Important Safety Information READ AND FOLLOW ALL SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
When using electrical appliances, basic safety precautions should always be followed to reduce the risk of fire, electric shock and personal injury.
- Read all instructions.
- Do not touch hot surfaces or hot water. Use handles only as care must be taken since burns can occur from touching hot parts or from spilled hot water.
- To protect against fire, electric shock and personal injury, do not immerse the cord, plug, power base or electric kettle in water or near any other liquid.
- Close supervision is necessary when any appliance is used by or near children.
- Unplug the unit from the outlet when not in use and before cleaning. Allow the unit to cool completely before handling any parts or before cleaning the unit.
- Do not operate any appliance with a damaged cord or plug, or after the appliance malfunctions or is dropped or damaged in any manner. Call Danby for recommended servicers in your area.
- The use of accessory attachments is not recommended by the manufacturer as it may result in a fire, electric shock or personal injury.
- Do not use this appliance outdoors.
- Do not let the cord hang over the edge of a table or counter, or touch hot surfaces, including the stove.
- Do not place an electric kettle on or near a hot gas or electric burner or in a heated oven.
- To disconnect the electric appliance, turn all controls to the OFF (O) position and then remove the plug from the wall outlet. Never pull on the cord as this may damage the cord and eventually cause electric shock.
- Do not use this appliance for anything other than its intended use (i.e. to boil water).

- Do not use for anything other than heating water. Other liquids or foods will contaminate the interior and void the warranty.
- Do not allow the kettle to boil dry.
- To avoid circuit overload, do not operate another high-wattage appliance on the same circuit.
- Scalding may occur if the lid is opened during the heating cycle.
- Use on a hard, flat level surface only, to avoid interruption of air flow underneath the appliance.
- Extreme caution must be used when handling or moving the kettle, and when pouring from a kettle that contains boiling water.
- Do not use an extension cord for this appliance.
- Place the kettle far back from the edge of the counter.
- Do not put any parts from this kettle in the dishwasher, including the removable filter.
- Do not hold the switch in the on position, as this may damage the auto shut-off mechanism.
- The kettle body will get very hot, be careful when handling.
Grounding Instructions
This appliance is intended for household use only. WARNING-Shock Hazard: This product is provided with a grounded (3-prong) plug to reduce the risk of electric shock. The plug fi ts only one way into the grounded outlet. Do not defeat the safety purpose of the plug by modifying the plug in ANY WAY or by using an adaptor. The length of the cord used on this appliance was selected to reduce the hazards of becoming tangled in or tripping over a longer cord.

IMPORTANT - DO NOT OVERFILL THE KETTLE, BOILING WATER MAY SPIT OUT OF THE SPOUT.
- Place the kettle on a fl at surface.
- Before filling the kettle, remove it from the power base and open the lid by pressing down on the lid release button. Fill the kettle past the MIN line but not above the MAX line. Push the lid back in place.
- Position the kettle back on the power base.
- Connect the plug on the power base to the power outlet.
- Press down on the ON/OFF (I/O) switch, the kettle will turn off automatically once the water has boiled. When the water in the kettle cools to a certain temperature, you will be able to activate the kettle again. NOTE: Ensure that the power switch is free of obstructions and that the lid is firmly closed, the kettle will not turn off if the switch is obstructed or if the lid is open.
- Lift the kettle from the power base and carefully pour. Please pour the kettle with extreme care to avoid burns caused by boiling water and steam.
- The kettle will not re-boil until the switch is pressed again. The kettle may be stored on the power base when not in use. Always disconnect the power supply from the wall outlet when not in use.
Boil-Dry Protection: Should you accidentally let the kettle operate without water, the boil-dry protection function will automatically switch off the power. If this occurs, allow the kettle to cool prior to filling with cold water for re-boiling.
*Note: The decorative cover also acts as protection if you need to touch the lid while the kettle is hot.
CLEANING YOUR KETTLE
Always disconnect the appliance from the power outlet and let it cool completely prior to cleaning.
- Never immerse the kettle, power cord or power base in water. Do not allow moisture to come in contact with the power cord or power base.
- Never use chemicals or abrasive cleaners to clean the outside. Do not use steel wool or sharp objects to clean the outside as this may damage the outside of the kettle.

