How to turn on the Steba WK 31 Thermo kettle?

Place the kettle on the base, it will emit two beeps. Press the ON/OFF button (10). The appliance heats immediately to 100 °C. You can also set a lower temperature before pressing ON/OFF.

How to adjust the water temperature?

Use buttons (9) to decrease or (11) to increase the temperature. Available steps are 40, 50, 60, 70, 80, 90 °C. Then press ON/OFF to start heating. The display shows the current temperature.

What to do if the display does not light up after plugging in the kettle?

First check that the socket is powered and the fuse works. Make sure the kettle is properly plugged in. If the problem persists, contact Steba after-sales service.

How to clean the Steba WK 31 Thermo kettle?

Unplug and let it cool completely. Never immerse the kettle. Clean the exterior with a damp cloth and a little dish soap, then dry. For stains on the heating plate, use a stainless steel cleaner.

How to descale the kettle?

Fill the kettle with a mixture of water and vinegar or a descaling agent. Heat the mixture, then rinse thoroughly with clean water. Repeat if necessary. Regular descaling extends the life of the appliance.

Why does the kettle turn off by itself?

This may be due to limescale buildup causing overheating. The safety switch activates. Let it cool for 10 minutes, then descale the kettle. If the problem persists, contact customer service.

Can I open the lid while the water is heating?

No, never open the lid during operation as hot steam may escape. Wait for the appliance to cool before opening.

Can the kettle operate without the base?

No, the kettle must always be placed on the base to operate. The base provides the electrical connection and rotation. Never use the kettle alone.

How to remove the lid for cleaning?

Turn the lid slightly counterclockwise and lift it. Clean it separately with warm soapy water, then dry. Replace it by turning clockwise.

What to do if water overflows from the kettle?

Never exceed the maximum level. If water overflows, immediately unplug the appliance, let it cool, then wipe carefully. Ensure the lid is properly closed before reuse.

This appliance is for private and indoor use only and must not be used commercially. Please read the instruction manual carefully and keep it at a safe place. When the appliance is given to another person the instruction manual should be passed to that person, too. Only use the appliance as described in the instruction manual and pay attention to the safety information. No liability for damages or accidents will be accepted, which are caused by not paying attention to the instruction manual. Remove all packaging and sticker.

Safety information

Hot surface! There is danger of burning when touching the surface during operation.

• Connect and operate the appliance in accordance with the specifications shown on the rating label.

• Do not use if the plug cord is damaged. Verify before every use.

• Do not plug with wet hands.

• Only use the device for heating up water.

• Connect the power plug to a properly installed and easily accessible socket only.

• To unplug the power plug, always pull the plug – not the cable.

Plug off the appliance after each use or in case of failure.

• Do not pull at the cord. Don't pull it over edges and don't bend it too much.

• Keep the cord away from hot parts.

The appliance can be used by children aged 8 and above and persons with limited physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience/knowledge, provided that are supervised or have been provided with instruction in the safe use of the appliance and have understood the resulting dangers. Children must not use the packaging as a toy. Cleaning and user maintenance must not be carried out by children unless they are 8 years or older and are supervised.

• Children under the age of 8 must be kept away from the appliance and the connecting cable.

• The device gets hot, only transport if it cooled down. Do not change its place during operation.

• Only use the device as described in this manual.

• This appliance is intended to be used in household and similar applications such as:

o staff kitchen areas in shops, offices and others working environments
o by clients in hotels, motels and other residential type environments
o bed and breakfast type environments.

• Before initial use: clean all parts carefully and leave to dry. Heat up the device with water 2 - 3 times to eliminate the smell of newness.

Attention! Device gets hot. Danger of burns! During operation, steam escapes the devices.

• If an extension cable is used, it has to have a cross-section of 1,5mm^2

• If a GS-tested 16 A multi-pin extension is used, it may not be charged with more than 3680 watts due to fire hazard.

• Make sure that children do not tease the cable or that a trip hazard occurs.
• The device must always be disconnected from the power supply if it is not supervised and before assembling, disassembling or cleaning.
• Do not use the device for cooking on a cooktop.

Cleaning

Attention! Pull the plug before cleaning and allow the device to cool down.

• Never immerse the unit into water.
• Do not use abrasives, oven spray or solvents.
• Clean the housing with a damp cloth with detergent and dry. Occasionally rinse with clean water.
• Superficial stains on the heating plate can be removed with stainless steel cleaner.
  Depending on the hardness of water, the device needs to be scaled regularly. To do this, fill the kettle with water and descaler or vinegar. Heat the mixture and then rinse the device with fresh water,

Workplace

Important:

Never place this device on or next to hot surfaces (e.g. hot stoves). Only use it on a even, stable and a heat resisting surface. It is important that no inflammable items are near to the device. Do not place the device on the edge of the table so that it cannot be touched by children or fall down when touched.

Unwind the cable from the cable storage und plug it in.

• Open the lid with a slight anti-clockwise twist and remove it, fill the device with water and close the lid.

Do not fill the above the maximum marking on the water gauge because hot water can escape.

• Place the container onto the base, the device beeps 2 times and 100^ C flashes.
  Press the ON/OFF button.
• The device starts with the 100^ mode and starts heating. During the heating process, the current temperature is shown on the display. Once the temperature is reached, the device beeps twice and turns into standby mode.
  Setting the temperature:

o Choose the desired temperature 40, 50, 60, 70, 80, 90^ with the selection button.
o Press the ON/OFF button, the device starts heating.
o Once the temperature is reached the device beeps twice and turn into standy mode.
