Frequently Asked Questions - Complete C2 Parquet XL MIELE

How do I replace the dust bag of my Miele Complete C2 Parquet XL vacuum cleaner?
Open the lid by pressing the release button. The hygiene closure automatically closes to prevent dust emissions. Hold the bag by the handle and remove it. Insert a new Miele original bag (type GN) until it clicks. Close the lid.
How do I know if the dust bag is full?
The bag change indicator turns completely red when the bag is full. Check by plugging in the vacuum, setting the power to maximum, and lifting the brush off the floor.
What should I do if my vacuum cleaner suddenly stops during use?
This is due to a temperature limiter that stops the vacuum in case of overheating. Possible causes: full bag, dirty filter, object blocking the hose. Turn off and unplug the appliance, eliminate the cause, wait 20-30 minutes before restarting.
How do I replace the motor protection filter?
Open the dust compartment, remove the bag. Open the filter grille, remove the old motor filter by grasping it by the clean hygiene surface. Insert a new filter, close the grille, and replace the bag.
How do I replace the exhaust filter?
Depending on the filter type (AirClean, AirClean Plus, Active AirClean, HEPA), open the dust compartment. For AirClean, remove the filter by the square hygiene corner. For others, lift it directly. Insert the new filter. If it is an Active AirClean or HEPA filter, activate the Timestrip indicator by pressing it for 10-15 seconds until a red band appears.
How do I activate the Timestrip saturation indicator?
After inserting an Active AirClean 50 or HEPA AirClean 50 exhaust filter, press the Timestrip indicator until a red band appears on the left (approximately 10-15 seconds). This indicates the start of the 50-hour usage countdown.
How do I adjust the suction power?
Turn the rotary selector to the desired position. The symbols indicate applications: curtains, furniture, carpets, hard floors, etc. To reduce the pushing force on hard floors, reduce the power.
How do I clean the vacuum cleaner and its accessories?
Unplug the appliance. Clean the vacuum and plastic accessories with a standard plastic cleaner. Never use abrasive or greasy products. The dust compartment can be vacuumed with another vacuum or cleaned with a dry cloth.
What optional accessories are available?
You can order additional brushes (TurboTeQ turbo brush, Hardfloor brush, Parquet Twister), nozzles (mini turbo brush, extra long flat nozzle), a comfort handle with light, and replacement filters (AirClean Plus, Active AirClean, HEPA). Check the Miele online store.
How do I store the vacuum after use?
Unplug the cord. Rewind the cable by pressing the pedal. Attach the tube and brush to the vacuum using the attachment system. To save space, you can separate the EasyLock tubes.

Technical safety

Before using the vacuum cleaner and its accessories, check for any visible signs of damage. Do not use a damaged appliance.
- Compare the connection data on the data plate of the vacuum cleaner (mains voltage and frequency) with that of the mains electricity supply. This data must match exactly. Without modifications, the vacuum cleaner is suitable for 50Hz or 60Hz .
The mains electrical plug must be fitted with an appropriate fuse.
Reliable and safe operation of this vacuum cleaner can only be assured if it has been connected to the mains electricity supply.
While the vacuum cleaner is under warranty, repairs should only be undertaken by a Miele authorised service technician. Otherwise the warranty will be invalidated.
- Do not use the vacuum cleaner if the cable is damaged. If the cable is damaged it must be replaced together with a complete cable rewind. For safety reasons this must only be done by Miele Service or a Miele authorised service technician.

Disposing of the dustbag and filters

Dustbags and filters are made from environmentally friendly materials, and can be disposed of with the normal household waste, as long as they have been used exclusively for general household dust.

Disposing of your old appliance

Before disposing of your old appliance, remove the dustbag and filters and dispose of them with your household waste.

Electrical and electronic appliances contain many valuable materials. They also contain certain materials, compounds and components which were essential for their correct functioning and safety. These could be hazardous to human health and to the environment if disposed of with household waste or if handled incorrectly. Please do not, therefore, dispose of your old appliance with household waste.

MIELE Complete C2 Parquet XL - Disposing of your old appliance - 1

Instead, please make use of officially designated collection and disposal points to dispose of and recycle electrical and electronic appliances in your local community, with your dealer or with Miele, free of charge. By law, you are solely responsible for deleting any personal data from the old appliance prior to disposal. You are legally obliged to remove any old batteries which are not securely enclosed by the appliance and to remove any lamps without destroying them, where this is possible. These must be taken to a suitable collection point where they can be handed in free of charge. Please ensure that your old appliance poses no risk to children while being stored for disposal.

Notes on the European Regulation (EU) No. 666/2013

This vacuum cleaner is a domestic vacuum cleaner and is classified as a universal vacuum cleaner in accordance with the above-mentioned regulation.

These operating instructions and additional information are available to download from the Miele website at www.miele.com.

The annual energy consumption stated in the regulation describes the indicative annual energy consumption (kWh per year), based on 50 cleaning cycles. Actual energy consumption depends on how the vacuum cleaner is used.

