How to pair the VALLHORN motion sensor with an IKEA product?

Place the sensor within 5 cm of the connected product, then press and hold the pairing button for at least 10 seconds. A red LED lights up, then a white LED flashes when the connection is successful.

Can I use the VALLHORN without the DIRIGERA hub?

Yes, the sensor can work without a gateway. In this case, you can connect up to 10 products directly. For optimal experience and app control, it is recommended to use the DIRIGERA hub.

How to adjust the lighting duration of connected lights?

The lighting duration is adjusted directly on the sensor. Use the selector provided (see manual for exact location). The available options are not detailed in the manual, but you can choose different durations.

What do the Day and Night modes mean?

In Day mode, the sensor triggers the light regardless of ambient light. In Night mode, it only triggers the light in a dark environment, preventing unwanted activation during the day.

How to replace the sensor batteries?

When the red LED lights up under the lens, open the battery compartment cover and replace the batteries with two new AAA/HR03 batteries. IKEA recommends using LADDA rechargeable batteries. Batteries are sold separately.

How to reset the sensor to factory settings?

Press the pairing button 4 times quickly in a row (within 5 seconds). This removes all connected products and resets the sensor. You will then need to re-pair your products.

How many products can I connect without a gateway?

Without the DIRIGERA hub, you can connect a maximum of 10 connected products to the motion sensor. Add one product at a time and disconnect already paired products if necessary.

What is the range of the motion sensor?

The detection range is approximately 10 meters. The wireless range for communication with connected products is also 10 meters in free field. The viewing angle is 60° to 120°.

What to do if the red LED is continuously lit?

A red LED continuously lit under the lens indicates that the batteries are low and need to be replaced. Replace with new AAA/HR03 batteries.

Is the sensor waterproof?

The sensor has an IP44 protection rating, meaning it is protected against water splashes. It can be used outdoors, but avoid direct exposure to rain or immersion.

VALLHORN motion sensor works with smart lights and plugs from IKEA. It can be used with DIRIGERA hub to control smart products via the IKEA Home smart app.

Getting started with DIRIGERA hub

Download the IKEA Home smart app and follow the instructions on screen. With DIRIGERA, you can connect as many products as you want to one motion sensor.

Getting started without DIRIGERA hub

1. Make sure the smart product you want to connect is installed and powered on.
2. Hold the motion sensor close to the smart product (less than 5 cm away).
3. Press and hold the Pairing button for at least 10 seconds. A red LED will steadily shine under the lens of the motion sensor. The smart product will pulse with a white LED once connected.

Good to know

Without DIRIGERA, you can connect a maximum of 10 smart products to one motion sensor. Remember to add one product at a time. If your products are close together, disconnect the ones you have already connected while adding the next product.

Get to know your product

Choose how many minutes the connected lights and plugs will be on.

Choose between light and dark mode. In light mode, the detected motion will turn on lights in any surrounding. In the dark mode, the detected motion will turn on the lights only in the dark surrounding.

Changing the batteries

A red LED light will light up under the lens of the motion sensor to show that new batteries are needed. Open the battery lid and replace with two new AAA/HR03 batteries. We recommend using LADDA rechargeable batteries. Please note they are sold separately.

Factory reset

To reset and remove all connected products, quick-press the Pairing button 4 times (within 5 seconds). Follow steps 1-3 to reconnect your smart products.

Care instructions

To clean the product, wipe it with a soft dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaning agents, chemical solvents or other equipment that may damage the products.

IMPORTANT!

• Operating temperature: -5°C to 40°C .
• Do not leave the sensor in direct sunlight or close to any heat source to prevent overheating.
• Different building materials and placement of the units can affect the wireless connectivity range.

WARNING!

Risk of explosion if either battery is replaced by an incorrect type. Do not mix batteries of different capacities, types or date stamps. Dispose of used batteries according to instructions.
