4).
• Ensure that the lid is secure, stable and fitted correctly onto the appliance - C - D.
• Use only the pot provided with the appliance or provided by the manufacturer or its service agent.
• Place the base of the appliance on a flat, stable heat-resistant surface.

Using

• Plug the appliance into a socket.
• Turn on the appliance by pressing the On/Off switch: the light switches on - F.
• Before using for the first time, wipe over the pot using kitchen paper towel dipped in a little cooking oil. Remove any surplus oil using clean kitchen paper towel.
• To prevent damage to the pot, only use it on the appliance for which it was designed.
• The pot can be used on all kinds of stove tops except induction - I - and pay attention to the Thermo-Spot®.
• Never use the plastic lid* (2) when the pot is hot.
• If the lid is not fitted correctly, the safety system does not allow cooking to start.
• To avoid spoiling your appliance, do not cook flambe recipes in it.

Close supervision is necessary when any appliance is used by or near children.

Cooking fumes may be dangerous for animals which have a particularly sensitive respiratory system, such as birds.

We advise bird owners to keep them away from the cooking area.

Do not move the appliance when in use.

On first use, there may be a slight odour and a little smoke during the first few minutes.

Do not slice directly in the dish.

Do not use aluminium foil or other objects between the pot and the lid.

To preserve the non-stick properties of the coating, do not cook food in aluminium foil.

Never use the appliance when it is empty.

- Always use a plastic or wooden spatula to preserve the coating of pot.

After use

• Turn off the appliance by pressing the On/Off switch: the light switches off - K.
• Unplug the appliance - L.
• Check that the appliance is cooled and unplugged before storing away - M.
• Clean the lid and support stand with a sponge, hot water and washing up liquid - O.

Do not immerse the appliance in water.

Do not use a metallic sponge or scouring powder.

Don't put the hot pot under water or on a fragile surface.

The pot is dishwasher safe.
