How to connect the RPSP1000 speakers?

Turn off all devices before connection. Connect each speaker to the OUTPUT SPEAKER jack of the right speaker, then plug the AC adapter into the DC IN jack. Use the LINE IN 1 or LINE IN 2 jacks to connect your audio source.

What is the output power of the speakers?

The output power is 10 W + 10 W (total harmonic distortion of 10% at 1 kHz).

Can I use both LINE IN inputs at the same time?

Yes, you can use both inputs simultaneously. The sound from both sources will be mixed automatically.

What to do if there is no sound or low volume?

Check that the POWER switch is on and the volume is not at minimum. Increase the volume on the audio source and make sure the plugs are fully inserted.

How to clean the speakers?

Turn off the speakers and unplug the adapter. Use a soft cloth slightly dampened with soapy water. Never use solvents or abrasive pads.

What types of cables to use for LINE IN?

For LINE IN 1, use the supplied cable (3.5 mm stereo plug). For LINE IN 2, obtain a 3.5 mm stereo male-to-male cable. If your source has a different output (mono, 6.3 mm, etc.), use an appropriate adapter.

Can the speakers be placed near a TV?

Yes, they are designed to be placed nearby. If color irregularities appear, turn off the TV for 30 minutes to activate degaussing. If the problem persists, move the speakers away.

What to do if the sound suddenly cuts out?

The protection circuit has activated due to an excessive input signal. Reduce the volume to minimum, turn off and then on the speakers with the POWER switch.

How to save energy?

Even when off, the speakers consume 3.5 W. For maximum savings, unplug the AC adapter when not in use for an extended period.

PRECAUTIONS

Before using this unit, be sure to read the applicable items of the operating instructions and these safety suggestions carefully.

Afterwards keep them handy for future reference. Take special care to follow the warnings indicated on the unit itself as well as in the operating instructions.

Safety

1. Power Source—The unit should be connected to power supply only of the type described in the operating instructions or as marked on the unit.
2. Polarization—If the unit is equipped with a polarized AC power plug (a plug having one blade wider than the other), that plug will fit into the AC outlet only one way. This is a safety feature. If you are unable to insert the plug fully into the outlet, try reversing the plug. If the plug should still fail to fit, contact your electrician to replace your obsolete outlet. Do not defeat the safety purpose of the polarized plug.
3. Care of AC adaptor—Take care that the cord of the AC adaptor should be routed so that they are not likely to be walked on or pinched by items placed upon or against them. Never take hold of the AC adaptor if your hand is wet, and always grasp the plug body when connecting or disconnecting it.
4. Nonuse Periods—When not in use, be sure to disconnect the AC adaptor from the AC power outlet.

Installation

■ Environment

1. Water and Moisture—Do not use this unit near water—for example, near a bathtub, washbowl, swimming pool, or the like. Damp basements should also be avoided.
2. Heat—Never use or place this unit near a heat source. Do not leave it in an automobile exposed to direct sunlight for a long time with the doors and windows closed as this may deform the cabinet.

■ Placement

1. Foreign Material-Care should be taken so that objects do not fall into and liquids are not spilled into the unit. Do not subject this unit to excessive smoke, dust, mechanical vibration, or shock.
2. Magnetism—The unit should be situated away from equipment or devices that generate strong magnetic fields.
3. Stacking—Do not place any objects, on top of the unit.

Maintenance

Clean the cabinet, panel and controls with a soft cloth lightly moistened with mild detergent solution.

Do not use any type of abrasive pad, scouring powder or solvent such as alcohol or benzine.

Service

1. Damage Requiring Service—The unit should be serviced by qualified service personnel when:

(a) The AC adaptor is damaged; or
(b) Objects have fallen or liquid has been spilled into the unit; or
(c) The unit has been exposed to rain; or
(d) The unit does not appear to operate normally or exhibits a marked change in performance; or
(e) The unit has been dropped, or the enclosure damaged.

1. Servicing—The user should not attempt to service the unit beyond that described in the operating instructions. All other servicing should be referred to an authorized service personnel.

Conserving power

The AC adaptor consumes 3.5 W when the unit is turned off with [POWER]. To save power when the unit is not to be used for a long time, unplug the AC adaptor from the household AC outlet.

Caution

Use the speakers only with the recommended system. Failure to do so may lead to damage to the amplifier and/or the speakers, and may result in the risk of fire. Consult a qualified service person if damage has occurred or if you experience a sudden change in performance.

To use LINE IN 1 and LINE IN 2 at the same time

Use the included cord and a second cord (not included).

The sound is mixed if you use LINE IN 1 and LINE IN 2 at the same time.

LINE IN 1: Use the included cord (3.5 mm stereo plug - 3.5 mm stereo plug)

LINE IN 2: Purchase a second connection cord (3.5 mm stereo plug - 3.5 mm stereo plug) if you intend to use both at the same time.

If irregular coloring occurs on your television

These speakers are designed to be used close to a television, but the picture may be affected with some televisions and set-up combinations.

If this occurs, turn the television off for about 30 minutes.

The television's demagnetizing function should correct the problem. If it persists, move the speakers further away from the television.

Do not attach these speakers to walls or ceilings.

1 Turn [VOL] to "MIN".
2 Press [POWER] to turn the speakers on.
3 Turn on the equipment you have connected and adjust the volume with [VOL].
4 Adjust treble volume with [TREBLE].

Note

• To avoid product damage, do not expose this product to rain, water or other liquids.
• If a gritty noise is heard, wipe away the dirt on the plug.
• Before cleaning the speakers, press [POWER] to turn them off and disconnect the AC adaptor from the AC outlet.

This warranty does not apply to products purchased outside the boundaries of Canada or to any product which has been improperly installed, subjected to usage for which the product was not designed, misuse or abuse, shipping damage, or which has been altered or repaired in any way that affects the reliability or detracts from the performance, nor does it cover any product which is used commercially. Dry cell batteries are not covered by this warranty.
