1. SAFETY PRESCRIPTIONS

This Rice & Pasta Cooker was built in accordance with the European CE-safety standards. As for all electrical household appliances all safety measures have to be taken, in order to prevent accidents and/or to avoid damages to your appliance.

ATTENTION please! Burning danger! Due to the use of the ance the surface becomes hot. Only touch the handles or the rol buttons when the appliance is in action.

  • ATTENTION please! After switching off the appliance surfaces stay hot which causes burning danger. Let the appliance cool down completely before replacing it, cleaning it or putting it away.
    ■ This appliance shall not be used by children from 0 year to 8 years. This appliance can be used by children aged from 8 years and above if they are continuously supervised. This appliance can be used by people with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge if they have been given supervision or instruction concerning the use of the appliance in a safe way and understand the hazards involved. Keep the appliance and its cord out of reach of children aged less than 8 years. Cleaning and user maintenance shall not be made by children.
  • Cooking appliances should be positioned in a stable situation with the handles (if any) positioned to avoid spillage of the hot liquids.
  • This appliance is intended to be used in household and similar applications, excluding: staff kitchen areas in shops, offices and other working environments; farm houses; by clients in hotels, motels and other residential type environments; bed and breakfast type environments.
    ■ This appliance is intended to be used at room temperature. NEVER use the appliance outdoor.

- A damaged power cord can cause electric shocks. NEVER use the appliance if it is damaged, has fallen or shows a malfunction, or if the power cord or plug is damaged. In all these cases return the appliance to your sales point or recognized after sales service.

■ NEVER touch the control panel, the electrical cord or the plug with wet hands, and NEVER immerse them in water or any other liquid. They are only to be cleaned with a damp cloth. Should they get wet anyway, immediately pull out the plug from the socket.

■ NEVER use separate timers or remote-control systems.

- Immediately switch off the appliance and pull out the plug: after use or when the appliance is NOT in use, when cleaning the appliance and before moving it.

  • ONLY use the appliance with the included inner pan.
    ■ ONLY use the inner pan in this appliance.
    ■ NEVER use the appliance without inner pan.
    ■ NEVER move the Rice & Pasta Cooker as long as it is filled with liquid, only the inner pan can be moved.
  • ALWAYS place the appliance on a solid and flat base, such as a kitchen counter or table, so that the appliance won't move or turn over.
    ■ NEVER use the appliance outdoor.
    ■ NEVER pull the power cord, only the plug.
  • NEVER use extension cords or sockets. Place the appliance near a power point and connect it directly. ALWAYS complete unroll the power cord.
    ■ NEVER let the cord hang over the edge of the table or the counter.
    ■ NEVER place the power supply cord near heat sources such as cookers, heatings or ovens.
    ■ NEVER place the appliance near curtains, wall decoration, clothing, towels or other inflammable objects.
    ■ This appliance is only suited for indoor household use, and not for professional use.
    ■ Only use the Rice & Pasta Cooker with 230 V AC.
  • In accordance with the legal safety standards, the Rice & Pasta Cooker must always be plugged into an earthed socket.
    ■ Only use the Rice & Pasta Cooker for cooking pasta/rice and other cereals such as couscous, quinoa, bulgur, ....
    ■ NEVER use the appliance to cook acids or alkaline food (f.ex. spinach, garlic, celery, tomato, broccoli...).
    ■ NEVER fill the inner pan above the MAX indication (= food + water).
    ■ Always keep the base and the inner pan dry and clean.
    ■ Make sure the inner pan is not dented, especially the bottom. This might cause bad contact between the inner pan and the heating element and the appliance will not give the desired result.
    ■ NEVER leave the appliance unattended and NEVER move it when working.
  • CAREFUL: hot steam comes out of the openings in the lid. Make sure there is enough space around and above the appliance.
    ■ NEVER turn the power cord around the appliance, NEVER bend it or squeeze it.
  • ALWAYS switch off the appliance and pull out the plug: after use or when the appliance is not in use, if the appliance doesn't work properly and when cleaning the appliance
    ■ NEVER use accessories or spare parts from other appliances or brands.
    ■ Repairs may only be done by a recognized repairer or service center.

2. BEFORE THE FIRST USE

■ Remove all packaging and stickers.
■ Before the first use we recommend cleaning the appliance such as described in 4. Cleaning.

- Ensure that the voltage marked on the appliance is the same as your main voltage. According to the safety law: only use earthed sockets.

3. USE AND OPERATION

  4. Only use the Rice & Pasta Cooker to cook pasta, rice and other cereals such as couscous, quinoa, bulgur, ...

  5. NEVER turn the appliance on without sufficient water in the inner pan (minimum indication on the inside of the inner pan).

1) Cooking Pasta

  1. Put water in the inner pan, between the PASTA MIN and MAX indication on the inside of the inner pan.
  2. Put the lid on the appliance.
  3. Put the plug into the socket.
  4. Push the On/Off button: the control light above the On/Off button will blink.
  5. Push the Pasta button: the control light 5 min. will light up.

Push once again on the Pasta button: the control light 10 min. will light up.

Push once again on the Pasta button: the control light 15 min. will light up.

After 5 seconds the appliance will start to warm up.

The light above the Pasta button will light up.

Recommended times:

5 minutes for thin pasta

10 minutes for medium pasta

15 minutes for large pasta

  1. As soon as the water boils there will be a sound signal.

CAREFUL: the boiling water produces hot steam which comes out the openings in the lid.

