How to set the refrigerator temperature?

Press the refrigerator setting button on the control panel. Each press changes the temperature between +2 °C and +8 °C (or Super Cool mode). The value flashes then fixes after 3 seconds.

What does the alarm symbol (!) on the display mean?

The alarm symbol lights up red in case of a problem, such as a door left open for more than 2 minutes or a temperature that is too high. Refer to the troubleshooting section for error codes.

Why is my refrigerator making noise?

Clicking, humming, or gurgling noises are normal. They come from the compressor, fan, or refrigerant gas circulation. Crackling noises are due to plastic expansion.

How to activate Super Freeze mode?

Press and hold the freezer setting button for 3 seconds. The Super Freeze symbol lights up. This mode deactivates automatically after 24 hours or when the temperature reaches -32 °C.

What to do if frost forms inside?

Frost may result from a poorly closed door or food blocking ventilation openings. Check the door seal and do not let food touch the back walls.

How to clean the inside of the refrigerator?

Unplug the appliance. Use a soft damp cloth with warm water and a little baking soda. Do not spray water directly and do not use abrasive products. Dry thoroughly.

Can I replace the LED bulb myself?

No, the LED bulbs are not user-replaceable. Contact Samsung after-sales service for any intervention.

What is the minimum distance to maintain around the refrigerator?

Leave at least 50 mm at the rear and sides, and 100 mm above. The distance between the appliance and the back wall should not exceed 75 mm.

What to do in case of error code E09 or E10?

These codes indicate that the freezer compartment (E09) or refrigerator compartment (E10) is not cold enough. Set the temperature to a colder value or activate Super Freeze/Super Cool mode. Keep doors closed. If the error persists, contact a technician.

How long should you wait after installation before putting food?

Wait at least 2 hours after placing and plugging in the refrigerator to load food, so that the temperature stabilizes.

- In order to avoid the creation of a flammable gas-air mixture if a leak in the refrigerating circuit occurs, the size of the room in which the appliance may be sited depends on the amount of refrigerant used.

- Never start up an appliance showing any signs of damage. If in doubt, consult your dealer. The room must be 1 m ^3 in size for every 8 g of R-600a refrigerant inside the appliance. The amount of refrigerant in your particular appliance is shown on the identification plate inside the appliance.

- Refrigerant leaking out of the pipes could ignite or cause an eye injury. When refrigerant leaks from the pipe, avoid any naked flames and move anything flammable away from the product and ventilate the room immediately.

- Failing to do so may result in fire or explosion.

- It is an hazardous for anyone other than an Authorised Service Person to service this appliance. In Queensland – the authorized Service Person MUST hold a Gas Work Authorisation or Licence for hydrocarbon refrigerants, to carry out Servicing or repairs which involve the removal of covers. • If the electrical socket does not match the refrigerator plug, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, its service agent or similar qualified pe sons in order to avoid a hazard.

Severe warning signs for transportation and site

WARNING

- When transporting and installing the appliance, care should be taken to ensure that no parts of the refrigerating circuit are damaged. - Refrigerant leaking from the pipe work could ignite or cause an eye injury. If a leak is detected, avoid any naked flames or potential sources of ignition and ventilate the room in which the appliance is standing for several minutes.

- This appliance contains a small amount of isobutane refrigerant (R-600a), a natural gas with high environmental compatibility that is, however, also combustible. When transporting and installing the appliance, care should be taken to ensure that no parts of the refrigerating circuit are damaged.

Usage cautions

CAUTION

- Do not re-freeze frozen foods that have thawed completely. Do not place carbonated or fizzy drinks in the freezer compartment. Do not put bottles or glass containers in the freezer.

- When the contents freeze, the glass may break and cause personal injury.

• To get the best performance from the product:

- Do not place food too close to the vents at the rear of the refrigerator as this can obstruct free air circulation in the refrigerator compartment.

- Wrap food up properly or place it in airtight containers before putting it into the refrigerator.

