How to switch to manual focus (MF)?

Turn the focus ring until the distance indicator appears. The lens will then operate in MF mode regardless of the camera setting.

What is the L-Fn button for?

The L-Fn button allows you to stop autofocus when pressed. You can assign other functions depending on your camera.

How to clean the lens?

Blow off dust with a blower, then gently wipe with lens cleaning paper.

Can I use multiple filters at the same time?

It is not recommended to stack multiple filters as this may cause vignetting (cut-off image edges). Use a single slim filter if possible.

Is the flash compatible with this lens?

Yes, but the flash light may be obstructed by the lens or hood depending on angles. Check for shadows.

How to attach the lens hood?

Align the mark on the hood with that on the lens and turn until it clicks. To remove, press the release button and turn.

What is the minimum focusing distance?

The minimum distance is 0.2 m (7.9 inches) from subject to sensor.

Can I use this lens on an Olympus camera without an adapter?

Yes, because it uses the Micro Four Thirds mount, compatible with all Olympus and Panasonic cameras of this mount.

Is the lens weather-sealed?

The manual does not mention sealing. For use in wet conditions, take precautions.

What to do if autofocus does not work?

Check the focus ring position: if the distance indicator is visible, the lens is in MF mode. Turn the ring to switch to AF.

Focus ring

Slide to change the focus method (Fig. 1 and 2) (manual focus clutch mechanism).

- Position in which distance indicator cannot be seen (Fig. 1)

The lens will operate in the focus mode set by the camera.

- Position in which distance indicator can be seen (Fig. 2)

The lens will operate in the MF mode, regardless of the focus mode set by the camera.

Focus by rotating the lens focus ring.

Depth of field varies with the aperture selected with the camera, and is shown by the depth-of-field indicator on the lens.

L-Fn button

The AF stops functioning while the button is pressed.

You may be able to assign other functions depending on your camera. For details, see the instruction manual that came with your camera.

To remove the hood, rotate it while pressing the release.

Notes on Shooting

• If autofocus (AF) is unavailable, check the sliding position of the focus ring.
• Edges of pictures may be cut off if more than one filter is used or if a thick filter is used.
• When using a flash, flash light may be blocked by the lens body, lens hood, etc.
• The focus distance may change when you slide the focus ring.
• The distance and depth-of-field indicators are intended as guides only.

Blow dust off the lens with a commercially available blower. For the lens, wipe gently with a lens cleaning paper.
