Frequently Asked Questions - ToastQwik TQ32000 Hatco

How to clean the Hatco ToastQwik TQ32000 toaster?
Before cleaning, put the appliance in standby, let it cool, turn off the switch and unplug the cord. Clean the exterior surfaces daily with a non-abrasive damp cloth. Remove the crumb tray and the toast pan (model TQ3-400) and wash them with warm water and mild detergent. For the fan filter, clean it once a month with warm water and let it dry completely before reinstalling. Use a non-aggressive degreaser for the touchscreen. Never immerse the appliance or use a pressure jet.
How to activate PowerSave mode?
PowerSave mode can be activated manually by touching the energy saving icon ( ) on the control panel touchscreen. The conveyor stops and the heat decreases to a settable percentage. You can also activate automatic mode via the Service screen (password 248): set the idle time before activation and the reduced heat level. To exit the mode, touch the icon again: the ColorGuard system adjusts the conveyor speed for uniform color during recovery (about 10 minutes).
What to do if the bread is too light or too dark?
First check that the correct menu item is selected on the touchscreen. If the color is not correct, use the Lighter/Darker icon ( ) during operation: touch it up to five times to lighten or darken the result. Also ensure that the power supply voltage matches the specifications (see label). If the problem persists, consult the Troubleshooting Guide in the manual.
How to program a custom menu item?
From the Menu screen, press and hold (3 seconds) the icon of the item to modify. The programming menu appears with settings: Top Heat and Bottom Heat from 1 to 100%, Belt Time. Use the + and - arrows to adjust. You can also change the name and image of the item by pressing on it. Confirm by touching the return icon. All 12 menu items are customizable.
How to update the toaster firmware?
Download the latest firmware version from the Hatco website onto a USB drive. Power on the appliance, touch the Service icon ( ) on the Menu screen, enter password 248, then press FIRMWARE. Insert the USB drive into the port under the touchscreen (slide the cover). Press UPDATE: the update takes about 30 seconds. Do not remove the USB drive or turn off the appliance during the update. Once completed, the appliance restarts and displays the new version.
What to do if the toaster overheats or the warning light comes on?
If the warning light (models TQ3-500, TQ3-900, TQ3-2000) lights up on the control panel, this may indicate overheating due to fan failure or obstruction. Stop the appliance immediately, turn the switch to OFF and unplug it. Let it cool. Check that the fan filter is not obstructed and that the unit is not placed in an area restricting airflow. Contact a Hatco authorized service agent if the problem persists.
What is the warranty on heating elements?
The metal tubular heating elements are warranted for two years against breakage and electrical failure. This warranty is in addition to Hatco's standard limited warranty. For parts and labor, coverage is one year plus an additional year for parts (elements) under the general conditions. See the manual for full details.
How to install the toaster correctly?
Place the appliance on a level, solid countertop, indoors (ambient temperature between 21°C and 29°C). Leave a minimum of 25 mm free space on the sides and back, and 305 mm at the front (measured from the opening). Do not place the appliance under a shelf or less than 305 mm from the ceiling. Plug into a dedicated grounded outlet with correct voltage and configuration. For TQ3-400 models, install the removable toast pan under the discharge area.
Can you toast buttered or coated bread (garlic bread, cheese toast)?
It is not recommended to toast coated or buttered products such as garlic bread, cheese toast or brioches. Residues can reduce toaster performance, cause fire and void the warranty. Use the appliance only for unbuttered products, such as regular bread, bagels or dry rolls.
How to access the Service screen and what settings can be made?
From the Menu screen, touch the Service icon ( ) and enter the 3-digit password: 248. The Service screen provides access to: setting automatic PowerSave mode, modifying control parameters (password activation for menu items, disabling ColorGuard, logo setting), firmware update, and diagnostic information. Use the EXIT keys to return to the main menu.

ELECTRIC SHOCK HAZARD:

  • Plug unit into a properly grounded electrical receptacle of the correct voltage, size, and plug configuration. If plug and receptacle do not match, contact a qualified electrician to determine and install proper voltage and size electrical receptacle.
  • Put unit in standby, allow to cool, turn OFF power switch, and unplug power cord before performing cleaning, adjustments, maintenance, or attempting to clear a jam.
  • Unit is not weatherproof. Locate unit indoors where ambient air temperature is a minimum of 70°F (21°C) and a maximum of 85°F (29°C).
  • DO NOT submerge or saturate with water. Unit is not waterproof. Do not operate if unit has been submerged or saturated with water.

- Do not steam clean or use excessive water on unit.

- This unit is not "jet-proof" construction. Do not use jet-clean spray to clean this unit.

- Do not clean unit when it is energized or hot.

- Do not allow liquids to spill into unit.

- Do not pull unit by power cord.

- Discontinue use if power cord is frayed or worn.

- Do not attempt to repair or replace a damaged power cord. Cord must be replaced by Hatco, an Authorized Hatco Service Agent, or a person with similar qualifications.

- Never insert a knife, fork, or similar object into toasting chamber.

- Do not pick up the toaster by inserting fingers into the toaster feed opening.

- This unit must be serviced by qualified personnel only. Service by unqualified personnel may lead to electric shock or burn.

- Use only Genuine Hatco Replacement Parts when service is required. Failure to use Genuine Hatco Replacement Parts will void all warranties and may subject operators of the equipment to hazardous electrical voltage, resulting in electrical shock or burn. Genuine Hatco Replacement Parts are specified to operate safely in the environments in which they are used. Some after-market or generic replacement parts do not have the characteristics that will allow them to operate safely in Hatco equipment.

EXPLOSION HAZARD: Do not store or use gasoline or other flammable vapors or liquids in the vicinity of this or any other appliance.

WARNING

FIRE HAZARD:

  • Allow a minimum clearance of 1" (25 mm) along the sides and rear of unit. Allow a minimum clearance of 12" (305 mm) in the front, measured from cha opening on toaster body. If safe distances are not maintained, discoloration or combustion could occur.
  • Do not locate toaster under shelving or closer than 12" (305 mm) from the ceiling.