- Please observe maximum storage times and expiration dates of frozen goods.

- Do not place glass or bottles or carbonated beverages into the freezer.

- The container may freeze and break, and this may result in injury.

- Do not place carbonated or fizzy drinks in the freezer compartment. Do not put bottles or glass containers in the freezer.

- When the contents freeze, the glass may break and cause personal injury and property damage.

• Service Warranty and Modification.

- Any changes or modifications performed by a 3rd party on this finished appliance are not covered under Samsung warranty service, nor is Samsung

responsible for safety issues that result from 3rd party modifications.

- Do not block the air vents inside the refrigerator.

- If the air vents are blocked, especially with a plasti bag, the refrigerator can be over cooled.

- Wipe excess moisture from the inside and leave the doors open.

- Otherwise, odor and mold may develop.

- If the refrigerator is disconnected from the electric power supply, you should wait for at least five minutes before plugging it back in.

- If the refrigerator gets wet, pull out the power plug and contact your Samsung Electronics service center.

- Do not keep vegetable oil in your refrigerator's door or bins. The oil can solidify, making it foul-tasting and difficult to use. In addition, the open container can leak and the leaked oil can cause the door or bin to crack. Open oil containers are best kept in a cool and shaded place such as a cupboard or pantry.

Critical disposal warnings

WARNING

• Please dispose of the packaging material from this product in an environmentally friendly manner.
• Ensure that none of the pipes on the back of the refrigerator are damaged prior to disposal.
• R-600a or R-134a is used as a refrigerant. Check the compressor label on the rear of the appliance or the rating label inside the fridge to see which refrigerant is used for your refrigerator. If this refrigerator contains flammable gas (refrigerant R-600a), contact your local authority in regard to safe disposal of this product.

- When disposing of this refrigerator, remove the door/door seals and door latch so that small children or animals cannot become trapped inside. Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance.

- If trapped inside, the child may become injured suffocate to death.

- Cyclopentane is used in the insulation. The gases in the insulation material require a special disposal procedure. Please contact your local authorities in regard to the environmentally safe disposal of this product.

- Keep all packaging materials well out of the reach of children, as packaging materials can be dangerous to children.

- If a child places a bag over his or her head, the child could suffocate.

Clean water tanks if they have not been used for 48 hours, flush the water system connected to a water supply if water has not been drawn for 5 days.

Additional tips for proper usage

• In the event of a power failure, call the local office of your electric company and ask how long the failure is going to last.
• Most power failures that are corrected in an hour or two will not affect your refrigerator temperatures. However, you should minimize the number of door openings while the power is off.
• Should the power failure last more than 24 hours, remove and discard all frozen food.

- The refrigerator might not operate consistently (frozen contents can thaw or temperatures can become too warm in the frozen food compartment) if sited for an extended period of time in a location where ambient air temperatures are constantly below the temperatures for which the appliance is designed.

- In case of particular foods, keeping it under refrigeration can have a bad effect on preservation due to its properties.

• Your appliance is frost free, which means there is no need to manually defrost your appliance. This will be carried out automatically.
• Temperature rise during defrosting complies with ISO requirements. If you want to prevent an undue rise in the temperature of frozen food while the appliance defrosts, wrap the frozen food in several layers of newspaper.
• Do not re-freeze frozen foods that have thawed completely.

Saving Energy Tips

• Install the appliance in a cool, dry room with adequate ventilation. Ensure that it is not exposed to direct sunlight and never put it near a direct source of heat (a radiator, for example).
• Not to block any vents and grilles is recommended for energy efficiency.
• Allow warm food to cool down before placing it in the appliance.
• Put frozen food in the refrigerator to thaw. You can then use the low temperatures of the frozen products to cool food in the refrigerator.

