USER MANUAL FR 6501 swi Exquisit
Please read these instructions carefully before using the appliance, and always follow the safety and operating instructions.
Important: This appliance can be used by children over 8 years old and people with reduced physical, sensory or mental capacities or with a lack of experience or knowledge if they have been given supervision or instructions concerning the safe use of the appliance and the risks involved. Children shall not play with the appliance. Cleaning and user maintenance shall not be made by children unless they are older than 8 years and supervised. Never leave the appliance and its cord unsupervised and within reach of children less than 8 years old or irresponsible persons, especially when it is plugged into the wall or when it is cooling down.
- Check that your mains voltage corresponds to that stated on the appliance.
- Only connect the appliance to a mains earthed wall socket.
To ensure a major security, it is recommended to set up a current flight jump of 30 ~mA in the electric circuit that supplies the appliance. Ask your electrician for advice. - Never leave the appliance unsupervised when in use.
□ From time to time check the appliance for damages. Never use the appliance if cord or appliance shows any signs of damage. In that case, repairs should be made by a competent qualified electrician ^() . Should the cord be damaged, it must be replaced by a competent qualified electrician ^() in order to avoid all danger.
- Only use the appliance for domestic purposes and in the way indicated in these instructions.
- Never immerse the appliance in water or any other liquid for any reason whatsoever. Never place it into the dishwasher. Otherwise the appliance may be damaged.
- Never use the appliance near hot surfaces.
□ Before cleaning or storing the appliance, always unplug the appliance from the power supply and let it cool down to avoid electric shocks. - Never use the appliance outside and always place it in a dry environment.
- Never use accessories which are not recommended by the producer. They could constitute a danger to the user and risk to damage the appliance.
- Never move the appliance by pulling the cord. Make sure the cord cannot get caught in any way. Do not wind the cord around the appliance and do not bend it.
In order to avoid any possible damage due to the normal temperatures of the appliance in use, please respect the following installation instructions:
- place the back side as close to the wall as possible
- leave at least 10~cm of free space on each side and above the appliance.
As a general rule, make sure there is enough ventilation in the room around this appliance during operation. Stand the appliance on a stable heat-resistant surface (not a varnished table or a table cloth).
- Make sure the appliance has cooled down before cleaning and storing it.
- Only cook consumable food. Do not place large pieces of food or metallic utensils in the oven in order to avoid all risk of fire or electrocution. Also never place the following materials in the oven: paper, cardboard or plastic...
□ It is absolutely necessary to keep this appliance clean at all times as it comes into contact with food.
- Make sure the cord never comes into contact with the hot parts of the appliance.
The temperature of the accessible surfaces, such as the door of the oven, may be very high when the appliance is in use. Never touch those surfaces during use nor before the appliance has totally cooled down, and only handle the knobs.
- Make sure the hot parts of the appliance never come into contact with inflammable materials, such as curtains, cloth, etc. when it is in use, as a fire might occur. Also make sure not to cover the appliance and do not put anything on top of it. Make sure nothing comes into contact with the heating element of the appliance.
Caution: the appliance can reach high temperatures when in use. Preparations might catch fire if they are overheated. Before pulling the mains plug, switch the temperature selector to "MIN/0".
If you use the appliance under a cooking hob, make sure to respect the minimum distance advised by the manufacturer. - Whatever happens, never add oil or any other liquid to prepare the food.
□ Always unplug the appliance after use and let it cool down before handling or storing it. - Do not put foodstuffs into the oven that fill the entire volume of the cooking chamber, as this may cause a fire and destroy the appliance.

Do not use metal scrapers to clean the appliance. Fragments coming off the scrapers might come into contact with metal parts which would entail a risk of electrocution.
□ Do not use the appliance if the bowl is not in place. -
Your appliance must never be switched on through an external timer or any kind of separate remote control system.
Please note: Should the symbol be indicated on a certain surface, you need to be careful when handling the product. This symbol means: CAUTION, this surface may get very hot during use.
The symbol s always put on the surface with the highest temperature, however the other metallic or non-metallic surfaces can also become very hot during use and it is therefore advisable to always handle them with care and if possible with the help of isothermal gloves or other thermal protection. In case of doubt concerning the temperature of a certain surface it is always preferable to protect oneself.