All tests and calculations were carried out according to the following harmonised standards applicable at the time in due consideration of the published regulation guidelines of the European Commission from September 2014: a) EN 60312-1 Vacuum cleaners for household use - Part 1: Dry vacuum cleaners - Methods for measuring the performance.
b) EN 60704-2-1 Household and similar electrical appliances - Test code for the determination of airborne acoustical noise - Part 2-1: Particular requirements for vacuum cleaners.
c) EN 60335-2-2 Household and similar electrical appliances - Safety - Part 2-2: Particular requirements for vacuum cleaner and water suction appliances.

Not all floorheads and accessories supplied with the vacuum cleaner are intended for intensive cleaning of carpets or

hard floors as described in the regulation. The following floorhead and setting were used to determine the values:

For energy consumption and cleaning class on carpet and hard floors and sound power level on carpet, the adjustable floorhead was used with the brush retracted (press the foot-switch).

The data given in the regulation refers exclusively to the combinations and settings of the floorhead on the different floor surfaces described here.

Only original Miele dustbags, motor protection filters and exhaust filters were used for all measurements.

Slot the floorhead downwards into the parking attachment.

If your vacuum cleaner has an EasyLock suction tube, you can detach this so that the vacuum cleaner requires less storage space.

Press the release catch on the lower suction tube section and pull the top section out.
- Push the connection piece attached to the upper suction tube into the lower suction tube.

Maintenance

Risk of electric shock from mains voltage.

The mains voltage is applied to the appliance even if it is switched off.

Before carrying out any maintenance work, switch the appliance off at the wall socket and unplug it.

The Miele filtration system consists of 3 accessories:

  • Original Miele dustbag (type GN)

  • Motor protection filter

  • Original Miele exhaust filter

These accessories will need to be replaced from time to time to ensure that your vacuum cleaner performs efficiently.

We recommend using only genuine Miele accessories bearing the "ORIGINAL Miele" logo on the packaging. Only these will guarantee the optimum performance of your vacuum cleaner and the best possible cleaning results.

Dustbags with the "ORIGINAL Miele" logo on the packaging are not made from paper or paper-based materials and nor do they have a cardboard collar. This is why Miele dustbags are particularly long-lasting and reliable.

Please note that faults and damage caused by use of accessories which do not bear the "ORIGINAL Miele" logo on the packaging are not covered by the vacuum cleaner warranty.

Purchasing dustbags and filters

Original Miele dustbags and filters are available from the Miele webshop, the Miele Spare Parts Department and your Miele dealer.

Original Miele dustbags and filters are identified by the "ORIGINAL Miele" logo on the packaging.

MIELE Complete C2 Parquet XL - Purchasing dustbags and filters - 1

Every packet of original Miele dustbags contains 4 dustbags, one AirClean exhaust filter and one motor protection filter. Original Miele multipacks contain 16 dustbags, 4 AirClean exhaust filters and 4 motor protection filters (available depending on country).

Original Miele exhaust filters can also be purchased separately from the Miele Customer Service Department or your Miele dealer. Please quote the model number of your vacuum cleaner when ordering to make sure you get the correct filter. You can also order these filters via the Miele webshop.

Dustbag airflow indicator (Fig. 29)

Change the dustbag when the airflow indicator turns red, or sooner if it is no longer effective (see possible reasons for this below).

  • Blocked pores reduce the suction power of the vacuum cleaner.
  • Dispose of the dustbag when it is full.
  • Do not attempt to re-use the dustbag.

To check the airflow indicator

  • Attach the standard adjustable floorhead to the vacuum cleaner.
  • Switch the vacuum cleaner on and select the highest power setting.
Lift the floorhead off the floor a little.

How the airflow indicator works

The airflow indicator is set for normal household dust. This generally contains a mixture of dust, hair, threads, carpet fluff, grit etc.

However, if the cleaner has been used to vacuum up fine dust, such as plaster, brick dust, cement or flour, the pores of the dustbag will become blocked very quickly.

This affects the air permeability of the bag, and the marker will indicate that the bag is "full" even when it is not. The dustbag must be replaced if this is the case.

If, on the other hand, a large amount of hair and carpet fluff which typically contains a lot of air is vacuumed up, the indicator may fail to react even though the bag is full. You should still change it. Both these extremes can occur.

Removing the dustbag (Fig. 30)

Press the release catches at the side of the hose connector and pull the hose out of the suction opening.
- Lift the release catch for the dust compartment lid and raise the lid as far as it will go.

The dustbag has a flap which closes automatically when the dust compartment lid is raised to prevent any dust escaping.

Pull the dustbag out by the grip on the collar.

Fitting a dustbag (Fig. 31)

Fit the new dustbag into the holder until it clicks into position. Leave the dustbag folded up when you take it out of the box.
- Close the dust compartment lid securely, making sure it clicks into position. Take care not to trap the dust-bag when doing so.

