The iron constantly turns on and off, and steam only comes out when the indicator light is on, is this normal?
Frequently Asked Questions - 18/05/2026
Response Notice-Facile

The cyclic on and off behavior of the indicator light is completely normal. According to the Supreme Steam Ultra manual, once the iron has reached the desired temperature, the light turns off, then automatically turns on and off to maintain the temperature via the thermostat. This is the intended operation of the product.

However, the issue you describe regarding the steam only coming out when the light is on is not normal. The steam function, which produces 50 g/min, should be available once the iron has reached its operating temperature (regardless of the light cycles). If steam only comes out during the heating phase, this may indicate:

  • A thermostat cycle that is too fast (the iron does not stay at temperature long enough)
  • An internal problem with the steam system or the temperature sensor

Recommendation: Since your iron is new and under a 2-year warranty, contact the retailer or Russell Hobbs directly for inspection or replacement. This is not expected behavior for a new iron.
