Before first use 1 Remove all packaging materials, stickers and accessories from the inside and the outside of the appliance. Select a dry, level location where grill will be used, leaving enough space between the back of the grill and wall to allow heat to flow without damage to cabinets and walls. 2 Wipe grill plates with a soapy sponge, then wipe clean with a wet sponge to remove any remaining soap. 3 Place the juice tray under the bottom housing of the grill until it reaches the blocked position. The juice tray will allow the run off to be collected at the front and back of the grill. 4 Fully unwind the power cord. Make sure that the electric power supply is compatible with the power rating and voltage indicated on the bottom of the appliance.

If the power supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer or its service agent or a similarly qualified person in order to avoid a hazard. The power supply cord should be regularly examined for signs of damage, and if the cord is damaged, the appliance must not be used. On first use, there may be a slight odor and a little smoke during the first few minutes. In these cases, open the windows and wait until there is no more smoke or odor. This appliance is not intended to be operated by means of an external timer or separate remote-control system. 6 To pre-heat the appliance, turn the dial to the desired tem- perature setting. After pre-heating, the appliance is ready for use. The preheat indicator light comes on to indicate the grill is heating. When the selected temperature is reached, the preheat indicator light will go out. The preheat indicator light will turn on and off during cooking to indicate your desired temperature is being maintained. Allow the grill to preheat for at least 5 minutes before grilling. If desired, use a kitchen timer. 7 Do not move the appliance when in use. Carefully place foods to be cooked on lower grilling plate.

Connection and pre-heating

Do not leave the appliance unattended during use or when plugged in. Light pressure can be used on the handle to press and heat food to your liking. Important: Do not use heavy pressure on the lid of the grill at any time. To prevent heat loss and for even cooking, do not open the lid frequently. For best results, do not overload the grill. Remember that since grill is cooking from both sides, cooking time will typically be shorter than expected. Watch carefully to avoid overcooking. For added flavor, add dry seasonings or marinades into the flavor infuser inlet before grilling. 9 Once cooking is complete, carefully open the grill cover using a pot holder. Always use silicone, heatproof plastic or wood utensils to avoid scratching nonstick surface of grill plates. Never use metal spatulas skewers, tongs, forks or knives. Never cut directly on the plates 10 Do not remove the juice tray while cooking. If the juice tray becomes full when cooking, let the appliance cool down before emptying. Wash and dry juice tray after each use. To preserve the non-stick properties of the coating, do not cook food in aluminium foil. Never run the appliance empty. Do not place cooking ustensils on the cooking surfaces of the appliance.

Tfal-CURVGRIL-2100071374 11/04/12 09:14 Page811 Place the thermostat in the min. position before unplugging. 12 Before cleaning, unplug grill from wall outlet and allow to cool at least 2 hours. 13 To avoid accidental burns, allow grill to cool thoroughly before cleaning. 14 Place juice tray under front of grill. Use plastic spatula to scrape off any excess fat and food particles left on the grill plates directly into the juice tray.

15 Use a warm, soapy sponge to wipe plates clean, then rinse sponge and wipe again to remove any soapy residue. Dry thoroughly with an absorbent paper towel. To remove stubborn buildup, use a nylon or nonmetallic scrubbing pad to clean the grill plates. Do not use metallic scrubbing pads, steel wool or any abrasive cleaners to clean any part of your grill; use only nylon or nonmetallic scrubbing pads. Empty juice tray and wash in warm, soapy water; dry thoroughly with a paper towel. To clean the grill cover, wipe with a warm, wet sponge and dry with a soft, dry cloth. 16 Do not immerse the body of grill in water or any other liquid. 17 Always make sure grill is clean and dry before storing.
