IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

When using an electrical appliance, basic precautions should always be followed, including the following:

READ ALL INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE USING THIS APPLIANCE. WARNING: TO REDUCE THE RISK OF FIRE, ELECTRIC SHOCK OR INJURY:

• Do not use the unit, store, or charge battery outdoors or on wet surfaces. Do not allow to get wet.
• Do not allow to be used as a toy. Not intended for use by children age 12 and under. Close supervision is necessary when used by or near children. To avoid injury or damage, keep children away from product, and do not allow children to place fingers or other objects into any openings.
• Use only as described in this manual. Use only manufacturer's recommended attachments.
• Do not use charger with damaged cord or plug. If appliance or charger is not working as it should, has been dropped, damaged, left outdoors, or dropped into water, take it to a service center prior to continuing use.
• Do not pull or carry charger by cord, use cord as handle, close a door on cord, or pull cord around sharp edges or corners. Do not place product on cord. Do not run appliance over cord. Keep cord away from heated surfaces.
• Do not unplug charger by pulling on cord. To unplug charger, grasp the charger, not the cord.
• Do not handle charger, including charger plug, and charger terminals with wet hands.
• Do not put any objects into openings. Do not use with any opening blocked; keep free of dust, lint, hair, and anything that may reduce air flow.
• Keep hair, loose clothing, fingers, and all parts of body away from openings and moving parts.
• Use extra care when cleaning on stairs. Do not place cleaner on stairs or furniture, as it may result in injury or damage.
• Do not use to pick up flammable or combustible liquids, such as gasoline, or use in areas where they may be present.
• Turn power switch off before removing or installing powered nozzle.
• Do not pick up anything that is burning or smoking, such as cigarettes, matches, or hot ashes.
• Do not use without filters and/or dirt cup in place.
  WARNING: This product contains chemicals known to the State of California to cause cancer, birth defects or reproductive harm. WASH HANDS AFTER USING.
• Do not incinerate the charger, battery, or appliance even if it is severely damaged. The batteries can explode in a fire.
• This product includes rechargeable lithium-ion batteries. Do not expose batteries to high temperatures, as they may catch fire and/or explode.
• Do not expose battery to crushing, incineration or similar actions.
• Do not dispose of battery in a fire or trash compactor. See battery disposal section for directions.
• Do not attempt to disassemble battery.
• Unplug the charger from the outlet before any routine cleaning or maintenance.
• Leaks from battery cells can occur under extreme conditions. If any liquid gets on the skin wash quickly with soap and water. If any liquid gets into the eyes, immediately flush them with clean water continuously for a minimum of 15 minutes. Seek medical attention immediately.
• Use only the charger supplied by Royal Appliance to recharge.
• Do not attempt to short circuit the battery or charger terminals.

• The charger is for indoor use only. Be sure to always keep the battery and charger in a dry place.

• Put product away after use to prevent tripping accidents.

• CAUTION: Not to be used for grooming a pet.

CAUTION: TO REDUCE THE RISK OF DAMAGE:

• Avoid picking up hard, sharp objects with this product, as they may cause damage.
• Store appropriately indoors in a dry place. Do not expose machine to freezing temperatures.

CAUTION:

chemical burn if mistreated. Do not disassemble, heat above manufacturer's maximum temperature limit (60^ / 140^) , or incinerate. Dispose of battery promptly. Keep away from children. Do not disassemble and do not dispose of in fire. Do not attempt to disassemble the battery or remove any component projecting from the battery terminals. The battery and charger have no user serviceable parts. Fire or injury may result. Prior to disposal, protect exposed terminals with heavy insulating tape to prevent shorting.

LITHIUM-ION BATTERIES

The battery must be collected, recycled or disposed of in an environmentally sound manner. The EPA certified RBRC Battery Recycling Seal on the lithium-ion (Li-ion) battery indicated Techtronic Industries, a corporate affiliate of Dirt Devil., is voluntarily participating in an industry program to collect and recycle these batteries at the end of their useful life, when taken out of service in the United States or Canada. The RBRC program provides a convenient alternative to placing used Li-ion batteries into the trash or the municipal waste stream, which may be illegal in your area. Please visit www.rbrc.org/call2recycle/ for information on Li-ion battery recycling and disposal bans/restrictions in your area. Dirt Devil, involvement in this program is part of our commitment to preserving our environment and conserving our natural resources.

