BEFORE INSTALLING THE FRIDGE

Before connecting your refrigerator to the power supply, check that the voltage stated on the rating label of your appliance corresponds to the voltage in your home.

Ensure that the plug remains accessible after installation.

The appliance must be grounded. The manufacturer is not responsible for damages that may occur as a result of usage without grounding.

INSTALLATION

Install the appliance in a dry, well ventilated room. The installation location should neither be exposed to direct sunlight nor near a heat source, e.g. a cooker, radiator, etc.

To ensure adequate ventilation for the appliance, allow a minimum of 10 cm of airspace on each side of the cabinet.

For uneven surfaces, front feet can be aligned.

AMBIENT TEMPERATURE

This appliance is designed to operate in ambient temperature between 16^ C and 38^ C. If these temperatures are exceeded, i.e. colder or warmer, the appliance will not operate correctly. If the ambient temperatures are exceeded for long periods, the temperature in the fridge will rise above 4^ C and food spoilage may occur.

BEFORE PLACING FOOD IN THE FRIDGE

- Remove all packaging.

- Allow the appliance to run empty for 2 – 3 hours so the compartment can cool to the appropriate temperature.

- Clean the inside of the appliance with warm water and a little liquid detergent to remove manufacturing and transportation dust.

TEMPERATURE CONTROL

The fridge is controlled with a temperature control knob located inside it. Adjust the control knob as desired to suit your individual preference.

0 is off setting

1 is cold setting

7 is coldest setting

PROLINE PLF242L - TEMPERATURE CONTROL - 1

text_image 4 5 3 6 2 7 1 0

In the off position (0) the appliance does not operate (the cooling system is switched off), but power supply is not interrupted.

The running time and temperature are affected by where the fridge is located, how often the door is opened and the temperature of the room the fridge is located in.

When you use the appliance for the first time or after defrosting, adjust the control knob to the coldest setting for at least 2 hours before introducing food to be stored, and then readjust to the middle setting.

MOVING YOUR APPLIANCE

If the appliance is turned off for any reason, wait for 10 minutes before turning it back on. This will allow the refrigeration system pressures to equalise before restarting.

  • Turn off the appliance and unplug it from the mains socket. Remove all food. Also remove all mobile parts (shelves, accessories, etc.) or fix them into the fridge to avoid any shock.
  • Relocate and install. If the appliance has been left on its side for any length of time, leave it standing upright for at least 10 minutes before turning on.

Your appliance uses isobutane (R600a) as a refrigerant. Although R600a is an environmentally friendly and natural gas, it is explosive. Therefore you should be careful during shipment and installation to prevent your appliance's cooler elements from being damaged. In the event of a leak caused by damage to the cooler elements, move your fridge from open flame or heat sources and ventilate the room where the appliance is located for a few minutes.

STORING FOOD IN THE FRIDGE

The fridge helps to extend the storage times of fresh perishable foods.

Fresh food care

For best results:

  • Store foods that are very fresh and of good quality.
  • Ensure that food is well wrapped or covered before it is stored. This will prevent food from dehydrating, deteriorating in colour or losing taste and will help maintain freshness. It will also prevent odour transfer.
  • Make sure that strong smelling foods are wrapped or covered and stored away from foods such as butter, milk and cream which can be tainted by strong odours.
  • Cool hot foods down before placing them in the fridge.

Dairy foods and eggs

  • Most pre-packed dairy foods have a recommended ‘use by /best before/best by/’ date stamped on them. Store them in the refrigerator compartment and use within the recommended time.
  • Butter can become tainted by strong smelling foods so it is best stored in a sealed container.
  • Eggs can be stored in the fridge.

PROLINE PLF242L - Dairy foods and eggs - 1

natural_image Illustration of milk carton, cheese, and breadboard (no text or symbols)

Red meat

  • Place fresh red meat on a plate and loosely cover with waxed paper, plastic wrap or foil.
  • Store cooked and raw meat on separate plates. This will prevent any juice lost from the raw meat from contaminating the cooked product.

PROLINE PLF242L - Red meat - 1

natural_image Simple line drawing of a biological or geological cross-section (no text or symbols)

Poultry

  • Fresh whole birds should be rinsed inside and out with cold running water, dried and placed on a plate. Cover loosely with plastic wrap or foil.
  • Poultry pieces should also be stored this way. Whole poultry should never be stuffed until just before cooking, otherwise food poisoning may result.

PROLINE PLF242L - Poultry - 1

natural_image Simple line drawing of a whole roasted chicken with legs and decorative base (no text or symbols)

Fish and seafood

- Whole fish and fillets should be used on the day of purchase. Until required, refrigerate on a plate loosely covered with plastic wrap, waxed paper or foil.

- If storing overnight or longer, take particular care to select very fresh fish. Whole fish should be rinsed in cold water to remove loose scales and dirt and then patted dry with paper towels. Place whole fish or fillets in a sealed plastic bag.

- Keep shellfish chilled at all times. Use within 1 -2 days.

PROLINE PLF242L - Fish and seafood - 1

natural_image Line drawing of a fish with scales and decorative elements (no text or symbols)

Precooked foods and leftovers

• These should be stored in suitable covered containers so that the food will not dry out.

- Keep for only 1 – 2 days.

- Reheat leftovers only once and until steaming hot.

- The vegetable container is the optimum storage location for fresh fruit and vegetables.

• Take care not to store the following at temperatures of less than 7^ C for long periods:

Citrus fruit, melons, aubergines, pineapple, papaya, courgettes, passion fruit, cucumber, peppers, tomatoes.

- Undesirable changes will occur at low temperatures such as softening of the flesh, browning and/or accelerated decaying.

- Do not refrigerate avocados (until they are ripe), bananas, mangoes.

We apologise for any inconvenience caused by minor inconsistencies in these instructions, which may occur as a result of product improvement and development.

natural_image Warning symbol with exclamation mark inside a downward arrow (no text or numbers)

The symbol indicates the location of the coldest part of your refrigerator. This area is in between the vegetable compartment at the bottom and the symbol at the top, or the shelf at the same height. In order to maintain the temperature in this area, make sure not to change the position of this shelf.

In pulsed air refrigerators (equipped with a fan) or No Frost models, the coldest area symbol is not shown because the temperature is uniform throughout the interior.

INSTALLING THE TEMPERATURE INDICATOR

To help you adjust your refrigerator correctly, it is equipped with a temperature indicator that you can use to control the average temperature in the coldest area.

WARNING: This indicator is only intended for use in your refrigerator. Do not use it in another refrigerator (as the coldest area will not be the same) or for any other purpose.

TEMPERATURE INDICATOR: THE COLDEST PART OF YOUR REFRIGERATOR

PROLINE PLF242L - INSTALLING THE TEMPERATURE INDICATOR - 1

text_image Diagram showing a refrigerator with an open door and a labeled component, illustrating the internal structure and assembly.

CHECKING THE TEMPERATURE IN THE COLDEST AREA

• Using the temperature indicator, you should regularly check that the temperature is correct in the coldest part of your refrigerator. The temperature inside your refrigerator depends on a number of factors, such as the outside room temperature, how full your refrigerator is, and how often you open the door. Take these factors into consideration when adjusting your appliance.

When the indicator shows "OK", it means your thermostat is set properly and the temperature inside your refrigerator is correct.

If the indicator is white it means the temperature is too high, so you should

increase the thermostat and wait for 12 hours before checking the indicator

again.

After loading the refrigerator or opening the door, the indicator may turn

white for a few seconds.
