How to use the Brentwood CG158W coffee grinder?

Remove the lid, add coffee beans to the stainless steel container without overfilling, replace the lid, plug in the appliance, and press the Pulse button to grind. Release to stop. Unplug after use.

Can I grind green coffee beans?

No, do not attempt to grind raw green coffee beans, as this will break the grinder. Use only roasted beans.

What if the grinder does not start?

Check that the lid is properly in place. The safety lock prevents operation if the lid is not correctly positioned. Also make sure the appliance is plugged in.

How to clean the coffee grinder?

Always unplug the appliance and let it cool down. Wash the lid with warm soapy water, rinse, and dry. Wipe the inside of the container and the lid with a damp cloth. Be careful of sharp blades.

Can I put parts in the dishwasher?

No, no parts of this appliance are dishwasher safe. Hand wash only.

How much coffee beans should I put in the container?

Do not overfill the container to avoid overheating. Use the lid as a measuring scoop following the indicated measurements. A moderate amount is recommended for even grinding.

The grinder emits an odor or smoke during first use, is this normal?

Yes, a slight odor or a little smoke may be emitted during first use due to the chemical reaction of the heating element. This is normal and will dissipate quickly.

The power cord is short, can I use an extension cord?

Use of an extension cord is not recommended, but if necessary, ensure that the extension cord's power rating is at least equal to that of the appliance and install it to avoid tripping hazards.

How to measure ground coffee?

Use the lid as a measuring scoop: measurements are indicated on the lid. Pour ground coffee into the lid, measure the desired amount, then brew.

What if the plug does not fit properly into the outlet?

The plug is polarized (one blade wider). If it does not fit, reverse it. If it still does not fit, contact a qualified electrician. Never modify the plug.

When using this or any other electrical appliance, always follow these basic safety precautions, especially when children are present.

READ ALL INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE USE

WARNING-To reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, serious personal injury and property damage please note the following:

• This product is not intended for use by children. Keep it out of reach of children, pets, and use extra caution when using it near children.
• Always unplug the product from the electrical outlet and allow it to cool before assembling, disassembling, relocating, or cleaning.
• Do not leave the product unattended while in use, and always unplug it from the electrical outlet when not in use.
• Do not immerse the Base, Power Cord, or Plug of this product in or expose the Power Cord or Plug to water or other liquids.
• Do not use attachments not recommended or sold by the product manufacturer.
• Do not place the product on or near a hot gas or electric burner, in a heated oven, or on other heated surfaces.
• Use extreme caution when cleaning appliance.
• Use the product in a well-ventilated area, and keep at least 4-6 inches of space on all sides to allow for adequate air circulation.
• Use the product on a table or flat surface, and keep it away from curtains, wall coverings, clothing, dishtowels, or other flammable materials.
• Do not plug or unplug the product from the electrical outlet with a wet hand.
• This product is intended solely for non-commercial, non-industrial, household use in preparing food for human consumption; do not use the product outdoors or for any other purpose.
• Do not operate the product empty.
• Do not let cord hang over edge of table or counter where it may be tripped over or pulled.
  Do not allow cord to touch hot surfaces.
• Do not operate the product if it has a damaged or cut Power Cord or plug, if wires are exposed, if it malfunctions, if it is dropped or damaged, or if the Motor Housing is dropped in or exposed to water.
• This product has no user-serviceable parts. Do not attempt to examine or repair this product yourself. Please review the Warranty Policy on Page 6.
• Do not put any stress on the power cord where it connects to the product, as the power cord could fray and break.
• This item does not have an "OFF" feature. To shut off please disconnect from power supply.
• Avoid contact with moving parts.

• Check chopper for presence of objects before using.

• Spices or unroasted beans may dull the blade sooner, use accordingly.

SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS:

A short power supply cord is provided to reduce the risk of becoming entangled in or tripping over a longer cord. An extension cord is not recommended for use with this product, but if one must be used:

• The marked electrical rating must be at least as great as that of the product.
• Arrange the extension cord so that it will not drape over the countertop or tabletop

where it can be tripped over or pulled.

WARNING: This product is equipped with a polarized plug (one blade is wider than the other blade) to reduce the risk of electrical shock. This is a safety feature. The plug will fit into a polarized outlet only one way. If you are unable to insert the plug into the electrical outlet, try reversing the

plug. If the plug still does not fit, contact a qualified electrician. Never use the plug with an extension cord unless you can fully insert the plug into the extension cord. Do not alter the plug. Do not attempt to defeat the safety purpose of the polarized plug.

Using Your Coffee Grinding:

IMPORTANT: Before using the coffee grinder for the first time, thoroughly clean the Lid, Motor Housing, and the Container (See Cleaning your Coffee Grinding for directions). Then dry thoroughly.

WARNING: Avoid contact with moving parts.

DO NOT ATTEMPT TO GRIND RAW, GREEN COFFEE BEANS AS THIS WILL DAMAGE THE GRINDER.

1. Remove lid from base of grinder.

2. Add the coffee beans to the Stainless-Steel grinding bowl without overfilling beyond the brim of the container.

3. DO NOT overfill as this will cause appliance to overheat.

4. Securely place lid onto the Grinding Base.

5. Plug the power cord into standard 120-volt outlet.

6. Press and hold the Pulse button to begin grinding.

Attention: First use may cause a slight odor or small smoking upon heating, it is normal. This is a result of the heating element chemical reaction. It quickly goes away.

WARNING: DO NOT hold down the pulse button for more than one (1) minute to avoid overheating.

NOTE: Lid safety lock does not allow the Grinding to operate unless the lid is correctly in its place.

1. Grind until beans are ground to desired consistency. Release Pulse button to stop.
2. Pour ground coffee into Lid.
3. Measure desired coffee and brew.
4. Unplug from outlet when product is not in use or left unattended.

Note: Grinding time should be about fifteen (15) seconds, however the grinding time may vary depending on the quantity and quality of coffee beans, spices, etc.

Cleaning Your Coffee Grinding:

WARNING: Always unplug the product and allow it to cool before cleaning or storing.

WARNING: Do not place any part of the product in a dishwasher.

WARNING: Avoid contact with moving parts.

1. Ensure the appliance has been unplugged from the electrical outlet.
2. Wash Lid in warm, soapy water; then rinse and dry thoroughly.
3. Wipe the inside of the Stainless-Steel housing and Lid with a damp paper towel. Be very careful when cleaning close to the Stainless-Steel blades as they are extremely sharp.
4. Dry completely. Store away from reach of children.