A safety device prevents the lid closing without a dustbag in place. Do not force it.

Insert the hose connector into the suction opening on the vacuum cleaner until it clicks into position. To do this, line up the guides on the two pieces (Fig. 01).

Replacing the motor protection filter (Fig. 32)

Replace the motor protection filter whenever you start a new packet of dustbags.

Every packet of original Miele dustbags contains a motor protection filter. Multipacks contain 4 motor protection filters.

  • Open the dust compartment lid.
Pull the dustbag out by the grip on the collar.
  • Lift up the filter frame until it clicks and remove the old filter. Hold by the clean, unsoiled section to remove it.
Replace with a new motor protection filter.
    Close the filter frame.
Fit the dustbag into the holder as far as it will go.
  • Close the dust compartment lid securely, making sure it clicks into position. Take care not to trap the dust-bag when doing so.

When to replace the exhaust filter

Depending on the model, your vacuum cleaner will be fitted as standard with one of the following exhaust filters (Fig. 09):

a AirClean

Replace this filter every time you start a new packet of Miele dustbags. Every packet of original Miele dustbags contains one AirClean exhaust filter. Multipacks contain four AirClean filters.

b AirClean Plus 50 (light blue)

Replace this filter after approx. one year. Make a note of the date on the exhaust filter.

c Active AirClean 50 (black)

d HEPA AirClean 50 (white)

Replace this filter when the timestrip® filter change indicator is completely red (Fig. 14). The indicator lights up after approximately 50 hours of operation, which is equivalent to about a year of average use. You can continue vacuuming when the light comes on. However, the suction power will be reduced as will the effectiveness of the filter if it is not replaced in good time.

Replacing the AirClean exhaust filter (Fig. 33 + 34)

Do not use more than one exhaust filter at a time.

  • Open the dust compartment lid.
    Open the filter grille.
  • Grasp the used AirClean exhaust filter by the clean, unsoiled section and take it out.
Replace it with a new AirClean exhaust filter.

If you wish to fit an AirClean Plus 50, Active AirClean 50 or HEPA AirClean 50 exhaust filter, see "Replacing one type of exhaust filter with another".

Close the filter grille.
Close the dust compartment lid.

Replacing the AirClean Plus 50, Active AirClean 50 and HEPA AirClean 50 exhaust filters (Fig.35 + 36)

Do not use more than one exhaust filter at a time.

Open the dust compartment lid.
Lift the exhaust filter and remove it.
Insert a new exhaust filter, making sure it goes in properly, then press it down into position.
If you are using exhaust filter c or d, press the tstrip® filter change indicator (Fig. 12).

After approx. 10-15 seconds, a thin red line will appear in the left-hand side of the display (Fig. 13).

If you wish to fit an AirClean exhaust filter, see "Replacing one type of exhaust filter with another".

Close the dust compartment lid.

Replacing one type of exhaust filter with another (Fig. 09)

Depending on the model, your vacuum cleaner will be fitted as standard with one of the following exhaust filters:

a AirClean

b AirClean Plus 50 (light blue)
c Active AirClean 50 (black)
d HEPA AirClean 50 (white)

Do not use more than one exhaust filter at a time.

When changing the filter, please note

  1. If you wish to replace exhaust filter a with filter b, c or d, it is essential that you remove the filter grille before you fit the new exhaust filter.
If you are using exhaust filter c or d, you must also activate the timestrip® filter change indicator (Fig. 12).
  2. If you wish to replace exhaust filter b, c or d with filter a it is essential that filter a is fitted in the filter grille* (Fig. 34).
  3. Filter grille - see "Optional accessories"

Replacing the thread lifters (Fig. 37 + 38)

(not possible on EcoTeQ Plus floorheads)

The thread lifters on the suction inlet to the floorhead can be replaced. Replace the thread lifters if the pile has worn down.

Lever the thread lifters from the slots. To do so use a suitable tool, e.g. a flat blade screwdriver.
Fit new thread lifters.

Replacement parts are available from your Miele dealer or from the Miele Spare Parts Dept.

Problem solving guide

Many malfunctions and faults that can occur in daily operation can be easily remedied. You can save time and money in many cases, as you do not need to call the Miele Customer Service Department.

Information to help you rectify faults yourself can be found at www.miele.com/service.

The following tables are designed to help you to find the cause of a malfunction or a fault and to resolve it.

Problem Cause and remedy
The vacuum cleaner switches off automatically.A temperature limiter switches the vacuum cleaner off automatically if it gets too hot. This can occur if, for instance, large articles block the suction tube or when the dustbag is full or contains particles of fine dust. A heavily soiled exhaust or dust compartment filter can also be the cause of overheating. ■ Switch the vacuum cleaner off immediately using the On/Off foot control ①. Switch off at the wall socket and unplug it. After removing the cause, wait for approximately 20 - 30 minutes to allow the vacuum cleaner to cool down. It can then be switched on again.