Installation warnings

Before using your fridge freezer for the first time, please pay attention to the following points:

• The operating voltage for your fridge freezer is 220-240 V at 50Hz.
• The plug must be accessible after installation.
• Your fridge freezer may have an odour when it is operated for the first time. This is normal and the odour will fade when your fridge freezer starts to cool.
• Before connecting your fridge freezer, ensure that the information on the data plate (voltage and connected load) matches that of the mains electricity supply. If in doubt, consult a qualified electrician.
• Insert the plug into a socket with an efficient ground connection. If the socket has no ground contact or the plug does not match, we recommend you consult a qualified electrician for assistance.
• The appliance must be connected with a properly installed fused socket. The power supply (AC) and voltage at the operating point must match with the details on the name plate of the appliance (the name plate is located on the inside left of the appliance).
• We do not accept responsibility for any damages that occur due to ungrounded usage.
• Place your fridge freezer where it will not be exposed to direct sunlight.
• Your fridge freezer must never be used outdoors or exposed to rain.
• Your appliance must be at least 50 cm away from stoves, gas ovens and heater cores, and at least 5 cm away from electrical ovens.
• If your fridge freezer is placed next to a deep freezer, there must be at least 2 cm between them to prevent humidity forming on the outer surface.
• Do not cover the body or top of fridge freezer with lace. This will affect the performance of your fridge freezer.
• Clearance of at least 150 mm is required at the top of your appliance. Do not place anything on top of your appliance.
• Do not place heavy items on the appliance.
• Clean the appliance thoroughly before use (see Cleaning and Maintenance).
• Before using your fridge freezer, wipe all parts with a solution of warm water and a teaspoon of sodium bicarbonate. Then, rinse with clean water and dry. Return all parts to the fridge freezer after cleaning.
• Use the adjustable front legs to make sure your appliance is level and stable. You can adjust the legs by turning them in either direction. This must be done before placing food in the appliance.
• When the product is running, high temperature can be noticed on the side panels. This situation is normal.
• In order for the product to work efficiently, there must be some gap around it for air circulation. If you are going to place the product in a recessed area on the wall, make sure that the gap should be 100 mm between top surface and ceiling, 50 mm between walls and side panels.

- The distance between the appliance and back wall must be a maximum of 75 mm.

1.1 During Usage

• Do not connect your fridge freezer to the mains electricity supply using an extension lead.
• Do not use damaged, torn or old plugs.
• Do not pull, bend or damage the cord.
• Do not use plug adapter.
• This appliance is designed for use by adults. Do not allow children to play with the appliance or hang off the door.
• Never touch the power cord/plug with wet hands. This may cause a short circuit or electric shock.
• Do not place glass bottles or cans in the ice-making compartment as they will burst when the contents freeze.
• Do not place explosive or flammable material in your fridge. Place drinks with high alcohol content vertically in the fridge compartment and make sure their tops are tightly closed.
• When removing ice from the ice-making compartment, do not touch it. Ice may cause frost burns and/or cuts.
• Do not touch frozen goods with wet hands. Do not eat ice-cream or ice cubes immediately after they are removed from the ice-making compartment.
• Do not re-freeze thawed frozen food. This may cause health issues such as food poisoning.

Old and Out-of-order Fridges

• If your old fridge or freezer has a lock, break or remove the lock before discarding it, because children may get trapped inside it and may cause an accident.
• Old fridges and freezers contain isolation material and refrigerant with CFC. Therefore, take care not to harm environment when you are discarding your old fridges.

Step-by-step installation

STEP 1 Select a site

Site requirements:

• Solid, level surface without carpeting or flooring that may o struct ventilation
• Away from direct sunlight
• Adequate room for opening and closing the door
• Away from a heat source
  • Room for maintenance and servicing
  • Temperature range: between 10 °C and 43 °C

STEP 2 Flooring

- The surface to install the refrigerator must support a fully loaded refrigerator, or approximately 90 kg.

• To protect the floo, put a large piece of cardboard on each leg of the refrigerator.

- Once the refrigerator is in its final p sition, do not move it unless necessary to protect the floor. If you have to, use a thick paper or cloth such as old carpets along the movement path.

