Safety Information

• Before connecting the device to your power supply, please ensure that the supply voltage stated on the rating plate is compatible with your mains supply.
• Only use this unit according to the intended purpose and as directed in the instruction manual. The device is not intended for commercial use.
• Do not use any auxiliary parts that have not been recommended by the maker.
• Avoid contact with pointed or sharp objects. The warranty is null and void if it is not used for the intended purpose.
• This device is not designed to be used by persons (including children) with limited physical, sensory or mental abilities, or by persons with insufficient experience and/or knowledge, unless under observation by a person responsible for their safety, or unless they have been instructed in the use of the device.
• Children must be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the device.
• Do not attempt to repair the unit yourself in the event of any defects. Not only does this render the warranty null and void but you can also run the risk of serious hazards (fire, electric shock, injury). Only have repairs carried out by authorised service points.

Please note the following in particular concerning electrical equipment:

• Only use the unit in enclosed spaces!
• Only connect the mains adapter when the unit is switched off.
• Do not reach for the unit if it has fallen into water. Disconnect the mains adapter from the mains socket immediately.
• Do not use any electrical equipment while in the bath or shower. Do not store or keep any electrical equipment in places where it could fall into the bathtub or washbasin.
• Keep the mains cable away from hot surfaces and naked flames.
• Never use the unit in rooms in which aerosols (sprays) are being used or where pure oxygen is being administered.
• Never use the unit if the power cable has been damaged, the mains adapter is defective, if the unit does not work perfectly, if it has fallen into water or has been damaged.
• Never carry, pull or rotate the unit by the mains cable and never pinch the cable between other objects.
• Do not allow the unit to become overheated due to excessively long use.
• Uninterrupted treatment should not last longer than 15 minutes. Then switch off the unit for at least half an hour and allow it to cool down.
• Only pull the plug out of the socket when you have dry hands, when the unit has been switched off and is not being used any longer, and also do this when you have to replace or clean the heads.

Important recommendations concerning your health:

• Consult your doctor first before using this unit if you have diabetes or other related illnesses.
• Pregnant women should note the important precautionary measures and the amount of stress they can take, consult your doctor first if necessary.
• Do not treat any parts of the body that have swellings, burns, inflammation, peeling skin, wounds or other sensitive points.
• The treatment should be pleasant. Stop at once and consult your doctor if you feel pain or the treatment seems unpleasant.

To ensure that your MEDISANA Medistyle provides successful results for a long time, we recommend that you read carefully through the following notes on its use and care.

2.1 Items supplied and packaging

Please check first of all that the device is complete and is not damaged in any way. In case of doubt, do not use it and contact your supplier or your service centre.

The following parts are included:

• Medistyle -unit with mains adapter
• 4 accessory heads (Medistyle S)
• 10 accessory heads (Medistyle L)
- Storage bag
- Instruction manual

The packaging can be reused or recycled. Please dispose properly of any packaging material no longer required.

If you notice any transport damage during unpacking, please contact your supplier without delay.

WARNING

Please ensure that the polythene packing is kept away from the reach of children! Risk of suffocation!

2.2 Special points concerning the MEDISANA Medistyle

• The MEDISANA Medistyle manicure/pedicure unit is easy to use and perfect for caring for your hands, feet and nails. It is particularly suitable for treating ingrown, thickened and very tough nails and also for treating calluses, rough skin and corns. It is also suitable for the cosmetic care of hands, nails and synthetic nails.
• The sapphire heads have an extremely long life and virtually never wear out.
• Due to the minimal risk of injury, the Medistyle is also especially suitable for use by diabetics or older people.
• Do not soften the skin on hands and feet prior to treatment.

2.3 Frequently asked questions and answers

Why is the Medistyle especially suitable for use with diabetics?

Because the speed is continuously adjustable and the device stops if too much pressure is used, the unit can also be used safely by persons who have reduced sensitivity to pain or are unable to react quickly to pain. Also, the sapphire accessory heads only remove dead skin.

Why are there so many heads?

Each head is designed to solve a particular problem for the hands and feet and therefore especially effective and safe in use.

