How to use the Curl Secret Elegance?

Plug in the device, select the temperature (I or II) with the switch. Wait until the indicator light stops blinking. Take a strand of max 3 cm, place it in the funnel opening and close the handles. Hold until the audible signal, then gently release the curl.

What temperature to choose for my hair?

For fine, bleached or sensitized hair, use level I at 185 °C. For normal, thick, wavy or colored hair, use level II at 205 °C.

What to do if hair gets tangled in the device?

The device emits an audible signal and locks. Release the handles, check that the strand and the device are properly positioned, then close the handles to deactivate the safety system and restart the device.

How to clean the device?

Make sure the device is off, unplugged and cooled down. Dip the cleaning tool in warm soapy water, insert it into the cavity around the cylinder and rotate several times. Rinse the felt pad and let it dry. Wipe the housing with a damp cloth.

What does the audible signal mean?

The audible signal indicates that the curl is complete. Then open the handles and release the strand. In case of tangling, an alarm sound is heard and the device locks.

How long before automatic shut-off?

The device automatically shuts off after 60 minutes of continuous use. If inactive for more than 20 minutes, it goes into standby mode at 150 °C.

Can I use the device on wet hair?

No, hair must be dry before using the curling iron to avoid any risk of burns or damage.

The device emits an odor or smoke, is this normal?

Yes, on first use an odor may be released, it will disappear afterwards. A slight smoke may appear due to evaporation of sebum or hair products. Use a heat protection spray if necessary.

How to activate standby mode?

Standby mode activates automatically after 20 minutes of inactivity. To exit it, press and release the handles: the device returns to the selected temperature.

Is the cleaning tool reusable?

Yes, the cleaning tool is reusable. Remove the felt pad, rinse it with soapy water, dry it and put it back in place before next use.

USE

Notes

• When using the unit for the first time, you might notice a distinct odour: this is common and will disappear by the next use.
  • Each time you use the appliance, you may see some steam. Do not be concerned, this could be because of evaporation of the natural oils of the hair, residual hair products (leave-in hair products, hairspray, etc.) or excess moisture evaporating from your hair.
• A heat-protection spray can be used to provide optimal protection of the hair.
• Plug in the appliance, switch on and select the desired temperature using the 0-I-II switch. See table below:

• The indicator light comes on and will start to flash.
• The indicator light will stop flashing when the appliance has heated up to the selected temperature. The appliance is now ready to use; the indicator light will stay on.

Precautions for use

• Ensure that hair is dry.
• Clip the upper layers to the top of your head and start working on the layers underneath.
• Separate a section of hair no wider than 3 cm. Ensure the section is thoroughly combed through.

- Bring the appliance close to the hair and position it in the right direction: the cavity formed by the cylinder downwards (FIG.1 and 2) and facing the head. (FIG. 3 and 4).

- With your free hand, take hold of the tip of the section of hair and place it on the opening, in the funnel situated between the two handles (FIG.5).

Note: To prevent the appliance from blocking, ensure that you have no hair lying across the edges.

Also ensure that you are not pulling your hair before activating the handles (FIG. 6 and 7).

If these precautions are not respected, you risk catching your hair in the appliance.

• Once the section of hair is in place, close the handles to allow the hair to automatically enter into the appliance.
• Keep the handles closed until the beeping stops (FIG.8).
• Gently release the hair from the appliance by opening the handles (FIG.9). Don't pull on the appliance to free the hair. If you do this you will ruin the curl effect.
• Allow your hair to cool before handling or combing it.
• Repeat all over the head until you have the number of curls you would like.
• After use, switch off and unplug the appliance. Allow to cool before storing away.

Protection system

The appliance is fitted with a protection system. If hair becomes tangled, the appliance emits an audible signal, it blocks and stops heating.

If this occurs, release the handles, ensuring that the appliance and section of hair are correctly positioned, then simply re-close the handles to deactivate the security system and re-start the appliance.

Sleep mode

If the appliance is not in use for more than 20 minutes, the temperature will automatically reduce to 150^ C. If you wish to continue using the appliance after this time, simply close then release the handles and the appliance will return to the temperature setting previously selected.

Automatic shut off

If the appliance is left switched on for more than 60 minutes at a time, it will automatically shut off.

CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE

In order to prevent build-up of residue from hair products which would prevent the appliance from working properly, it is important to use the cleaning tool provided to regularly clean the appliance.

• Ensure the appliance is switched off, unplugged and cool.
• Lightly dampen the cleaning tool with warm water and mild soap.
• Insert the tool fully into the cavity formed by the appliance and the cylinder (FIG. 10).
• Rotate the tool several times around the cylinder to remove any build-up of hair products (FIG. 11).

- Remove the cleaning tool from the cavity.

- Ensure the appliance is completely dry before reusing.

- The cleaning tool can be reused many times. Simply remove the felt pad, rinse it in warm soapy water and leave to dry before reusing.

Once unplugged and cooled, the appliance housing may be wiped with a damp cloth. Ensure the appliance is completely dry before plugging it in again.