STEP 3 Adjust the levelling legs

CAUTION

• The refrigerator must be levelled on a flat, solid floor. Failing to do so can cause damage to the refrigerator or physical injury.
• Levelling must be performed with an empty refrigerator. Make sure no food items remain inside the refrigerator.
• For safety reasons, adjust the front side a little higher than the rear side.

The refrigerator can be levelled using the front legs that have a special screw (leveller) for levelling purposes. Use a fla -head screwdriver for levelling.

To adjust the height of the left side:

Insert a flat-head screwdriver into the leveller of the front left leg. Turn the leveller clockwise to raise, or turn it counter clockwise to lower.

Cooler Temperature Settings

• The initial temperature value for the cooler setting indicator is +4 °C.
• Press the cooler button once.
• Whenever you press the button, a lower temperature will be set (+8 °C, +6 °C, +5 °C, +4 °C, or +2 °C).
• If you continue to press the button, it will restart from +8 °C.

Super Freeze Mode

Purpose

• To freeze a large quantity of food that cannot fit on the fast freeze shelf.
  • To freeze prepared foods.
  • To freeze fresh food quickly to retain freshness.

How to use

To enable the super freeze mode, press and hold the freezer temperature setting button for 3 seconds. Once the super freeze mode has been set, the super freeze symbol on the indicator will be lit and the machine will beep to confirm the mode has been switched on.

During Super Freeze Mode:

• The temperature of the Cooler may be adjusted. In this case, Super Freeze mode will continue.
• Super Freeze mode can be cancelled in the same way it is selected.

• The maximum amount of fresh food (in kilograms) that can be frozen within 24 hours is shown on the appliance label.
• For optimal appliance performance in maximum freezer capacity, activate super freeze mode.

Super freeze mode will automatically cancel after 24 hours, depending on the environmental temperature or when the freezer sensor reaches a sufficiently temperature.

Screen Saver Mode

Purpose

This mode saves energy by switching off all control panel lighting when the panel is left inactive.

How to Use

• Screen saver mode will be activated automatically after 30 seconds.
• If you press any key while the lighting of the control panel is off, the current machine settings will reappear on the display to let you make any change you wish.
• If you do not cancel the screen saving mode or press any key for 30 seconds, control panel will remain off.

To deactivate the screen saving mode,

• To cancel the screen saving mode, first of all, you need to press any key to activate the keys and then press and hold the freezer set button for 5 seconds.
• To reactivate screen saving mode, press and hold the freezer set button for 5 seconds.

Cooler Temperature Settings

• Press the cooler set button once.
• When you first press the button, the previous value will appear on the setting indicator of the cooler.

Temperature Adjustment Warnings

• It is not recommended that you operate your fridge in environments colder than 10^ C in terms of its efficiency.
• Do not start another adjustment while you are already making an adjustment.
• Temperature adjustments should be made according to the frequency of door openings, the quantity of food kept inside the fridge and the ambient temperature in the location of your fridge.
• In order to allow your fridge to reach the operating temperature after being connected to mains, do not open the doors frequently or place large quantities of food in the fridge. Please note that, depending on the ambient temperature, it may take 24 hours for your fridge to reach the operating temperature.
• A 5 minute delay function is applied to prevent damage to the compressor of your fridge when connecting or disconnecting to mains, or when an energy breakdown occurs. Your fridge will begin to operate normally after 5 minutes.
• Your appliance is designed to operate in the ambient temperature (T/SN = 10°C - 43°C) intervals stated in the standards, according to the climate class displayed on the information label. We do not recommend operating your appliance out of the stated temperature limits in terms of cooling effectiveness.

Important installation instructions

This appliance is designed to work in difficult climate conditions and is powered with 'Freezer Shield' technology which ensures that the frozen food in the freezer will not defrost even if the ambient temperature falls as low as -15 °C. So you may then install your appliance in an unheated room without having to worry about frozen food in the freezer being spoilt. When the ambient temperature returns to normal, you may continue using the appliance as usual.

