Why does the circuit breaker of my meter trip before the BUFFALO S047 reaches temperature?
Frequently Asked Questions - 05/05/2026
Response Notice-Facile

First, check the built-in thermal circuit breaker of the BUFFALO S047: this device is equipped with a safety thermal circuit breaker that may be triggered. If this is the one that trips, refer to the section "Resetting the thermal circuit breaker" in your manual to reset it properly.

If it is your home electrical meter that trips, it is an electrical overload. The S047 consumes 1300W (5.5A) during heating - a significant power:

  • Plug it in alone to a socket: do not share it on a power strip or an already loaded circuit (oven, radiator, other high-power device).
  • Check the amperage of your meter (on your EDF bill or contract): if you are at 6A or 9A, the S047 may cause an overload, especially at startup when the heating is at maximum.
  • Turn off other devices in the house while heating the bain-marie (washing machine, oven, etc.).
  • Increase the amperage of the meter: if you need to use several devices together, contact your electricity supplier to switch to 12A or 15A.

Once the S047 reaches the holding temperature, the consumption naturally decreases and the risk of tripping decreases.