Wipe the outside of the kettle body with a damp cloth or mild cleaning solution. NEVER USE HARSH CHEMICALS OR CLEANERS. If using a cleaner to wipe the outside of the kettle, wipe it off with a water dampened cloth.

It is important to clean the filter located in the spout periodically. The filter catches lime and mineral debris and can become clogged. The filter is easily removed from the kettle spout by sliding it up towards the opening of the spout.

Due to the gradual build up of calcium, lime and mineral deposits in your kettle, it is important to clean the interior of the kettle periodically.
- To clean the interior, a kettle descaling agent can be used. Carefully follow the instructions on the package of the descaler.
- The interior of the kettle can also be cleaned using white vinegar. Fill the kettle with 1 cup of white vinegar and 1-2 cups of water. Bring the kettle to a boil and let it sit for several hours. Discard the vinegar water mixture. Add clean tap water to the kettle and boil. This may need to be repeated until no trace of vinegar remains.
LIMITED APPLIANCE WARRANTY
This quality product is warranted to be free from manufacturer's defects in material and workmanship, provided that the unit is used under the normal operating conditions intended by the manufacturer.
This warranty is available only to the person to whom the unit was originally sold by Danby Products Limited (Canada) or Danby Products Inc. (U.S.A.) (hereafter "Danby") or by an authorized distributor of Danby, and is non-transferable.
TERMS OF WARRANTY
Plastic parts, are warranted for thirty (30) days only from purchase date, with no extensions provided.
First Year
During the first twelve (12) months, any functional parts of this product found to be defective, will be repaired or replaced, at warrantor's option, at no charge to the ORIGINAL purchaser.
To obtain service
It will be the consumer's responsibility to transport the appliance (at their own expense) to the original retailer (point of purchase) or a service depot for repair. Contact your dealer from whom your unit was purchased, or contact your nearest authorized Danby service depot, where service must be performed by a qualified service technician. If service is performed on the unit by anyone other than an authorized service depot, or the unit is used for commercial application, all obligations of Danby under this warranty shall be void.
Nothing within this warranty shall imply that Danby will be responsible or liable for any spoilage or damage to food or other contents of this appliance, whether due to any defect of the appliance, or its use, whether proper or improper.
EXCLUSIONS
Save as herein provided, by Danby, there are no other warranties, conditions, representations or guarantees, express or implied, made or intended by Danby or its authorized distributors and all other warranties, conditions, representations or guarantees, including any warranties, conditions, representations or guarantees under any Sale of Goods Act or like legislation or statute is hereby expressly excluded. Save as herein provided, Danby shall not be responsible for any damages to persons or property, including the unit itself, howsoever caused or any consequential damages arising from the malfunction of the unit and by the purchase of the unit, the purchaser does hereby agree to indemnify and hold harmless Danby from any claim for damages to persons or property caused by the unit.
GENERAL PROVISIONS
No warranty or insurance herein contained or set out shall apply when damage or repair is caused by any of the following:
1) Power failure.
2) Damage in transit or when moving the appliance.
3) Improper power supply such as low voltage, defective house wiring or inadequate fuses.
4) Accident, alteration, abuse or misuse of the appliance such as inadequate air circulation in the room or abnormal operating conditions (extremely high or low room temperature).
5) Use for commercial or industrial purposes (ie. If the appliance is not installed in a domestic residence).
6) Fire, water damage, theft, war, riot, hostility, acts of God such as hurricanes, floods etc.
7) Service calls resulting in customer education.
8) Improper Installation (ie. Building-in of a free standing appliance or using an appliance outdoors that is not approved for outdoor application).
Proof of purchase date will be required for warranty claims; so, please retain bill of sale. In the event warranty service is required, present this document to our AUTHORIZED SERVICE DEPOT.