Accessories

To make ice cubes:

• Tray ice maker: Fill the tray with water up to the maximum level (A) as shown in the illustration.
• Icetray: Fill the tray with water up to the maximum level marked on the inner rear of the tray.

To empty the ice tray, hold both ends of the tray and gently twist to remove the ice cubes.

The Fresh Zone (RT40A\*\*\*\*, In some models)

Fresh Zone

Keeping food in the Fresh Zone, instead of the freezer or refrigerator compartments, allows food to retain freshness and flavour for longer, while preserving its fresh appearance. When the fresh zone tray becomes dirty, remove it and wash with water.

(Water freezes at 0^ C, but food containing salt or sugar freezes at temperatures lower than this).

The fresh zone is usually used for storing foods such as raw fish, lightly pickled food, rice, and so on.

Do not put food you want to freeze or ice trays (to make ice) in the fresh zone

To remove the fresh zone (RT40A****, In some models)

- Pull the fresh zone towards you by sliding it on the rails.

- Pull the fresh zone up from the rail and remove it from the fridge.

After the fresh zone is removed, there will be space for up to 20kg of food to be placed in the fridge.

The Fresh Dial (RT40A****, In some models)

If the crisper is full, the fresh dial located in front of the crisper should be opened. This allows the air in the crisper and the humidity rate to be controlled, to increase the life of food within.

The dial, located behind the shelf, must be opened if any condensation is seen on the glass shelf.

1. Lift the front or rear of the shelf slightly up to pull it out.

CAUTION

• Do not put food or objects in front of the Vegetable box. The door will not close properly.
• The shelf must be inserted correctly. Do not insert upside down.
• When reinserting the shelf, make sure to push in the shelf to the end until it fits.
• Glass containers may scratch the surface of glass shelves.

Cleaning

Interior and exterior

WARNING

• Do not use benzene, thinner, or home/car detergent such as Clorox™ for cleaning purposes. They may damage the surface of the refrigerator and cause a fire.
• Do not spray water onto the refrigerator. This may cause electric shock.

Regularly use a dry cloth to remove all foreign substances such as dust or water from the power plug terminals and contact points.

1. Unplug the power cord.
2. Use a moistened, soft, lint-free cloth or paper towel to clean the refrigerator's interior and exterior.
3. When done, use a dry cloth or paper towel to dry well.
4. Plug in the power cord.

LED Lamps

To replace the lamps of the refrigerator, contact a local Samsung service centre.

WARNING

The lamps are not user-serviceable. Do not attempt to replace a lamp yourself. This can cause electric shock.

Temperature

	The refrigerator is overloaded. Food is blocking the refrigerator vents.	Do not overload the refrigerator. Do not allow food to block ventilation.
Fridge/freezer is over-cooling.	Temperature control is not set correctly.	Set the temperature higher.
Exterior wall is hot.	Refrigerator has hot pipe in the exterior wall.	To prevent condensation, the refrigerator has hot pipe in the front and side walls. If the ambient temperature rises, this equipment may produce more heat. This is not a system failure.

Odors

Frost

Food in the fridge are frozen.	The temperature of the fridge is too low.	Adjust the temperature.
	Food with high moisture content (such as fruit and vegetable) contact with cold air directly.	Do not store food with high moisture content at the back of the fridge.

Condensation

- When starting or ending an operation, the refrigerator may make sounds similar to a car engine igniting. As the operation stabilizes, the sounds will decrease.

Clicking! or Chirping! Buzzing!

- While the fan is operating, these sounds may occur. When the refrigerator reaches the set temperature, no fan sound will occur.

- During a defrost cycle, water may drip on the defrost heater, causing sizzling sounds.

- As the refrigerator cools or freezes, refrigerant gas moves through sealed pipes, causing bubbling sounds.

- As the refrigerator temperature increases or decreases, plastic parts contract and expand, creating knocking noises. These noises occur during the defrosting cycle or when electronic parts are working.
