Before using your toaster

Set the browning level to maximum (7).

Operate the appliance empty, to cure the new elements.

This may smell a bit, but it is nothing to worry about. Ensure the room is well ventilated.

Using Your Toaster:

  1. Make sure the bread carriage lever is in the up position.
  2. Unwind the power cord and plug into the nearest electrical outlet.
  3. With the bread carriage in the up position insert the slice(s) you would like to toast/defrost.
  4. Turn the Browning Dial to the desired browning setting (1 = light, 7 = dark). The higher the number the darker the toast (Your toaster has 1-7 browning levels).
Attention: Always use the CANCEL button if you see or smell burning.

  5. Press the carriage lever down until it locks into position.

  6. When the toaster cycle is completed the toast rises automatically.
  7. When heating is complete, let the toaster cool then move or unplug the product from the electrical outlet.
  8. Never wrap the power cord around the outside of the toaster. The power cord should be wrapped around the cord storage cavity underneath the toaster.

WARNING: Always unplug the product from the electrical outlet when it is not in use or will be left unattended.

TOASTING BREAD

Put the plug into the power socket.

Turn the browning control to the required setting (1 = light, 7 = dark).

Put bread into the toasting slots.

Press the lever down fully, cancel button will come on. NOTE: Slots will not lock down unless the toaster is connected to the electricity outlet.

When the bread has met the desired toasted level, the toast will pop up.

CANCEL FUNCTION

Press the Cancel button at any time to stop toasting.

DEFROST FUNCTION

Leave the browning level at your favorite setting, insert the frozen bread, lower the lever, then press the Defrost button. The defrost light will come on, and the toasting time will be altered automatically to give the same degree of browning you get with unfrozen bread.

EXTRA LIFT

When toasting is done, raise the lever further, to remove bread.

Toasting Tips:

Toasting times may vary on the moisture level of the bread you are toasting.

  • For slightly DRY bread, use a lower setting (1-3) on the Browning Control Knob.
  • FRESH bread or WHOLE WHEAT bread use a higher setting (4-6) on the browning control knob.
  • ENGLISH MUFFINS will require a higher setting (4-6) on the browning control knob.
  • Thick cuts of bread like BAGELS take longer to toast since more moisture must be evaporated from the bread before toasting occurs.

- Some very thick cuts of bread may require two toasting cycles.

- If you will toast bread with pieces of fruit, please remove all loose pieces before toasting. These can fall into the toaster or stick to the guard wires.

- Before toasting bagels, slice them into two equal halves; place them in the toaster with the cut sides facing each other.

- For Toasting a single slice, use a lower setting (1-3) on the browning control knob.

- Use caution when toasting pastries as their fillings can become very hot before the surface of the pastry becomes brown.

Cleaning Your Toaster:

WARNING: Always unplug the product and allow it to cool before cleaning or storing.

- Simply wipe the exterior of the toaster with a clean damp cloth and dry it thoroughly. If a cleaning solution is used, apply it to a clean cloth and not directly onto the toaster.

- This toaster is equipped with a Crumb Tray. Slide the Crumb Tray to open, wipe clean and replace. Never operate the toaster without the crumb holder in place

- To remove bread caught in toaster, unplug it from outlet, turn toaster upside down and shake gently. Never insert any hard or sharp object into the toaster.
