If you need to carry out any (re-)building work near the smoke alarm, you are advised to temporarily cover the smoke alarm up to avoid any dust getting into the unit. Note: when covered up, the smoke alarm becomes ineffective. Do not paint the smoke alarm or cover it up permanently.

The supplier cannot be held responsible for loss and/or damages of any nature, which include accidents and/or consequential damages, due to the alarm not being emitted in case of smoke or fire. If the smoke alarm does not work accordingly, please contact supplier for advise.

Warranty (excl. battery)

Under normal circumstances, this battery will last at least one years. The manufacturer warrants this product against any material and/or production defect during 3 years after the original purchase date. Any damage caused by accidents or improper care is not included in the 3 year warranty. If the product breaks within the indicated period of time, it will be replaced free of charge. Do not try to repair this product yourself, as this may lead to its warranty being nullified.

Thank you for purchasing the Flow Smoke Detector.

The Flow smoke alarm works in accordance with the photocell principle. This means that an alarm signal is being emitted once smoke caused by fire is detected.

This alarm does not detect heat, gas or fire and is intended for domestic use only.

The Flow smoke detector cannot prevent fire. Read these user-instructions thoroughly before fitting the smoke alarm. Properly store this manual for future reference.

Early detection of fire is done most effectively by placing smoke alarms in all rooms and areas of the house.

Fitting the battery

Warning: the battery cover will only close once a battery has been fitted. Removing the battery causes the smoke alarm to stop working.

Replacing battery

The smoke alarm works with a 9V DC block battery. When dealt with under normal circumstances, the average life time of this battery is one year. in case of an (almost) empty battery, the smoke alarm alerts you by transmitting an audible "beep" and a flashing LED lamp. This happens simultaneously every 30 to 40 seconds for a minimum of 7 days. Replace its battery when this signal occurs.

Attention: this intelligent smoke detector needs around 6 seconds to perform a test and an automatic calibration. This process starts once smoke detector is connected to its battery. A single flash of its red light, states that the smoke detector has gone into operating mode.

Functions:

Operating mode: the red LED indication flashes every 50 seconds, meaning the device is operating correctly.

Alarm: the red LED indication light flashes continuously along side the audible alarm that is being transmitted: smoke is detected.

Testing: you can test the smoke detector when it's in its operating mode, press the button until the LED indication flashes and the sound alarm is being transmitted. Release the button to stop testing.

Error: errors are indicated by the red LED indication light flashing 5 times simultaneously to 5 audible beeps sounding every 20-30 seconds.

Low voltage: the red LED indication light flashes once, simultaneously to 1 beep sounding every 30-40 seconds.

Lifetime: the red LED Indication light flashes 3 times, simultaneously to 3 audible beeps sounding every 50-60 seconds.

Warning: when in its intermission mode, the Flow smoke detector is non active and won't respond to any smoke formation.

Usage

Press the test button on the smoke alarm until the alarm signal sounds. Test the smoke alarm once a week, after a period of absence, after cleaning the smoke alarm and test it every time its battery is replaced. The smoke alarm must be regularly vacuumed to remove any dust particles and ensure optimal working condition.

Removal

Handle this battery as chemical waste. Do not throw away the smoke alarm as normal household refuse, but hand it in to be recycled. Question your municipal environment service to hand in possibilities for recycling.

What should you do in case of fire

• Leave the house immediately according to its flight route. Every second counts, don't waste time getting dressed and/or collecting valuables.
• Stay close to the ground in case of heavy smoke, breathe softly through a (wet) cloth.
• Once outside, call the fire department. Do not make this phonecall from inside the house. Ask neighbors for help if necessary.
• Only enter the house once it is declared save by the fire department.
