USER MANUAL HL 8111 SEVERIN
Before using the appliance, the user should read the following instructions carefully.
Connection to the mains supply
Make sure that the supply voltage corresponds with the voltage marked on the rating label of the appliance. This product complies with the directives which are binding for the CE-labelling.

Important safety instructions
- Do not operate the heater near any inflammable materials.
The heater may only be operated at a minimum distance, in any forward or lateral direction, of 50~cm from a wall or
other object.
- Warning: Do not operate the heater near baths, showers, wash basins, swimming pools or any other basin containing water.
The appliance must not be operated, positioned or wall-mounted directly underneath or in close proximity to any wall socket. - Do not touch the air outlet grille, as it becomes hot during operation.
- Do not allow the power cord to touch any hot part of the appliance.
- To prevent the risk of fire, do not cover the heater (eg with clothes or blankets).
- This appliance is not intended for use by any person (including children) with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lacking experience and knowledge, unless they have been given supervision or instruction concerning the use of the appliance by a person responsible for their safety.
Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance. - Do not leave the heater unattended during operation. Hazards may occur, eg when touching the heater or knocking it over, or as a result of inappropriate positioning.
- Do not insert any objects through the grille or into the interior of the appliance.
- Always switch off and remove the plug from the wall socket after use, and also - in case of any malfunction and - during cleaning.
Do not attempt to switch off the appliance or to remove the plug from the wall socket with wet hands.

Before the appliance is used, the main unit as well as any attachments fitted should be checked thoroughly for defects. Should the appliance, for instance, have been dropped onto a hard surface, it must not be used any longer: even invisible damage may have adverse effects on the operational safety of the appliance.

This appliance is intended for domestic use only and not for commercial applications. - In order to comply with safety regulations and to avoid hazards, repairs of electrical appliances must be carried out by qualified personnel, including the replacement of the power cord. If repairs are needed, please send the appliance to one of our customer service departments. The addresses can be found in the appendix to this manual.
Multistage switch
The multistage switch has the following settings:
0 = Off
= Cold air-flow
I = H aft power
= Full power
Thermostat control
(Models HL 8111, SH 8401)
Using the infinitely adjustable thermostat control, the unit can be preset to a specific room temperature. As the preset room temperature is reached, the unit will automatically switch off. Once the temperature has fallen below the preset level, the heater will switch on again. The thermostat function must also be used for cold air flow operation. The operational mode is shown by the indicator lamp.
Thermal safety cut-out
Once the safety cut-out has switched off the appliance, remove the plug from the wall socket and allow for a sufficient cooling down period before switching on again. Should the cut-out operate a second time, the appliance must be checked by qualified personnel.
Integral safety switch
(HL 8101, SH 8401)
This heater is equipped with an additional safety switch, located in the base of the unit. This safety feature automatically switches the appliance off if it should be accidentally overturned. In order to ensure that this safety device is fully functional, the heater must be placed on a firm and level surface at all times.
If wall-mounted, an additional clamp must be fitted over the safety switch.
Important: Do not fit the holding clamp unless the heater is wall-mounted.
Wall mounting
(Models HL 8101, SH 8401)
The model HL 8111 fan heater with oscillating function is not suitable for wall mounting.

If the appliance is mounted or used in a bathroom, a minimum distance of 3m from any bath, shower or wash basin etc. must be observed.

The appliance must not be wall-mounted directly underneath any wall socket.
-
Drill two 6mm holes (30mm deep) at a horizontal distance of 91mm from each other and at a height level of at least 30 cm.
- Insert two 6mm dowels or plugs and two 3.5mm× 35mm screws leaving 5mm protruding.
- Place the clamp into the air inlet openings and fit it in correct alignment with the lower wall spacer. The recess in the clamp must be aligned with the opening for the power cord. (see diagram)
The recess in the lower part of the clamp acts as a guide for the safety switch and ensures that the clamp is properly positioned.
- There are two keyhole openings at the rear of the unit, each one with a locking lever. Push these levers down (position I). Fit the unit to the wall by sliding the two keyhole openings over the screw
heads. Push the levers up again (position II); ensure that the unit is securely held in place.
- If the heater is taken off its wall mounting, the clamp must be removed from the safety switch.
Wind-up power cord storage
Unwind the power cord completely before using the appliance. Allow for a sufficient cooling-down period before re-stowing the power cord.
General Cleaning and Care
- Before cleaning the appliance, ensure it is disconnected from the power supply and has cooled down completely.
- To avoid the risk of electric shock, do not clean the appliance with water and do not immerse it in water.
- The housing may be wiped with a slightly damp, lint-free cloth.
- If necessary, dust particles accumulated in the air inlet and outlet openings may be removed with a vacuum cleaner.
Disposal

Do not dispose of old or defective appliances in domestic garbage; this should only be done through public collection points.
Guarantee
This product is guaranteed against defects in materials and workmanship for a period of two years from the date of purchase. Under this guarantee the manufacturer undertakes to repair or replace any parts found to be defective, providing the product is returned to one of our authorised service centres. This guarantee is only valid if the appliance has been used in accordance with the instructions, and provided that it has not been modified, repaired or interfered with by any unauthorised person, or damaged through misuse.
This guarantee naturally does not cover wear and tear, nor breakables such as glass
and ceramic items, bulbs etc. If the product fails to operate and needs to be returned, pack it carefully, enclosing your name and address and the reason for return. If within the guarantee period, please also provide the guarantee card and proof of purchase.
