Frequently Asked Questions - IL1346W Royal Sovereign

What type of pouches should be used with the Royal Sovereign IL1346W laminator?
Use hot or cold laminating pouches from 3 to 7 mil (0.076 to 0.178 mm) with a maximum width of 330 mm. For cold lamination, use specific self-adhesive pouches.
How to avoid pouch jams?
Always insert the pouch with the sealed side first. Do not cut pouches before use. Ensure the total thickness does not exceed the recommended 7 mil.
What to do in case of a jam?
Press and hold the touch sensor reverse until the pouch comes out from the front. If necessary, assist it manually. Wait 8 seconds before re-laminating.
What is the difference between hot and cold lamination?
Hot lamination heats the pouch for thermal adhesion; it requires a 60-second preheat. Cold lamination uses pressure-sensitive adhesive pouches and requires no heating.
How long does preheating take?
Approximately 60 seconds. The indicator blinks during preheating and becomes solid with a beep when the temperature is reached.
Can thick items like cardboard be laminated?
No, only laminate standard paper documents (max 80 g/m²). For thicker paper, select a higher setting (5, 6, or 7 mil).
How to clean the laminator?
Unplug the machine and let it cool. Clean the exterior with a soft, dry cloth. Never use water or solvents.
Does the machine shut off automatically?
Yes, it has an auto shut-off after 30 minutes of inactivity. The fan continues to run to cool the machine for about 15-20 minutes.
What are important safety precautions?
Do not immerse in water, do not use with a damaged cord, keep out of reach of children, do not block ventilation openings, and unplug if not used for an extended period.
Where to find after-sales service?
Contact Royal Sovereign at 1-800-397-1025 or visit www.royalsovereign.com for repairs and spare parts. The one-year warranty covers manufacturing defects.

Fast speed

- Laminates up to 23.6" (600 mm) per minute. This machine is equipped with overheat protection and will automatically turn off the unit after 30 minutes of non-use.

PRODUCT OPERATION

Before laminating important or unique documents, always test a pouch through the laminator using a similar document.

Hot/Cold Lamination

  1. Place the machine on a flat, sturdy surface and press the power touch sensor to turn on the machine.
  2. Press the setting control touch sensor to toggle between Cold Lamination and Hot Lamination options ranging from 3-7 Mil.

- For hot lamination, the machine will take approximately 60 seconds to warm-up. Hot lamination can begin when the desired film text is solid and has stopped flashing. The machine will beep to notify you when it is ready for use.

NOTE: Standard temperature setting is based on 20lb/80g/m2 copy paper thickness. When laminating thicker materials, the temperature may not be high enough. In this case, please select the 5 Mil, 6 Mil or 7 Mil film setting depending on how thick the intended paper is.

- Cold lamination does not require any warm up. As soon as the unit is turned on, it is ready for use.

NOTE: If the machine was previously used in hot mode, allow approximately 25 minutes to cool down.

  1. Place the item to be laminated into the laminating pouch.

- For Cold Lamination you need adhesive Cold Laminating or Self-Seal Pouches. To laminate, place the item on the adhesive side of the cold film with the document face down.

  1. Insert the pouch film into the front opening of the laminator. Make sure to place the sealed end of the pouch film in first.

- For Cold Lamination remove the paper liner from the cold film slowly while the document is being inserted into the machine.

Before laminating important or unique documents, always test a pouch through the laminator using a similar document.

Hot/Cold Lamination

  1. The document or photo will then automatically feed out through the back of the machine. NOTE: Laminated items exiting the machine may be too hot to touch.

  2. If the item is not completely laminated, repeat steps 4-5. NOTE: For Hot lamination, laminated items will be hot and will easily bend. To keep the item flat, place on a flat surface and allow to cool.

  3. If you turn the unit off, the fan will continue to run to cool down the laminator. The fan will automatically turn off when the unit is cool. This will take approximately 15-20 minutes.
