Frequently Asked Questions - JCG08820S9 JUNO

How to adjust the temperature of my JUNO JCG08820S9 freezer?
Turn the thermostat to a medium position for standard adjustment. Turn to minimum for less cold, to maximum for more cold. The temperature adjusts automatically.
What is the Super function for and how do I activate it?
The Super function accelerates freezing of fresh food and protects already frozen food. Press the Super button to activate it; the Super indicator lights up. It stops automatically after 52 hours or can be turned off manually.
What should I do if the alarm light flashes and an audible alarm sounds?
This indicates a temperature too high inside. Press the Super button to turn off the audible alarm. The alarm light flashes until normal temperature is restored. If the problem persists, check the door closure or contact customer service.
How to defrost the freezer?
Defrost when the frost layer reaches 3 to 5 mm. Beforehand, set the thermostat to the coldest position for 12 hours. Turn off the appliance, remove food and leave the door open. Use a bowl of hot water to speed up the process. Never scrape ice with metal objects.
What to do in case of a prolonged power outage?
If the outage lasts longer than the operating autonomy (20 hours), thawed food must be consumed quickly or cooked before refreezing. Avoid opening the door during outage.
How to clean the inside of the freezer?
Before first use or regularly, clean the interior and accessories with warm soapy water, then dry thoroughly. Never use abrasive cleaners, chlorine or oil. Check and wipe door seals.
Why is the door difficult to open?
This can happen if you try to reopen the door immediately after closing it. Wait a few seconds for the pressure to equalize. If the problem persists, check that the seals are clean and not deformed.
What are the normal operating noises?
A slight gurgling (refrigerant liquid), a humming from the compressor, cracking due to thermal expansion, and a clicking from the thermostat. These noises are normal.
Where to install the freezer for good performance?
Install it in a dry, well-ventilated place, away from direct sunlight and heat sources (radiator, oven). Observe the climate classes indicated on the rating plate (SN, N, ST, T) for ambient temperature.
How to save energy with this freezer?
Open the door only when necessary and do not leave it open too long. Ensure ventilation openings are not blocked. Defrost regularly to avoid thick frost layer. Place the appliance in a room with moderate temperature.

Freezing fresh food

The freezer compartment is suitable for freezing fresh food and storing frozen and deep-frozen food for a long time.

To freeze fresh food activate the Super function at least 24 hours before placing the food to be frozen in the freezer compartment.

Place the fresh food to be frozen in the two bottom compartments.

The maximum amount of food that can be frozen in 24 hours is specified on the rating plate, a label located on the inside of the appliance.

The freezing process lasts 24 hours, during this period do not add other food to be frozen.

When the freezing process is completed, you can restore previously set temperature (see "Super function").

    The Super indicator appears.
The Alarm light blinks until the required temperature has been reached again.
  2. Release the Super switch as soon as the Alarm light is off.

JUNO JCG08820S9 - Storage of frozen food - 2

In the event of accidental defrosting, for example due to a power failure, if the power has been off for longer that the value shown in the technical data chart under "Rising time", the defrosted food must be consumed quickly or cooked immediately and then re-frozen (after cooling).

Thawing

Deep-frozen or frozen food, prior to being used, can be thawed in the refrigerator compartment or at room temperature, depending on the time available for this operation.

Small pieces may even be cooked still frozen, directly from the freezer: in this case, cooking will take longer.

The following sounds are normal during operation:

  • A faint gurgling and bubbling sound from coils sound when refrigerant is pumped.
  • A whirring and pulsating sound from the compressor when refrigerant is pumped.

Hints for energy saving

- Do not open the door frequently or leave it open longer than absolutely necessary.

Hints for freezing

  • Freeze only top quality, fresh and thoroughly cleaned food products.

JUNO JCG08820S9 - Hints for storage of frozen food - 1

This appliance contains hydrocarbons in its cooling unit; maintenance and recharging must therefore only be carried out by authorized technicians.

JUNO JCG08820S9 - Hints for storage of frozen food - 2

The accessories and parts of the appliance are not suitable for washing in a dishwasher.

JUNO JCG08820S9 - Defrosting of the freezer - 2

About 12 hours prior to defrosting, set a lower temperature, in order to build up sufficient chill reserve for the interruption in operation.

A certain amount of frost will always form on the freezer shelves and around the top compartment.

Defrost the freezer when the frost layer reaches a thickness of about 3-5 mm.

  1. Switch off the appliance, or pull out electrical plug from the wall socket.
  2. Remove any stored food, wrap it in several layers of newspaper and put it in a cool place.

JUNO JCG08820S9 - Defrosting of the freezer - 3

WARNING! Do not touch frozen goods with wet hands. Hands can freeze to the goods.

  1. Leave the door open. In order to speed up the defrosting process, place a pot of warm water in the freezer compartment. In addition, remove pieces of ice that break away before defrosting is complete.

  2. When defrosting is completed, dry the interior thoroughly.
