Congratulations on purchasing the Philips Electric Steam Steriliser! This appliance has been designed to sterilise bottles, accessories, breast pumps and toys. It allows you to sterilise 9 large bottles or 6 wide-neck bottles. It also comes with two baskets in which you can simultaneously sterilise other accessories. The steriliser disinfects baby bottles by destroying all harmful bacteria. It steam-cleans at least 3 minutes at over 95°C (no sterilisation according to clinical standards). Read these instructions for use carefully before using the appliance and save them for future reference.
, Check if the voltage indicated on the type plate corresponds to the local mains voltage before you connect the appliance. , If the mains cord is damaged, it must be replaced by Philips, a service centre authorised by Philips or similarly qualified persons in order to avoid a hazard. , Do not expose the appliance to extreme heat or direct sunlight. , Never disassemble the base to avoid the risk of electric shock. , Always use clean water, preferably filtered, pre-boiled or sterilised water. , Do not put bleach, descaling agents or other chemicals in the steam steriliser. , Never use the appliance without water in it. , Always let the appliance cool down before moving or storing it. , Do not immerse the base, the mains cord or the mains plug in water or in any other other liquid. , The appliance will become extremely hot and may cause burns if touched. , Always place and use the appliance on a dry, stable, level and horizontal surface. , Never move or open the appliance when it is in use or when the water in it is still hot. , Beware of hot steam coming out of the vent in the lid when the appliance is in use. Steam can cause burns. , Keep the appliance out of the reach of children. , Do not place the appliance on a hot surface or in a heated oven. , Do not let the mains cord hang over the edge of the table or worktop on which the appliance is standing. , Only use baby bottles that have been approved for boiling. , Use and store the appliance at a temperature between 10°C and 35°C. , Always pour any remaining water out of the appliance after use. , Test food on the back of your hand before serving it, to ensure that it is at a safe temperature for your baby. , This steriliser does not sterilise according to clinical standards. , Always unplug the appliance after use.
Never place items on top of the appliance when it is in use.
This ap)pliance is equipped with an electronic shut-off function that automatically switches the appliance off after 10 minutes, when the sterilising process is finished.
Before first use 1 Clean all detachable parts (see chapter ‘Cleaning’). 2 Adjust the length of the mains cord by winding part of it round the cord storage brackets in the base of the appliance. 3 Put the mains plug in the wall socket. Preparing for use Filling the water reservoir 1 Remove the container from the base 2 Fill the measuring cup up to the required level (90ml). Do not use less water than 90ml to prevent the appliance from boiling dry. 3 Pour the water into the water reservoir (onto the heating element). (Fig. 2) 4 Place the container on the base. (Fig. 3) Using the appliance Sterilising 1 Clean all objects that have to be sterilised. 2 Make sure that there is enough water in the water reservoir (see chapter ‘Preparing for use’). 3 Place the bottles upside down onto the pins inside the container. (Fig. 4) - The bottle in the middle can be placed on the centre pillar or can be put in the middle without the centre pillar. - The container can contain 9 large bottles or 6 wide-neck bottles. - The centre pillar can be used for the screw rings. When you use the centre pillar for screw rings, you can sterilise 8 large bottles or 6 wide-neck bottles. 4 Fill the lower basket and put it on the centre pillar. (Fig. 5) This is only possible if you have filled the container with small bottles. If you have filled the container with large bottles, you cannot use the lower basket. Make sure that the objects inserted in the container do not touch the heating element. 5 Fill the upper basket and place it on the rim of the container. (Fig. 6) 6 Put the lid on the container. (Fig. 7) 7 Press the on/off button. The power-on light goes on to indicate that the appliance is operating. (Fig. 8) The sterilising process takes 10 minutes. At the end of this process, the appliance switches off automatically and the power-on light goes out. Always let the appliance complete the entire 10minute sterilising process. 8 Let the appliance cool down for approx. 3 minutes before you remove the lid. 9 Remove the lid.
Be careful when you remove the lid, it may still be hot and steam may come out the appliance.
10 Wash your hands thoroughly before you remove the sterilised items. 11 Remove the bottles or objects from one or both baskets and from the container. Be careful, the air and objects inside the steriliser may still be hot. 12 Let the appliance cool down for at least 10 minutes before you you use it again. Steaming fruit and vegetables You can also use the steriliser for steaming fruit and vegetables to prepare a fresh meal for your baby. 1 Make sure there is enough water in the water reservoir. 2 Remove the lower basket and the centre pillar. 3 Put the fruits and/or vegetables in a bowl or on a plate. 4 Put the bowl or plate in the container. (Fig. 9) 5 Put the lid on the container. (Fig. 10) 6 Press the on/off button. The power-on light goes on to indicate that the appliance is operating. (Fig. 8) The appliance switches off automatically after 10 minutes. The power-on light goes out. 7 Let the appliance cool down for approx. 3 minutes before you remove the lid. 8 Remove the bowl or plate from the container. Be careful, some steam may still come out of the container. 9 Test if the fruits or vegetables are steamed properly. If not, put another 90ml water into the water reservoir and let the appliance operate for another 10 minutes. 10 Test food on the back of your hand before serving it, to ensure that it is at a safe temperature for your baby. Cleaning Do not use abrasives, aggressive cleaning agents (e.g. bleach), antibacterial substances, oil or other chemicals to clean the steriliser. 1 Always unplug the steriliser and let it cool down before cleaning it. 2 Clean all parts, except the base, in the dishwasher or in warm water with some washing-up liquid. 3 Clean the base with a moist cloth. Descaling Descale the steriliser every 2 weeks, to ensure it continues to work effectively. Tip: Using pre-boiled or filtered water in the steriliser reduces scale-build-up. 1 Prepare a solution of 1 part vinegar (4 percent acetic acid) and 3 parts water. Pour 90ml of this solution into the water reservoir. 2 Place the container with the baskets and lid on the base and switch on the appliance. 3 Repeat this process, if necessary. 4 Thoroughly rinse all removable parts and wipe the base with a damp cloth.
Do not throw away the appliance with the normal household waste at the end of its life, but hand it in at an official collection point for recycling. By doing this, you will help to preserve the environment. (Fig. 11)

Why doesn’t the power-on light go on?
There may be a connection problem. Check the mains cord.
Why does water flow out of the steriliser?
You may have poured too much water in the steriliser. Do not pour more than 90ml water in the water reservoir.

Why are there white spots in the These white spots are scale. Scale build-up is quite normal and will be worst if the water you use is very hard. Descale the water reservoir, the bottles, the container, the baskets or in the appliance regularly (see chapter ‘Descaling’). lid?
Why does a lot of steam escape from under the lid?
The baskets and/or the items to be sterilised have been put in the container in the wrong way. Fill the container properly and place the lid properly on the container (see chapter ‘Using the appliance’).