NOTICE

A THERMAL PROTECTOR HAS BEEN DESIGNED INTO YOUR CLEANER TO PROTECT IT FROM OVERHEATING. WHEN THE THERMAL PROTECTOR ACTIVATES THE CLEANER WILL STOP RUNNING.

If this happens proceed as follows:

1. Turn cleaner OFF.
2. Empty dirt cup.
3. Inspect the nozzle opening, dirt cup inlet and filter. Clear obstructions if present.
4. When cleaner is turned off and motor cools for 30 minutes, the thermal protector will deactivate and cleaning may continue.

If the thermal protector continues to activate after following the above steps, your cleaner needs servicing.

QUICK START ASSEMBLY

SNAP THE MAIN BODY TO THE NOZZLE ASSEMBLY. THEN SNAP THE HANDLE INTO THE MAIN BODY.

PLUG IN & CHARGE UNIT UNTIL THE CHARGE INDICATOR LIGHT GOES OUT (CHARGING MAY TAKE UP TO 6 HOURS).

TO TURN UNIT OFF: SLIDE THE POWER SWITCH TO THE OFF POSITION.

NOTE: IF UNIT SHUTS OFF DURING USE
UNEXPECTEDLY PLEASE SWITCH THE UNIT OFF,
CHECK FOR OBSTRACTION OF THE BRUSHROLL &
CLEAR IF OBSTRACTION IS FOUND. THEN SWITCH
THE UNIT ON.

NOTE: USE ONLY THE CHARGER SUPPLIED BY THE MANUFACTURER TO RECHARGE. TIP: FOR A BETTER EXPERIENCE, FULLY CHARGE THE UNIT BEFORE FIRST USE.

POWER SWITCH MUST BE IN THE OFF POSITION.

NOTE: THE UNIT MUST BE OFF FOR THE IT TO CHARGE.

NOTE: IF THE UNIT IS RUNNING AND THE CHARGER PLUG IS CONNECTED TO THE UNIT, THE UNIT WILL SHUT OFF TO PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE CHARGER OR UNIT.

THE INDICATOR WILL PULSE WHEN CHARGING AND TURN OFF WHEN FULLY CHARGED.

NOTE: THE CHARGE INDICATOR WILL ONLY TURN ON WHILE CHARGING. THE CHARGER WILL BE WARM WHILE CHARGING.

NOTE: THE UNIT WILL CHARGE ONLY FOR AS LONG AS NEEDED. IT MAY TAKE UP TO 6 HOURS FOR FULL CHARGE.

HOW TO

USE AS

A HAND VAC

SLIDE RELEASE BUTTON BACK THEN REMOVE HANDLE FROM UNIT.

RELEASE NOZZLE BY PRESSING THE TAB ON THE BACK OF NOZZLE AND PULL UNITS APART.

HOW TO EMPTY DIRT CUP AND REMOVE FILTER

TIP: TO MAINTAIN PERFORMANCE, FILTER SHOULD BE CHANGED EVERY 3-6 MONTHS, OR AS NEEDED.

WHILE HOLDING THE DIRT CUP AND HANDLE, PRESS DIRT CUP RELEASE BUTTON.

NOTE: DO NOT DISCARD FILTER OR FILTER ADAPTER.

REMOVE THE FILTER ASSEMBLY FROM THE DIRT CUP.

REMOVE THE DIRT CUP TO ACCESS FILTER.

PUT THE FILTER ASSEMBLY BACK INTO THE DIRT CUP. PUT THE FILTER BACK INTO THE FILTER HOUSING. PUT THE ASSEMBLY BACK INTO THE DIRT CUP, ALIGN BOTTOM FIRST AND ROTATE UP UNTIL IT Clicks.

NOTE: FILTER IS RINSEABLE WITH WATER. DO NOT USE SOAP/DETERGENT. LET FILTER AIR DRY FOR 24 HOURS OR UNTIL COMPLETELY DRY.

FILTER REMOVAL AND REPLACEMENT

DEPRESS THE DIRT CUP
RELEASE BUTTON WHERE IT SAYS FILTER.

HOLD DIRT CUP OVER A WASTEBASKET. GRASP FILTER AND GENTLY PULL OUT FILTER BASKET.
SHAKE DIRT AND DEBRIS OUT OF DIRT CUP.

