How to connect the LPD8 MKII to my computer?

Connect the controller to your computer using the provided USB cable. It is powered via USB and automatically recognized as a MIDI device without additional drivers.

Pads not responding, what to do?

Check that Note mode is enabled (Note button lit). Make sure your MIDI software is properly configured to receive messages from the LPD8 MKII. You can also reset the device by unplugging and replugging the USB cable.

How to change the pad colors?

Use the editor software downloadable from akaipro.com. Connect the LPD8 MKII to the computer, open the editor, select a pad and choose an RGB color. Changes are saved in internal memory.

Can I save multiple configurations?

Yes, the LPD8 MKII can store up to 4 programs in internal memory. To switch between them, hold the Program button and press one of pads 1 to 4.

What is the function of knobs K1 to K8?

These rotary knobs send MIDI continuous control (CC) messages. Each knob can be assigned to a parameter (volume, effect, etc.) via the editor software.

How to use CC mode for the pads?

Press the CC button on the LPD8 MKII. The pads will then send MIDI control change messages instead of notes. Assignments are made in the editor software.

Is the LPD8 MKII compatible with mobile devices?

It can be used with a USB OTG adapter on Android or iOS devices that support MIDI peripherals. Check your music app's compatibility.

What to do if the editor software does not detect the controller?

Make sure the LPD8 MKII is connected and powered (LED on). Try another USB port or cable. Reinstall the editor from akaipro.com. Restart the computer if necessary.

How to clean the pads and casing?

Use a soft dry cloth, slightly damp if necessary. Avoid abrasive products or alcohol that might damage the finish. Do not spray liquid directly on the device.

Features

1. USB Port: Use a standard USB cable to connect this USB port to your computer to power LDP8 and send and receive MIDI data to and from your computer.
2. Pads (1-8): Press these pads to send MIDI Note On messages to your software, triggering drum hits or other samples. The pads are velocity- and pressure-sensitive, which makes them very responsive and intuitive to play.
3. Knobs (K1-8): Turn these knobs to send continuous control data to your software, adjusting parameter values or other settings.
4. Program: Press and hold this button and then press any one of Pads 1-4 to recall the preset of the same number (its LED will light). Release this button to use the pads again as normal.

Each of these buttons determines the kind of MIDI message the LPD8 mk2's pads will send.

1. Note: When this button is active, the LPD8 mk2's pads will send MIDI Note messages. These messages, as well as the pads' RGB colors, are customizable in the included software editor.
2. Prog Chng (Program Change): When this button is active, the LPD8 mk2's pads will send Program Change messages. These messages are assignable in the included software editor.
3. CC: When this button is active, the LPD8 mk2's pads will send out MIDI Control Change messages. These messages are assignable in the included software editor.

Operation

Programs

You can store up to 4 programs in LPD8 mk2's internal memory. Each program includes:

• all pad assignments (MIDI note numbers, CC numbers, program change numbers, press behavior, and pad on/off colors)
• all knob assignments (MIDI CC numbers and range)

To select a program, press and hold Program, and press one of Pads 1-4 (Prog 1-4).
