How to install the U338CFSATA5G reader?

Simply plug the built-in USB-A or USB-C connector into an available port on your computer. Insert a CFast card into the designated slot and/or a 2.5-inch SATA drive into the SATA port. No drivers are required: the device is automatically recognized.

What types of memory cards are compatible?

The reader supports CFast 2.0 cards and is backward compatible with CFast 1.0 cards.

Can I use the CFast card and SATA drive at the same time?

Yes, you can use both ports simultaneously. A blue LED indicates detection of the CFast card, a red LED indicates detection of the SATA drive, and both light up if both devices are connected.

What is the maximum transfer speed?

The USB 3.1 Gen 1 interface offers data transfer speeds up to 5 Gbps. To achieve this speed, your computer must have a USB 3.1 Gen 1 (USB 3.0) port.

My SATA drive is not recognized, what should I do?

Check that the drive is inserted correctly (slight angle to avoid stress). If the drive is not formatted, use your system's Disk Management utility to format it. Also ensure the drive is powered via the USB port.

How to safely eject the device?

Before disconnecting the adapter, always eject the device from your operating system (safely remove hardware icon). This prevents data loss.

Does this reader work with a SATA SSD?

Yes, it is compatible with SATA SSDs of 2.5 inches, as well as mechanical hard drives (HDDs) of the same form factor, tested up to 2 TB.

Does the device require external power?

No, the device is USB bus-powered. No additional power source is required.

What should I do if the LED does not light up?

Make sure the USB cable is connected to a working port. Try a different USB port or another computer. If the problem persists, contact Tripp Lite support for possible warranty repair.

Installation

Notes:

• Hard drives are sensitive to static electricity and must be handled properly to prevent data loss. Always handle your hard drive with caution: wear an anti-static strap, such as the Tripp Lite P999-000, when transporting it, or touch a grounded metal surface to discharge yourself of static electricity before picking up the drive.
• If your SATA hard drive has not been formatted, you will first need to format it using your computer's Disk Management utility.

• Before unplugging the adapter, make sure to properly eject the drive from your computer to avoid any potential data loss.

• Connect the built-in USB-A or USB-C plug on the device to the USB-A or USB-C port on your laptop, tablet or computer.

• Insert a CFast Memory Card into the appropriate port on the device.
• Insert a SATA drive into the appropriate port on the device. Take care to keep the drive at a low angle to minimize stress on the connector.

Installation

1. Your device is ready for use. Please note, when individually connected, a blue LED will illuminate when the CFast card is recognized, while a red LED will illuminate when the SATA drive is recognized. Both blue and red LEDs will illuminate when parts are used simultaneously.

TRIPP LITE warrants its products to be free from defects in materials and workmanship for a period of three (3) years from the date of initial purchase. TRIPP LITE's obligation under this warranty is limited to repairing or replacing (at its sole option) any such defective products. To obtain service under this warranty, you must obtain a Returned Material Authorization (RMA) number from TRIPP LITE or an authorized TRIPP LITE service center. Products must be returned to TRIPP LITE or an authorized TRIPP LITE service center with transportation charges prepaid and must be accompanied by a brief description of the problem encountered and proof of date and place of purchase. This warranty does not apply to equipment which has been damaged by accident, negligence or misapplication or has been altered or modified in any way.
