How to use the grill for the first time?

Before first use, read the cleaning and maintenance instructions for non-stick surfaces. Attach the thermostat connector to the unit, plug it in, set the desired temperature (1-5). The indicator lights up then goes off when the temperature is reached. A slight odor may be emitted; ventilate the room.

Why is there an odor during first use?

A slight odor is normal during first use due to heating of new materials. Ensure good ventilation. The smell disappears after a few uses.

How to adjust the temperature on the Emerio grill?

Turn the temperature control knob to one of the 5 positions (1 = low, 5 = high). The indicator light turns on when the appliance heats up and turns off when the desired temperature is reached. The grill automatically maintains the temperature.

Can I use metal utensils on the non-stick surface?

No, only use wooden, nylon or plastic utensils to avoid scratching the non-stick surface. Never cut food directly on the grill. Metal utensils may damage the coating.

How to clean the grill after use?

Unplug the appliance and let it cool down completely. Disconnect the cord (do not immerse it) and wipe it with a damp cloth. Clean the grill surface with a soft cloth and dish soap. The oil tray is dishwasher safe. Make sure the connector and its receptacle are completely dry before reuse.

Is the oil tray dishwasher safe?

Yes, the oil tray (oil reservoir) is dishwasher safe. Remove it after cooling and clean separately. Other parts must not be immersed.

What to do if the power cord is damaged?

If the power cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, its after-sales service or a similarly qualified person to avoid any hazard. Do not use the appliance with a damaged cord.

SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

Before use make sure to read all of the below instructions in order to avoid injury or damage, and to get the best results from the appliance. Make sure to keep this manual in a safe place. If you give or transfer this appliance to someone else make sure to also include this manual.

In case of damage caused by user failing to follow the instructions in this manual the warranty will be void. The manufacturer/importer accepts no liability for damages caused by failure to follow the manual, a negligent use or use not in accordance with the requirements of this manual.

1. This appliance can be used by children aged from 8 years and above and persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge if they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance in a safe way and understand the hazards involved.
2. Children shall not play with the appliance.
3. Cleaning and user maintenance shall not be made by children unless they are older than 8 and supervised.
4. Keep the appliance and its cord out of reach of children less than 8 years.
5. If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, its service agent or similarly qualified persons in order to avoid a hazard.
6. Regarding the instructions for cleaning the surfaces which come in contact with food or oil, please refer to the paragraphs "CLEANING INSTRUCTIONS" and "HINTS FOR CARE AND USE OF NON-STICK SURFACE".
7. This appliance is not intended to be operated by means of an external timer or separate remote-control system.
8. This appliance is intended to be used in household and similar applications such as: staff kitchen areas in shops, offices and other working environments; farm houses; by clients in hotels, motels and other residential type environments; bed and breakfast type environments.
9. Before inserting the plug into the mains socket, please check that the voltage and frequency comply with the specifications on the rating label.
10. Disconnect the mains plug from the socket when the appliance is not in use and before cleaning.
11. Ensure that the mains cable is not hung over sharp edges and keep it away from hot objects and open flames.
12. Do not immerse the appliance or the mains plug in water or other liquids. There is danger to life due to electric shock!
13. To remove the plug from the plug socket, pull the plug. Do not pull the power cord.
14. Do not touch the appliance if it falls into water. Remove the plug from its socket, turn off the appliance and send it to an authorized service center for repair.
15. Do not plug or unplug the appliance from the electrical outlet with a wet hand.
16. Never attempt to open the housing of the appliance, or to repair the appliance yourself. This could cause electric shock.

USING YOUR GRILL

1. Before first use, see CLEANING INSTRUCTIONS and HINTS FOR CARE AND USE OF NON-STICK SURFACE.
2. Attach the thermostat connector into the unit. Make sure the temperature control faces upwards. Insert the oil container into the slots on the back of the unit.
3. Connect the mains plug to a suitable socket.
4. Set the desired temperature by means of the temperature control 1/2/3/4/5. The indicator lamp lights up.
5. The unit, on its first use, might emit light smell. It is however of no consequence. Briefly ensure sufficient ventilation.
6. As soon as this temperature has been attained, the check light goes off.
7. When the grill has cooled down, the grill is heated up again automatically. The indicator light glows till the set temperature is attained again.
8. Always turn the temperature control to "OFF", to switch off the grill.
9. Pull out the mains plug from the socket and pull out the thermostat connector from the unit.
10. Carry the grill only by the handles.
11. Let the grill cool down outside the reach of the children. Caution: Grill surfaces are hot during use.

CLEANING INSTRUCTIONS

1. Unplug and allow it to cool completely before cleaning or moving.
2. Remove cord set (Do not immerse it in water), wipe with a damp cloth and dry thoroughly.

Caution: Probe and probe receptacle must always be completely dry before use.

Note: The oil container is dishwasher safe.

HINTS FOR CARE AND USE OF NON-STICK SURFACE

• To avoid scratching the non-stick surface, do not stack objects on grill.
• Use medium to low heat for best cooking results. Very high temperatures can cause discoloration and

shorten the life span of any non-stick surface. If higher temperatures are necessary, preheat on medium for a few minutes.

• Use only nylon, plastic or wooden utensils with care to avoid scratching the non-stick surface. Never cut food on the grill.
• Remove stubborn stains with a plastic scouring pad and mild dish washing liquid.
• Do not use steel wool.
