USER MANUAL WK 3564 CLATRONIC
- The appliance is designed exclusively for private use and for the envisaged purpose. This appliance is not t for com- mercial use.
- Do not use it outdoors. Keep it away from sources of heat, direct sunlight, humidity (never dip it into any liquid) and sharp edges. Do not use the appliance with wet hands. If the appliance is humid or wet, unplug it immediately.
- When cleaning or putting it away, switch off the appliance and always pull out the plug from the socket (pull the plug itself, not the lead) if the appliance is not being used and remove the attached accessories.
- Do not operate the machine without supervision. If you leave the room you should always turn the device off. Remove the plug from the socket.
- The device and the mains lead have to be checked regu- larly for signs of damage. If damage is found the device must not be used.
- Use only original spare parts.
- In order to ensure your children’s safety, please keep all packaging (plastic bags, boxes, polystyrene etc.) out of their reach. WARNING! Do not allow small children to play with the foil. WARNING: Risk of burns!
During operation and afterwards, the temperature of the accessible surfaces will be very high.
- Always hold the appliance by the handle.
- Always open and close the lid with the handle on the lid.
- Do not exceed the MAX mark when lling, otherwise the water may boil over and cause burns!
- Always ensure that the lid is tightly closed.
- Do not open the lid when the water is boiling.
- The water level must be between the MAX and MIN marks.
- Use the appliance only on a level work surface.29
- Do not move the device and do not touch it when it is working.
- Only use the kettle with the accompanying base.
- Switch the machine off before removing it from the base!
- The base and exterior of the machine must not become wet.
- This appliance can be used by children aged from 8 years and above if they have been given supervision or instruction concerning the safe use of the appliance understand the hazards involved.
- Cleaning and maintenance by the user shall not be made by children unless they are older 8 years and supervised.
- Keep the appliance and its cord out of reach of children less than 8 years.
- Children shall not play with the appliance.
- Appliances can be used by persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge if they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance in a safe way and if they understand the hazards in- volved.
- Do not try to repair the appliance on your own. Always contact an authorized technician. To avoid the exposure to danger, always have a faulty cable be replaced only by the manufacturer, by our customer service or by a qualied person and with a cable of the same type.
- This appliance is used for heating and boiling water. Never use to heat up other uids or foodstuffs.
- Only use the appliance in a dry, indoor area. It is intended for do- mestic use and similar areas of use such as e.g.: - In staff kitchens in shops, ofces and other commercial areas; - By guests in hotels, motels and other accommodation facilities. It is not intended for use in farm accommodation or Bed & Breakfast establishments.30 Instructions Preparation Before using for the rst time, boil fresh water at least three times in the appliance. Use only water without any additives or ingredients. Mains Lead Completely unwind the length of mains lead that you require from the bottom section of the base. Please ensure that the mains lead does not become tangled up. Electrical connection Check whether the electrical voltage that you intend to use is the same as that of the machine. Details are to be found on the label on the base. Connected Wattage The total power consumption of this device can be up to 1800 W. With this connected load a separate supply line protected by a 16 A household circuit breaker is recommended. CAUTION: Overload!
- If you use extension leads, these should have a cable cross-section of at least 1.5 mm².
- Do not use any multiple sockets, as this device is too powerful. Use NOTE:
- Ensure that the lter is correctly inserted in the spout opening.
- Always use fresh water.

lamp will light up. Pausing/ terminating operation There are two options to interrupt the boiling process or to terminate it:
- The appliance will shut off automatically after the boiling process. The indicator lamp will go out.
- Press the switch upwards to interrupt the boiling process, respectively to terminate it.
Always shut off the appliance before removing it from the base! Also ensure that it is turned off when you set it back onto the base!

- When pouring the water out, keep the lid closed.
- During operation the housing becomes hot. Do not touch it and allow the device to cool down before storing it away.
- Disconnect the power cord.
- Emptying the water container. MainsCableTake-upDevice The mains cable can be wound up on the base. CAUTION: Do not immerse the device into water for cleaning. Please follow the instructions as stipulated in the chapter “Cleaning”. Cleaning
- Always turn the device off before cleaning it and remove the mains plug. Wait until the device has cooled down.
- Never immerse the device or the base in water or other liquids.31 CAUTION:
- Do not use any wire brush or other abrasive objects.
- Do not use any acidic or abrasive detergents.
- Rinse the water container out with clean water. Then dry it off with a cloth.
- Clean the housing after use with a slightly damp cloth. Filter A permanent lter is located at the spout opening. To clean the lter, remove it from the kettle.
- Press it into the inside of the kettle with your thumb. Remove the lter.
- Rinse the lter out under running water. Clean it with a nylon brush if it is necessary.
- Re-insert the lter. Pay attention to the guides. The lter must click audibly into place. Decalcication
- The frequency of the decalcifying operation depends on the hardness of the water and on how often the appliance is used.
- If the machine switches off before the water boils, it prob- ably needs to be decalcied.
- Please do not use vinegar but a commercially available decalcication agent on the basis of citric acid. Only use the quantities stated in the instructions. NOTE: After descaling the device boil fresh water in it several times (approximately 3-4 times) in order to remove any residues. Do not consume this water. Troubleshooting
- Itisnotpossibletoswitchthemachineon. Possible Cause: The appliance has no power supply. Remedy: - Check the socket with another appliance. - Plug in the mains plug correctly. - Check the main circuit breaker. Possible Cause: The appliance is faulty. Remedy: Contact our service center or a specialist. Possible Cause: After being used without or with too little water the machine has not cooled down sufciently. Remedy: Allow the machine to cool down for 15 min.

- The machine does not switch off. Possible Cause: The lid is not closed or the lter has not been inserted. Remedy: Close the lid until it locks into place, and/or reinsert the lter.
