The DVD drive is not recognized by my computer, what should I do?

Check that the USB cable is properly connected and that the USB port works. Try another port. On some PCs, a driver may be required. Visit the Gembird website for updates.

Can I use this drive to watch video DVDs on a TV?

No, this drive is designed to be connected to a computer via USB. It does not have an HDMI or direct video output for a TV.

The drive cannot read some DVDs, why?

Make sure the disc is not scratched or dirty. Clean it with a soft cloth. Also check that the DVD format is supported (DVD-R, DVD+R, etc.). Some DVDs protected by regional coding may not be read if the region code does not match.

How do I clean the drive?

Use a soft, dry cloth to wipe the exterior. For lens cleaning, use a special cleaning disc for optical drives. Avoid liquids.

What is the power consumption of the drive?

The drive is powered via the USB port and consumes about 5 V / 1 A (5 W) under normal operation. It can be used directly on a standard USB port.

Can I burn data to a DVD with this drive?

Yes, this drive supports burning DVDs and CDs. Use burning software like Windows Disc Image Burner or third-party software. Make sure to use compatible discs (DVD-R, DVD+R, etc.).

Does the drive get hot during use?

Slight heat is normal during playback or burning. If the temperature becomes too high, stop use and let it cool. Do not block the ventilation openings.

Where to find drivers for macOS?

On macOS, the drive is usually recognized automatically without additional drivers. If necessary, download drivers from the Gembird website in the support section.

How to change the region code of the drive?

Under Windows, the region code can be changed via Device Manager in the DVD drive properties. Note that the number of changes is limited (usually 5). Choose the code corresponding to your region.

What to do if the drive makes an abnormal noise?

Stop using it immediately. Check if a foreign object is stuck or if the disc is damaged. If the noise persists, contact Gembird after-sales service.

The receipt must clearly list the date of purchase and the part number, in addition it should be printed. Keep the receipt for the entire warranty period since it is required for all warranty claims. During the warranty period the defective items will be credited, repaired or replaced at the manufacturer's expense. Work carried out under the warranty neither extends the warranty period nor starts a new warranty period. The manufacturer reserves the right to void any warranty claim for damages or defects due to misuse, abuse or external impact (falling down, impact, ingress of water, dust, contamination or break). Wearing parts (e.g. rechargeable batteries) are excluded from the warranty. Upon receipt of the RMA goods, Gembird Europe B.V. reserves the right to choose between replacement of defective goods or issuing a credit note.
