7 Use

7.1 On/Off Switch, automatic, vibrator

Select the mode via switch (2):

0 = Vacuum cleaner off I = Dust extractor on (manual operation; use as industrial dust extractor)

A = Automatic On/Off switch. (Use as dust remover) Dust extractor is turned on and off by a power tool connected to the mains socket (4).

R = Electromagnetic vibrator on. Dust is shaken off the filter. The vibrator switches off automatically after approx. 10 secs.

METABO SHR 2050 M - On/Off Switch, automatic, vibrator - 1

The power socket (4) is designed for connection to a power tool only.

The total maximum permissible current consumption (of dust extractor and connected unit) must not exceed the value I_max (see table, page 2).

Caution! The power tool must be switched off when it is connected. Regardless of the switch position the plug socket is always live when the mains plug is plugged in.

In switch position "0" the plug socket can be used as an extension lead (e.g. for a lighting fitting).

7.2 Selecting the operating mode

Use as industrial dust extractor (IDE):

Set the rotary switch (2) to "I" (manual mode).

Set the rotary switch (1) to a volumetric flow setting of 70 m^3/h .

If the air speed in a tube system 35 mm in diameter falls below the average air speed of 20 m/s, the volumetric flow control display (3) blinks. This indicates that the paper filter bag must be changed or the vibration equipment activated.

Use as dust remover (DR):

The dust remover must be connected to only one dust source.

Set the rotary switch (1) to a volumetric flow setting of 70 m^3/h .

The dust extractor is switched on and off by a power tool which is connected to the plug socket (4). Set switch (2) to A (automatic on/off switch). Connect the switched off tool to the mains socket (4).

If the air speed in a tube system 35 mm in diameter falls below the average air speed of 20 m/s, an acoustic signal sounds. This indicates that the paper filter bag must be changed or the vibration equipment activated.

If the hose is 27 mm in diameter, set the rotary switch (1) to a volumetric flow setting of 40 m^3/h .

If the hose is 19 mm in diameter, set the rotary switch (1) to a volumetric flow setting of 20 m^3/h .

With a tube diameter of 19 mm and unfavourable flow conditions in the suction tube, in certain circumstances the control display (3) flashes and an acoustic signal sounds, although the paper filter bag still does not need to be emptied. In this case, lay out the tube straight and clean it; shorten the tube if necessary.

If it is necessary to set the volumetric flow on the dust extractor to a lower value (40 m ^3 /h or 20 m ^3 /h) because of a dust generator, the suction tube will not be able to carry sufficient quantities of dust. After each operation, the suction tube must be removed from the appliance in order to free it of dust.

The extraction openings on power tools are not standardised. A rubber nozzle (adapter) 6.30 324 (not included in scope of delivery) that can be adapted (shortened) to the relevant power tool has therefore been made available.

7.3 Vacuuming

The dust extractor can be used commercially for demanding jobs in areas such as craft work, installation, building and construction, industry, garages, painting, plastering, carpentry, and wood work. Complies with EN 60335-2-69.

Dry vacuuming

Vacuum using a dry filter, dry appliance and dry accessories only. In a damp state, the dust can stick and become encrusted.

When vacuuming soot, cement, plaster of Paris, flour or similar dust, insert a paper filter bag.

Always use the paper filter bag together with a filter cartridge.

Use the paper filter bag for dry vacuuming only.

Wet vacuuming

METABO SHR 2050 M - Wet vacuuming - 1

Never operate the machine without inserting a filter cassette first (14).

The machine may be destroyed and water may also escape.

Vacuum without a paper filter bag. The filter cartridges are suitable for wet vacuuming.

Before doing any wet vacuuming remove the dry vacuumed material. Doing this will avoid intense soiling and encrustation.

The integrated sensor switches off the motor when the container is full. Empty the appliance. If the appliance is not switched off, the restart protection device remains effective. The appliance is not operable again until after it has been switched off and switched back on again.

After switching off, some water may run back out of the hose.

Before emptying, first of all take the suction hose out of the liquid.

If you are going to subsequently dry vacuum, insert a filter. If there is a frequent changeover between dry and wet vacuuming, we recommend the use of a second (replacement) filter. Allow the filter, container and accessories to dry so that no dust is able to adhere to otherwise damp components.

7.4 Dedusting the filter

The appliance is equipped with an electromagnetic vibrator. Using this, dust which sticks to the filter cassette (14) can be shaken off. This ensures optimized use of the filter cartridges and lengthens the work cycles.

8 Cleaning

Cleaning instructions

The exterior of class M appliances should be cleaned by removing the dust and then wiped clean, or else treated with sealants. Only then, should they be taken from the danger zone. It must be assumed that all appliance parts have become dirty when they are taken from the danger zone. Suitable action must therefore be taken to prevent dust from spreading. When carrying out maintenance and repair jobs, all objects which have become dirty and cannot be cleaned satisfactorily must be disposed of. They must be disposed of in impermeable bags in accordance with the regulations in force for the removal of such waste products.

Clean the water sensor regularly and check it for signs of damage.

Changing the paper filter bag

If the control display (3) blinks during IDE operation, or the acoustic signal sounds during DR operation, this means that the paper filter bag must be emptied.

Caution! The dust contained in this appliance is dangerous to health. The appliance must only be emptied and maintained, and the dust collector removed, by specialists wearing the necessary protective equipment.

To change the paper filter bag, turn off the appliance, pull the plug and open the latching fastener (11). Take the upper part (6) off the container (10). Pull the paper filter bag (12) out from the suction opening (9) towards the back. Close the flange on the paper filter bag by folding down the cover.

Attach a new paper filter bag to the flange. Push it in above the suction spout on the lower side and then above the latching cam on the upper side. Put the upper part on the container again and close the latching fasteners.

9 Servicing

If the suction power decreases, take the following action:

  1. Dedust the filter cassettes by turning on the electromagnetic vibrator.
  2. Empty the container or replace the paper filter bag.
  3. Replace the filter cartridges (14)

Prior to changing the filter, dedust the filter cartridges (14) again. (Electromagnetic vibrator)

Use a coin or a similar object to turn the locking knob (8) on the locking bar (7) counter-clockwise through 90° and push the bar (7) to the rear. Lift the hood up and take out the filter cartridges (14) upwards.

Put new filter cartridges back in, ensuring that the filters are firmly and cleanly seated.

The motor protection filter (13) must be replaced from time to time.

10 Troubleshooting
