Frequently Asked Questions - Exploralight Ferplast

How to install the Exploralight ceiling light?
Mount the 2 brackets by sliding them along the lower guides, attach the 4 suction cups. Place the anti-glare blade (if you have a Ferplast EXPLORA terrarium). Fix the ceiling light above the terrarium with the suction cups: the front suction cups on the glass, the rear ones on the sheet without openings.
What type of lamp to use?
The Exploralight ceiling light accepts T8 fluorescent tubes of power 15W, 18W or 30W depending on the model. Use lamps suitable for terrarium lighting, including UVA-UVB lamps.
Can I use UV lamps?
Yes, it is recommended to place the UVA-UVB lamp at the back of the ceiling light so that the rays pass through the rear slots. The front glass could filter out beneficial UV.
How to replace a lamp?
Unplug the device. Unscrew the two sealing rings from the sockets. Turn the lamp a quarter turn to align the pins with the slot, then remove it. Insert the new lamp by turning it a quarter turn until it clicks. Tighten the rings.
What to do if the power cord is damaged?
A damaged cord requires complete replacement of the device. Do not attempt to repair it yourself for safety reasons.
What is the lifespan of the lamps?
It is recommended to replace the lamps at least once a year to maintain an optimal emission spectrum. The exact lifespan depends on the lamp type and usage.
How to clean the ceiling light?
Unplug the device. Clean the outside with a damp cloth. Do not immerse in water. Make sure the rings are tightly closed to maintain sealing.
Does the warranty cover the lamps?
No, the Ferplast warranty only covers manufacturing defects of the ceiling light and its components. Lamps are excluded from the warranty.
What terrariums are suitable for the ceiling light?
The recommended dimensions are: 50/60 cm for the 15W model, 80/80 H cm for the 18W, and 110/110 H cm for the 30W. It is designed for Ferplast EXPLORA terrariums, but can adapt to others.
Why is my ceiling light not turning on?
Check that the lamps are properly inserted and turned a quarter turn. Make sure the power is connected and the residual current circuit breaker has not tripped. If the problem persists, contact a qualified installer.
