How do I charge the battery of my Ricoh GR IIIx?

Use the supplied USB adapter (AC-U1 or AC-U2) and the USB cable. Plug the adapter into a wall outlet, connect the cable to the camera, the indicator lights up and charging takes about 2h30. You can also charge via a computer (USB) or with the optional BJ-11 charger.

How do I format a memory card?

Press MENU, select the ⚙ (Setup) tab, then Format. Choose Memory card or Internal memory. Confirm with Execute. Caution: all data will be erased.

How do I switch to macro mode for close-ups?

In shooting mode, press the top ▲ (macro) button. The macro icon appears. Focus is from 12 to 24 cm from the front of the lens. To exit, press ▲ again.

Why are my photos blurry?

Check focus: AF mode may fail on low-contrast subjects. Switch to MF (manual focus) or use Snap for a fixed distance. Enable stabilization (SR) in the Shooting Assist menu. Use a tripod if shutter speed is slow.

How do I connect the camera to a smartphone?

Enable Bluetooth in menu 6 (Wireless Connection) > Bluetooth Setting. Download the Image Sync app on your smartphone. Follow pairing: on the camera, go to Bluetooth Setting > Pairing. Once connected, you can transfer images and use GPS location.

What should I do if the camera screen does not turn on?

Check that the battery is charged and properly inserted. If the camera does not turn on, remove the battery, reinsert it and try again. Connect the AC adapter to test. If nothing works, contact customer service.

How do I take videos with the GR IIIx?

Press the □ (video/wifi) button to switch to video mode. Set focus (AF or MF). Press the shutter button to start recording, press again to stop. Videos are recorded in 1920x1080 (60p/30p/24p). Sound is recorded by default.

How do I use an external flash?

Remove the hot shoe cover, turn off the camera and flash, attach the flash to the hot shoe (compatible with PENTAX AF540FGZ, AF360FGZ, AF201FG). Turn on both devices. The flash fires according to the flash mode selected in the Exposure Setting menu > Flash mode.

How do I reset the camera settings?

Go to the ⚙ (Setup) menu, tab 11 (Reset). Select the items to reset (by menu type) or reset all. Confirm with Execute. Reset restores default settings.

What exposure modes are available and how do I use them?

Turn the mode dial to P (Program AE) for automatic adjustment, Av (Aperture Priority) to control depth of field, Tv (Shutter Priority) to freeze or blur motion, M (Manual) for full control. Use the dials and the ADJ lever to adjust values.
