USER MANUAL Merida Silit

Frying pans with Silitan / CeraProtect non-stick coating

  • Durable and resistant.
  • Excellent non-stick properties. Robust, durable surface.
  • No sticking of food.
  • The best heat conduction and retention.
  • Saves time and energy.
  • Perfect for low-fat and healthy cooking.
  • 5-year guarantee. Use:
  • Remove all stickers before using for the first time. Rinse the frying pan in hot water and dry it thoroughly. Then add a little cooking oil or cooking fat.
  • Silit frying pans with a non-stick coating are excellently suited to low- fat or fat-free frying and cooking.
  • The use of unsuitable fats or oils that cannot be heated up to high temperatures, e.g. olive oil, or regular washing in the dishwasher can cause the non-stick coating of the frying pan to deteriorate. Care tip: Burnt-on residue may form on the Silitan / CeraProtect coating. In this case, generously wipe the frying pan with vegetable oil (not olive oil) and paper towel. The frying pan can then be used by adding a little fat. Many fats and oils (such as olive oil) are not sufficiently heat-stable when used for cooking and frying. They burn when heated to too high a temperature and can result in encrusted dirt that burns into the non-stick coating and can no longer be removed. If this happens frequently, the frying pan becomes sticky and thus loses it non-stick property. When frying with fat: Always add some fat into the cold empty frying pan! Then heat. Reduce the heat immediately if the grease begins to smoke slightly. Only then place the food in the frying pan. When frying with a little fat, there is no hot fat to indicate the temperature. Therefore, heat the frying pan at a maximum of approxi- mately half heat and then ensure that the pan, coating and food are not overheated. Overheating the frying pan could impair the effect of the non-stick coating. Care: You should not let food residues dry in your frying pan. Simply wipe with a paper towel or clean with hot water and washing-up liquid after use. Please do not use steel wool, aggres- Frying pans – Silitan / CeraProtect.EN

sive liquid cleaners, abrasive agents containing sand or the abrasive sides of sponges. For gentle cleaning, we recommend cleaning by hand as compact dish- washer detergents can damage the aluminium or cast aluminium base of frying pans. It is best to use kitchen gadgets made of wood, synthetic material or silicone when cooking food in the frying pan. Cutting or scratch marks do not affect the frying pan's non- stick coating and are only visual signs of wear and tear that do not justify a complaint. Frying pans with plastic handles should not be used in the oven at temperatures exceeding 70°C. Frying pans with metal handles are for use in the oven. Pan holders should be used for this, however, as the handles can become very hot. Tips for energy-saving cooking Please use the right size of cooking zone that matches the frying pan. • Turn down the heat in good time and use the heat stored by the extra-sturdy energy-saving base.
  • If your Silit cookware does wear out after many years, disposal is also no problem. Your local waste management company or recycling centre will certainly be happy to provide you with information. Attention:
  • Never overheat the frying pan (e.g. without contents), as otherwise the cookware and the cooking zone can become damaged!
  • Also ensure that the liquid of the cooked food never completely evaporates.
  • Be careful with hot fat. Do not leave hot frying pans unattended. Do not extinguish burning fat with water. Use a blanket or a fire extinguisher.
  • Only place the hot cookware on heat-resistant surfaces (never on synthetic material, etc.).
  • Never leave young children unsuper- vised in the vicinity of hot cookware.
  • To protect yourself against hot metal surfaces (special handles), you must use an oven glove or pan holder when using the frying pan on the hob and in the oven.
  • Avoid sliding the cookware back and forth across glass ceramic cook- ing zones, since residue between the base of the frying pan and the glass ceramic hob can scratch the cooking zone. Sliding aluminium frying pans can cause them to wear. The wear must therefore be removed immediately. If the wear is burnt on repeatedly, it will no longer be possible to remove it.
  • Avoid knocking the chrome pour- ing rim heavily with hard, sharp- edged and metal kitchen utensils. This can damage the pouring rim.
  • If the handle of your frying pan has become loose, tighten the screw on the handle using a standard household screwdriver. The frying pan must not be used again until this has been done. Replace handles that are cracked or do not fit correctly. Frying pans – Silitan / CeraProtect.EN

Note for cooking on induction cookers You may hear a humming noise when cooking on an induction cooker. This is due to technical reasons and does not indicate a fault with the cooker or cookware. After cooking, please do not touch the glass-ceramic surface straight away as the cooking zone can get hot due to heat being recovered by the cookware base. Temperature specifications for use in the oven The maximum temperature resistance depends on the parts with the lowest temperature resistance (handle, lid or pot). Never use the oven's grill function with glass lids.
