Frequently Asked Questions - NWC029SS01 NewAir

How do I adjust the temperature of my NewAir NWC029SS01 wine cooler?
Use the arrow buttons (▲/▼) on the control panel. For the upper zone, set between 40°F and 50°F (5°C to 10°C). For the lower zone, set between 50°F and 66°F (10°C to 18°C). The temperature changes in 1-degree increments.
What should I do if the interior light does not work?
First check that the Light button is pressed. If the light remains off, there may be an issue with the display panel or the plug. Contact the manufacturer (support@newair.com) for assistance.
Why is my wine cooler vibrating?
Vibrations may come from an unstable floor or improperly adjusted feet. Make sure the unit is level by adjusting the front feet. If the problem persists, check that the fan is not obstructed.
How do I clean the interior of the wine cooler?
Unplug the unit and remove all contents. Clean the interior with a mixture of warm water and baking soda (2 tablespoons per liter of water). Rinse the water reservoir at the bottom of the unit after removing its screws.
Can I use an extension cord with this wine cooler?
No, using an extension cord is not recommended and voids the warranty. Always plug the unit directly into a grounded wall outlet.
What is the capacity of this wine cooler?
The model NWC029SS01 can hold up to 29 bottles of standard-size wine, distributed on several shelves.
How long can I store wine in this cooler?
That depends on the type of wine. For example, a Cabernet Sauvignon can be stored for 7 to 10 years, a Pinot Noir about 5 years, while a Beaujolais should be drunk immediately. Refer to the storage guide provided in the manual.
How do I properly install my wine cooler?
Allow the unit to stand upright for 2 hours before plugging it in. Place it on a flat surface that can support its weight (about 36 kg). Clean the interior with warm water. Adjust the feet to level it.
What should I do if the door does not close properly?
Check that the unit is level. Inspect the hinge and door gasket. If the gasket is weak, replace it (part available from the manufacturer). Make sure the shelves are pushed back fully.
How do I replace the door gasket?
The door gasket is a replacement part available from NewAir. To replace it, remove the old gasket by prying it off, then install the new one by pressing it firmly into the groove. Contact customer service if needed.

Before connecting the appliance to a power source, let it stand upright for approximately 24 hours. This will reduce the possibility of a malfunction in the cooling system from handling during transportation.

Before operating your wine cooler for the first time, follow these steps:

  • Remove the exterior and interior packing.
  • Clean the interior surface of the unit with lukewarm water and a soft cloth.
  • Place the cooler on a level surface that will be strong enough to support the unit when it is fully loaded. To level your cooler, adjust the front feet located at the bottom of the unit.

INSTALLING THE STAINLESS-STEEL HANDLE

To install the handle, follow the instructions below:

  1. Remove the rubber gasket from the right side of the inside of the door (you don't need to remove the whole gasket, just the side that covers the openings for the screws).
  2. Remove the screws from the included bag. Feed the screws through the holes from the inside until they poke through to the outside front of the door frame.
  3. Align the handle with the two screws, then tighten the screws into the handle using a screwdriver until the handle is both flush and secured tightly against the door frame. DO NOT over-tighten the screws, as you may cause damage to the door frame.

HOW TO USE YOUR MOISTURE TRAY

Your unit comes with a small water tray to help moisturize corks and or wooden shelves so they don't dry out. Fill the tray halfway and place it on the middle shelf— horizontally and towards the back —so moisture is evenly distributed throughout the inside of the cabinet. Refill the tray when it is a quarter of the way empty and exercise caution when removing or restocking bottles so water does not spill out.

CLEANING & MAINTENANCE

CLEANING YOUR COOLER

To clean your cooler:

• Unplug the cooler and remove anything inside.
- Wash the inside of the unit with a solution made of warm water and baking soda solution (2 tablespoons of baking soda to one quart of water).
- Unscrew the water reservoir at the bottom of the unit and rinse with water.
• To clean the outside of the unit, use a mild detergent and warm water.

MOVING YOUR COOLER

To move your cooler:

  • Remove anything stored inside.
  • Securely tape down all loose parts located inside the unit.
  • Turn the leveling feet up to the base in order to avoid damage.
  • Tape the door shut.

Be sure the cooler stays in an upright position during transportation.

WINE STORAGE GUIDE

  • The ideal temperature for storing red or white wines is 55^ F, with humidity between 60% and 75% RH.
  • Store corked bottles on their sides, to keep the cork from drying out and allowing air into the bottle.
    • UV rays make wine age faster, so keep bottles out of direct sunlight.
  • Avoid heavy vibrations from motors, etc.
  • Store wine separately from strong odors that might contaminate the flavor of the wine.

HOW LONG SHOULD I STORE MY WINE?

While most wines today are meant to be drunk “young” (within a few years of production) some fine wines are best served by proper aging. But aging too long can decrease the flavor of the wine. Generally speaking, red wines can age longer than white wines, but here is a storage guide for some popular vintages.

Cabernet Sauvignon.... 7-10 years
Pinot Noir 5 years
Merlot 3-5 years
Zinfandel 2-5 years
Beaujolais.... Drink now
Chardonnay.... 2-3 years
Riesling 3-5 years
Sauvignon Blanc.... 18 months – 2 years
Pinot Gris.... 1-2 years
Champagne ...... Ready to drink