Can several people use one MEDISANA Medistyle?

Yes. But in any case it is best that each person has its own set of the accessory heads to prevent the transmission of skin diseases.

They can be obtained separately from MEDISANA AG.

3 Operating

3.1 Functions

1. ON/OFF switch ②

The ON/OFF rotary switch 2 is on the top of the device. Turn the switch from 0 to the left to switch the device on. If you turn the switch to 0, the device is switched off.

2. Clockwise/anti-clockwise rotation 1

The switch for clockwise/anticlockwise rotation ① is on the top of the device. Move the switch to select clockwise or anticlockwise rotation. Changeover may also be performed whilst the unit is running.

3. Speed controller ②

The speed control ② with the symbols "+" and "0" is on the top of the device. Turning towards "+" increases the speed. Turning towards "0" reduces the speed. The change in speed takes place slowly. Start slowly for each application and increase the continuously adjustable rotating speed to suit your individual requirements.

NOTE

The device switches off automatically if the grinding unit is blocked. Set the dial to zero, wait for a few seconds and start it again.

4. Changing the attachments

The device is equipped with a hexagonal holder for the attachments. Switch the unit off. To change the attachments, first pull off the part that is not required. Place the new attachment in the holder and turn slightly until it clicks into position.

5. Illumination 7

Above the holder for the attachments on the front of the device is an LED ⑦, which lights up the surface to be treated automatically when it is switched on.

3.2 Pedicure

Recommended sequence for a pedicure (care of the feet):

3.3 Manicure

Recommended sequence for a manicure (care of the hands):

1. Coarse-grained sapphire cone (see Pedicure 1) To remove dry hard skin

1. Fine-grained sapphire disk Art.-No. 85004 For shortening nails by filing in the growth direction. Hold the unit firmly, run the nail along the disk. Only file in one direction!

Creaming afterwards and regular care with the MEDISANA Medistyle contributes to well-cared for hands and feet with soft skin and firm nails with a stable structure. Any accessory heads that do not come with the Medistyle S are available as accessories.

4.1 Cleaning and maintenance

• Always pull the mains adapter out of the socket in the case of an electrical unit.
• Never use strong cleaning agents or stiff brushes.
• Clean the unit with a soft cloth which has been lightly moistened with a mild soap. Never dip the unit into water for cleaning and ensure that no water gets into the unit at any time. Only use the unit again, when it is fully dry.
• For hygiene reasons, all attachments may be cleaned with a brush (e.g. old toothbrush). It is also advisable to disinfect the grinding surfaces with commercially available spray disinfectant or 90% alcohol to prevent the transmission of infections. The pins of the attachments should be kept free from grease. First allow the heads to dry off completely before you use them again on the unit.
• Store the device in a dry, cool place.
• Fold up the power cable carefully to avoid cable breaks.

4.2 Disposal

This product must not be disposed of together with domestic waste.

All users are obliged to hand in all electrical or electronic devices, regardless of whether or not they contain toxic substances, at a municipal or commercial collection point so that they can be disposed of in an environmentally acceptable manner.

Consult your local authority or your supplier for information about disposal.

Warranty and repair terms

Please contact your supplier or the service centre in case of a claim under the warranty. If you have to return the unit, please enclose a copy of your receipt and state what the defect is.

The following warranty terms apply:

1. The warranty period for MEDISANA products is three years from date of purchase. In case of a warranty claim, the date of purchase has to be proven by means of the sales receipt or invoice.
2. Defects in material or workmanship will be removed free of charge within the warranty period.

3. Repairs under warranty do not extend the warranty period either for the unit or for the replacement parts.

4. The following is excluded under the warranty:

a. All damage which has arisen due to improper treatment, e.g. non-observance of the user instructions.
b. All damage which is due to repairs or tampering by the customer or unauthorised third parties.
c. Damage which has arisen during transport from the manufacturer to the consumer or during transport to the service centre.
d. Accessories which are subject to normal wear and tear.

1. Liability for direct or indirect consequential losses caused by the unit are excluded even if the damage to the unit is accepted as a warranty claim.
