Frequently Asked Questions - 160 Vornado

How to clean the grille of the Vornado 160 fan?
First unplug the device. Remove the 4 screws on the back of the inlet grille (positions 2 o'clock, 5 o'clock, 7 o'clock, and 10 o'clock). Clean the grille with a damp cloth or mild detergent. Do not put in dishwasher. Use a vacuum with brush for air inlets.
How to replace the fuse of the Vornado 160?
Turn off and unplug the fan. Open the fuse cover in the plug with a small screwdriver. Carefully remove the fuse (2.5 A, 125 V) and insert the new one. Close the cover. If the fuse blows again, contact customer service.
The fan does not turn on, what to do?
Check that the cord is plugged in and the outlet works. Make sure you have selected a speed. If the fuse has blown, replace it. If the problem persists, stop use and contact Vornado.
The airflow is weak, how to improve it?
Increase the fan speed. Check that nothing is blocking the air inlet or outlet. Direct the airflow toward you. Clean the grille if it is dirty.
Can I use the Vornado 160 with a speed controller?
No, do not use this fan with a dimmer (solid-state speed controller). This could overload the circuit and damage the appliance. Use only the built-in speeds.
Why does the GFCI trip?
In some cases, changing speed may trip a GFCI. Plug the fan into an outlet not protected by GFCI. If the problem persists, the GFCI outlet may be defective; have it checked by an electrician.
The fan makes noise, is that normal?
A slight ventilation noise is normal. If the noise is abnormal (squeaking, clicking), check that the blade is not loose and that nothing is blocking the grille. If the noise persists, contact customer service.
How to remove the blade for cleaning?
Unplug the fan. Remove the shaft nut by turning clockwise (to loosen), then the washer. Pull the blade. Clean it with a damp cloth. Replace the blade by aligning the flat side of the shaft with the blade housing.
Where to find the model and serial number?
The model number (160) and serial number are on the rating label on the back or bottom of the fan. Note them before contacting customer service.
What is the warranty of the Vornado 160?
The warranty is 5 years against defects in material and workmanship. For any claim, contact Vornado at 800-234-0604 or email help@vornado.com. Keep the proof of purchase.