CLEAN AND RINSE FILTER

HOLD FILTER UNDER RUNNING WATER TO RINSE. DO NOT USE SOAP/DETERGENT. ALLOW FILTER TO COMPLETELY DRY FOR AT LEAST 24 HOURS BEFORE REPLACING IN DIRT CUP.

PUT FILTER BACK INTO THE FILTER BASKET AND PUT FILTER BASKET BACK INTO DIRT CUP

TO REATTACH DIRT CUP: ALIGN BOTTOM FIRST AND PIVOT DIRT CUP UNTIL IT SNAPS INTO PLACE.

HOW TO ACCESS & STORE CHARGER

GRIP THE CHARGER AT THE TOP NEAR THE RIDGES & PIVOT TOWARDS THE REAR/ BOTTOM OF THE UNIT.

THEN PULL THE CHARGER AWAY FROM THE UNIT & PLUG INTO THE WALL OUTLET TO CHARGE.

TO STORE THE CHARGER, GRIP & SQUEEZE THE ACCESS DOOR & PIVOT AWAY FROM THE UNIT. THEN Bundle THE CORD IN THE UNIT & REPLACE THE ACCESS DOOR.

FINALLY PLACE THE CHARGER IN PLACE INSURING THE BOTTOM OF THE CHARGER ENGAGES ON THE POSTS NEAR THE ACCESS DOOR & THEN PIVOT THE CHARGER IN PLACE.

TROUBLESHOOTING

Any other servicing should be done by an authorized service representative. If appliance is not working as it should, has been dropped, damaged, left outdoors, or dropped into water, take it to a service center prior to continuing use.

WARNING

To reduce the risk of personal injury - Turn off before cleaning or servicing.

Cleaner won't run	1. Battery not charged.	1. Charge battery up to 6 hours. The indicator light will pulse until the battery is fully charged and then will turn off.

	3. If the brushroll is jammed the unit's circuit production will be enabled & the unit will shut off.	3. Make sure unit is switched to Off & remove any obstruction from the brushroll & restart

LIMITED WARRANTY

WHAT THIS WARRANTY COVERS

When used and maintained in normal household use and in accordance with the Owner's Manual, your Dirt Devil® product is warranted against original defects in material and workmanship. During the Warranty Period, We will provide labor and parts, at no cost to you, to correct any such defect in products purchased in the United States, U.S. Military Exchanges and Canada.

If this product is not as warranted, take or send the product to a Dirt Devil® Authorized Warranty Service Dealer along with proof of purchase. WHAT THIS WARRANTY DOES NOT COVER

This Warranty does not cover: use of the product in a commercial operation (such as maid, janitorial and equipment rental services), brushroll, belt, bags, filters, improper maintenance of the product, damage due to misuse, acts of God, nature, vandalism or other acts beyond the control of Royal Appliance Mfg. Co. ("Royal", "we"), owner's acts or omissions, use outside the country in which the product was initially purchased and resales of the product by the original owner. This warranty does not cover pick up, delivery, transportation or house calls.

This warranty does not apply to products purchased outside the United States, including its territories and possessions, outside a U.S. Military Exchange and outside of Canada. This warranty does not cover products purchased from a party that is not an authorized retailer, dealer, or distributor of Royal products.

OTHER IMPORTANT TERMS

This Warranty is not transferable and may not be assigned. This Warranty shall be governed and construed under the laws of the state of Ohio. The Warranty Period will not be extended by any replacement or repair performed under this Warranty. THIS WARRANTY IS THE EXCLUSIVE WARRANTY AND REMEDY PROVIDED BY ROYAL. ALL OTHER WARRANTYES, EXPRESSED OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WARRANTYES OF MERCHANTABILITY OR FITNESS FOR PARTICULAR PURPOSE, ARE DISCLAIMED. IN NO EVENT WILL ROYAL BE LIABLE FOR ANY SPECIAL, INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES OF ANY KIND OR NATURE TO OWNER OR ANY PARTY CLAIMING THROUGH OWNER, WHETHER BASED IN CONTRACT, NEGLIGENCE, TORT OR STRICT PRODUCTS LIABILITY OR ARISING FROM ANY CAUSE WHATSOEVER.