  1. Carefully open the lid, put the pasta in the water. Make sure the pasta can completely be immersed. Do NOT put the lid back on the appliance.
  2. As soon as the cooking time is over (5-10-15 minutes) the appliance automatically switches to the keep warm function. A sound signal will be heard. The control light above the Pasta button will go out and the control light above the On/Off button will light up. The appliance will stay on the keep warm function for 12 hours except if manually turned off.

CAREFUL: immediately drain off the pasta to prevent further cooking.

  1. Put the lid on the appliance. Make sure the rubber handles are in line with the handles of the inner pan

and remove the inner pan from the appliance. Keep the lid on the inner pan with the rubber handles and drain off the water.

CAREFUL: hot steam escapes from the holes.

  1. Push the On/Off button to switch off the appliance and remove the plug from the socket.

2) Cooking rice

  1. Measure the desired quantity of rice with the included measuring cup (180 ml). (Max. 10 cups)
  2. Wash the rice in a sieve (not in the inner pan).
  3. Add butter, oil or other seasonings to taste.
  4. Do the rice in the inner pan.
  5. Add water. Use the indication 'CUP' in the inner pan to add the correct amount of water.

f.ex. when using 2 cups of rice: add water to the CUP 2.

Do not add too much water, this could cause the water to boil over which could cause an electric shock. (not above the CUP 10 indication).

Remark: taste and hardness differ according to the type and the quality of the used rice and the added water. For softer rice: add more water. For harder, more crunchy rice: add less water. To get to your personal taste you might have to experiment.

  1. Before putting the inner pan in the base: check if the heating element, the sensor and the surfaces of the base are clean and dry.
  2. Put the inner pan in the base. Close the lid.
  3. Put the plug in the socket.
  4. Push the On/Off button. The control light above the On/Off button will light up.
  5. Push the Rice button. The control light above the Rice button will blink.
  6. After 5 seconds the appliance will start. The control light will light up. CAREFULL: hot steam escapes from the holes.
  7. As soon as the cooking time is over (cooking time automatically adapts to the quantity of water and rice) the appliance will automatically switch to the keep warm function. There will be a sound signal. The control light above the Rice button will go off and the control light above the On/Off button will light up. The appliance will stay on the keep warm function for 12 hours except if manually turned off.
  8. Remove the lid and stir.
  9. To keep the cooked rice warm: do NOT push the On/Off button and leave the plug in the socket. ATTENTION: as soon as the appliance is turned off it is recommended not to use the keep warm function anymore. This would provide bad structure and taste to the rice.

It is recommended not to keep the rice warm for more than 6 hours. Longer could make your rice to be brown and to have a strange smell. Push on the On/Off button to turn the appliance off and pull the plug from the socket.

3) Keep warm function

For f.ex.stew

  1. Push the On/Off button (also the Keep Warm button).
  2. Push the On/Off button (also the Keep Warm button) once again. The control light above the On/Off button will light up.
  3. The appliance will stay on the keep warm function for 12 hours except if manually turned off.

4. CLEANING

  • The inner pan, the glass lid, the spoon and the measuring cup can be cleaned in hot soapy water.
  • Did you cook the rice/pasta in salty water, then thoroughly rinse the inner pan with clear water and let it dry completely.
  • Clean the inside and the outside of the base regularly with a moist cloth and then dry with a dry cloth. NEVER immerse the electrical part of the appliance in water or any other liquid.

Do not use the appliance, when damaged. Please contact your sale point. If the supply cord is damaged immediately bring your deep fryer/fondue to your outlet store.

THE APPLIANCE HAS BEEN DEVELOPED FOR HOUSEHOLD USE. THE WARRANTY CONDITIONS EXPIRE UPON PROFESSIONAL USE. DEFECTS AND/OF DAMAGES FOLLOWING TO THE NON OBSERVANCE OF THE USER MANUAL ARE NOT COVERED BY THE WARRANTY. We reserve the right to carry out technical modifications.

6. WARRANTY CONDITIONS

Your warranty starts on the day of purchase and is valid for 2 years and will only apply after submitting the purchasing invoice.

The user is responsible for cleaning and proper packaging of the defective appliance before presenting it for repair. It is insufficient to wrap the device in cardboard packaging with paper. Fritel is not liable for damage resulting from insufficient packaging, which also irrevocably invalidates the warranty.

Determination of the warranty

  • The warranty covers every repair and/or replacement free of charge of the motor unit recognized defective by our technical department and if the damage is due to faulty manufacture, construction or material. The knives are not covered by the guarantee, as they are subject to wear and tear.
  • The warranty is only valid for the first/original user.
  • The transport costs, in case of reparation, are at the expenses of the purchaser.
  • The warranty is only granted after presentation of your purchase invoice.
  • The warranty cannot be invoked for normal wear and tear.

The warranty expires in the following cases:

  • Incorrect connection, e.g. electric voltages.
    ■ Abnormal or professional use or misuse handling.
  • In case of insufficient packaging and bad transport in case of return shipping.
  • Lack of care and cleaning.
    ■ Modifications or repairs made to the appliance by persons not authorized by us as a manufacturer.
  • When reference numbers have been altered or been removed.
  • For faults not due to the appliance itself, but to an external cause, collision, damage, fire, earthquake, flood, lightning, etc.
  • When not respecting the instructions in the user instructions.

For appliances that are not under warranty for any of the above reasons, all costs (transport, administration, research, handling) will be charged.

7. LIABILITIES

All liabilities, towards both consumer(s) and third parties, that could result from not observing all the safety regulation prescribed in this user manual, can under no circumstances be charged to the manufacturer. In case of non-observation of these safety regulations, the user of the appliance, or any other person not having observed these safety regulations, protects the manufacturer from all responsibilities that he could be charged with.
