How to use the Steba FG 65 barbecue for the first time?

Lightly grease the non-stick plates, preheat the appliance closed at maximum temperature for 10 minutes, then wipe with a damp cloth. A slight smoke emission is normal during first use.

What temperature settings are available?

The appliance has 6 positions: 1 (90°C, keep warm), 2 (115°C, fish/vegetables), 3 (135°C, poultry gentle cooking), 4 (155°C, vegetables/meat gentle cooking), 5 (175°C, searing poultry/seafood/game), 6 (200°C, searing white and red meat).

How to set the LCD timer?

Press the button on the handle to set the cooking time in minutes. The countdown flashes; if the time is less than one minute, it displays in seconds. An audible signal sounds at the end. To correct, hold the button for 2 seconds.

What to do if the timer no longer works?

Check the timer battery (watch battery). Open the compartment under the handle, replace the battery. Do not dispose of used batteries in nature, take them to a collection point.

How to clean the barbecue after use?

Unplug the appliance and let it cool for a few minutes. Clean the plates with a damp cloth and a little mild dish soap. For stubborn residues, apply a little oil, wait 5 minutes, then wipe. Never use abrasive products. Clean the grease tray when cold.

What are the important safety precautions?

The appliance heats up strongly: keep it out of reach of children, do not touch hot surfaces, use gloves. Place it on a stable, heat-resistant surface, at least 70 cm from flammable materials. Never immerse the appliance in water. Unplug it before cleaning.

Why does smoke come out during first use?

That's normal. Manufacturing residues burn off slightly. Preheat the appliance at maximum temperature for 10 minutes with the lid closed, then clean. The smoke will then disappear.

Can I use metal utensils on the plates?

No, to avoid damaging the non-stick coating, use only wooden or plastic spatulas.

How to dispose of the appliance at the end of its life?

Do not dispose of the appliance with household waste. Ask your retailer or local authority for collection points for used electrical appliances.

What to do in case of failure or malfunction?

Safety information

• Connect and operate the appliance only in accordance with the specifications on the rating plate.
• Do not use if the cord or appliance is damaged. Always check before using the appliance! Keep children away from the device. Danger of burn! Persons with reduced experience or insufficient knowledge should not use the appliance, except a person in charge of their safety take care or supervise, how the appliance is used.

• After using the appliance or if the appliance malfunctions, always pull out the plug.

- Never pull at the cord set. Do not chafe it over edges or squeeze it.

- Keep the power supply cord away from hot parts.

Attention! Housing and glass get hot, Risk of burns! Don't place the device on a sensitive surface (c.g. painted furniture) and keep distance of at least 70 cm to burnable materials (c.g. curtains).

Important:

Never place this device on or next to hot surfaces (e.g. hot stoves). Only use it on a even, stable and a heat resisting surface. It is important that no inflamable items are near to the device.

Before the first use:

Oil the grill slightly before the first use. Then heat up the device for ca 10 min with closed plates without food and the thermostat on maximum level. Afterwards clean the plates with a humid cloth. Do not use agressive cleaners to avoid damages to the non-stick surface.

Food preparation:

• Plug in the device according to the datas on the rating label. The red light shines and shows that the device is plugged in. If you turn the thermostat, the green and the red control light shines.
• At the first heating a little bit of smoke can occur. This smoke will vanish after some minutes.
• Heat up the device with closed plates until the green light turns off. You have reached the wanted temperature.
• Put the food in the grill and close the device.
• During grilling, the green light can turn on and off. The thermostat is working.
• When the food is ready, remove it from the grilling plate with a plastic or wodden device, to avoid damages from the non-stick coating.
• Always close the plates to avoid loosing heat.
• When the green light turned off, you can put food again on the grill.

The grill time and the temperature selection depends on several factors:

• Kind and thickness of the food
• The colour of the food
• The personal preferences

Carefull!:

Steam from the food can emerge between the plates. Danger of burns!

Cleaning and maintenance:

• The device should be cleaned after each use
• Unplug the device
• The device should cool down a little. It can be cleaned easier when it is not that hot.
• Never immerse the device in water!
• Use a humid cloth with a little bit of detergent to clean it. Resisting dirt should

be covered with some oil, wait for ca 5 min and try to remove it again with a humid cloth. Do not use abherasive cleaners. When cleaning the oil tray, be careful, that the liquid in it is cooled down completely.

LCD-Timer (model FG 65)

- By pressing the button in the handle, the grill time can be adjusted in minute steps. The clock is counting down. Is the time less than a minute, the time is shown by seconds. A beeper turns on, when the time is running out.

- If the time is adjusted not correct, press the button for ca 2 sec. Then start the time adjustment again.

Attention: The clock doesn't turn off the device. It is only a reminder.

Change of the Battery: (model FG 65)

Open the cover in the bottom of the handle by turning and change the battery. Please deposit the battery according correct.
