Protection class 2
This symbol indicates that the appliance is classified as protection class 2 (double insulated).
Class 2 appliances are not connected to the earth of the electricity supply. Instead, they feature an enhanced or doubled insulation up to the rated insulation voltage between the live parts and the parts that can be touched. Accordingly, electrically conductive surfaces or other parts that can be touched are isolated by an enhanced or doubled insulation from live parts.

Place of use and connection to power supply
- Remove all packaging material and keep it out of reach of children. After removing the packaging, check for any damage or signs of faults or defects in the appliance. If in doubt, do not use the appliance and contact your dealer to examine and/or replace it.
- Select a suitable location for the fan heater, at least one metre from any obstacle, walls or flammable materials (see also the safety information).
- Ensure that the fan heater is always placed upright on a stable, smooth and horizontal surface.
- Check that the control is set to OFF (O).
- Unwind the power cable completely and insert the plug into a suitable 230 V socket. To prevent overloading to the supply, do not connect any other appliance to the same mains circuit.
s
Starting up and functions
- Turn the thermostat up to maximum (clockwise as far as it will go).
- Operate the fan heater by turning the function controller to one of the three positions:
Fan only (thermostat set to maximum)
I Heating at half power (1000 W)
II Heating at full power (2000 W)
The indicator lamp on the front of the unit now lights up. The most economical way of using the heater is to heat the room up at full power and then to switch to half power to maintain the temperature.
- The fan operates at the same speed for both half and full power, and the only difference is the number of heating elements used.
- Once the desired temperature is reached, turn the thermostat controller slowly down until you hear a click. The temperature is now set.
The fan heater will switch itself automatically on and off to maintain the set temperature. When the unit switches off, the signal lamp goes out. To set a higher or lower temperature, simply turn the thermostat controller clockwise or anticlockwise respectively.
- To switch the fan heater off, set the power controller to OFF (O). The signal lamp goes out. The signal lamp thus indicates that the fan heater is operating and not simply whether it is connected to the mains supply or not.
- Now pull the mains plug from the socket.
Safety features
The fan heater features tip protection that switches the appliance off if it should fall over unexpectedly. When you stand it up again, it resumes operation.
But to do this, first switch the appliance off, remove the plug from the power socket and check the fan heater for any damage. Do not use the appliance if it is damaged or does not function correctly. Take it for inspection and if necessary for repair.
NOTE
Overheating protection causes the fan heater to cut out if it becomes too hot.
This can occur if the heater cannot fully expel all its heat or if too little fresh air is available for it to draw in. The usual cause of this is that something is covering or partly covering the heater or that the air inlet or outlet grille is blocked or clogged; other causes are the presence of dirt or a positioning of the unit too close e.g. to a wall.
If the overheating protection of the fan heater cuts out, set the function controller to OFF (O), then unplug from the power socket and allow the unit to cool down. You should remove the cause of the overheating before operating the fan heater again.
If you cannot identify the cause of the overheating and the problem persists, stop using the heater and take it for examination and possible repair.
Cleaning and maintenance
Keep the fan heater clean. The build-up of dust and dirt in the appliance is one of the commonest causes of overheating. You should therefore remove such dirt regularly. Before cleaning or performing maintenance, switch the fan heater off, remove the plug from the socket and allow to cool.
- Clean the outside of the appliance regularly with a dry or very slightly moistened cloth. Do not use any abrasive soap, spray, detergents or scouring agents, wax, glazing agents or other chemical solutions.
- Use a vacuum cleaner to carefully remove dirt and dust from the grilles and check that the air inlets and outlets are clean. When cleaning these, take care not to touch or damage any internal parts.
- The fan heater does not contain any other components that require maintenance.
- When the heating season ends, carefully pack the fan heater away, where possible in its original packaging. Store it upright in a cool, dry and dusty-free place.
- When the appliance reaches the end of its useful life, do not dispose of it in the domestic waste. Take it instead to a local collection point for electrical equipment. Care will then be taken to recycle any re-usable materials.