SHORT CORD INSTRUCTIONS
A short power supply cord is provided to reduce the risk resulting from becoming entangled in, or tripping over a longer cord. Extension cords may be used if care is exercised in their use.
- The electrical rating of the extension cord should be at least 16 ampere. An extension cord of less than 16 ampere could overheat and get damaged.
- The longer cord should be arranged so that it will not drape over the counter top or tabletop where it can be pulled on by children or tripped over.
BEFORE USE
- Unpack the appliance and accessories, then wash and wipe these accessories.
It is normal if some smoke or smell emanates from the appliance when using it for the first time. Therefore, we advise you to use your appliance empty once before the first use. Set the timer to 15 minutes and the thermostat on the maximum position.
PREHEATING
When the appliance has been plugged in, set the thermostat on the desired temperature and set the timer (between 0 and 30 minutes).
To reach a stable and correct temperature for use, it is necessary to wait 10 to 15 minutes.
During this time, the temperature control light will go on and off several times.
A good preheating will allow you to have browned and crispy fries.
USE
- Plug in the appliance.
- Set the thermostat to the desired temperature. Then set the timer (between 0 and 30 minutes). The pilot lamps light up. As soon as the desired temperature is reached, the pilot light will go out. When the temperature falls, the thermostat will be activated again, and the pilot light will illuminate. It will go out again as soon as the temperature is reached. This cycle will go on during use.
CAUTION: THE APPLIANCE WILL SWITCH OFF AUTOMATICALLY WHEN THE COOKING TIME SET WITH THE TIMER HAS ELAPSED.
- When the fryer has reached the desired temperature and the pilot light has gone out, take the handle and remove the bowl with the basket from the body of the appliance and put them on a stable and heat-resistant surface.
REMARK: When doing this, do not press the basket release button. The release button is only for when you want to separate the basket from the bowl (for cleaning...)
- Place the food into the basket and put the basket into the body of the appliance. Do not overfill the basket (do not exceed the MAX level).
For a homogeneous cooking, you can open the appliance during the cooking process to mix the food.
CAUTION WHEN OPENING THE BOWL: VERY HOT STEAM MIGHT ESCAPE. TAKE CARE TO AVOID BURNS.
- At the end of the cooking time, the timer emits a beep. Hold the handle and remove the bowl from the body of the appliance. Ensure the food is thoroughly cooked inside and out. Empty the basket on a plate.
After use, put the thermostat on "MIN/0" position and the timer on "OFF/0", unplug the fryer and let it open a little for faster cooling.
FOR BEST RESULTS
- Food for frying should be roughly of the same size to ensure the food cooks evenly and thoroughly.
- Do not overfill the basket.
ATTENTION: Your appliance is equipped with a safety system that switches off the appliance when you open/remove the bowl.
If you open the appliance to add or remove food, it is switched off automatically and it will only be operational again when the bowl is put back in place correctly.
As long as the appliance has not cooled down completely, do not put your hands at the space that is foreseen for the bowl as you might get burnt.
RECIPES
Fresh Chips
- Use 'old' potatoes (no 'new' potatoes). Peel & cut the potatoes into equal sizes. Rinse the chipped potatoes under running water to reduce the starch level. Dry thoroughly and separate the pieces.
- Place the chips into a bowl and mix with 1 spoon of oil.
- Preheat the appliance for 5 minutes at 200^ .
- When the temperature has reached 200^ , place the chips in the basket and then put it into the fryer.
- For 400g of chips, bake for 7 minutes on 200^ then open the basket, mix the chips & bake for another 5-7 minutes.
- Remove the chips from the fryer and dry on kitchen paper.
- Season with salt and serve.
- Cooking times may vary slightly depending on the type of potatoes used and the thickness of the chips.
If you find that the chips are a little too dry, before starting to bake you can pour 4 spoons of cooking oil into the bowl of the appliance. As the chips don't touch the oil, they will not be fat & the cooking result will be less dry.
Frozen Chips
- Preheat the appliance for 5 minutes at 200^ .
- When the temperature has reached 200^ , place the chips in the basket and then put it into the fryer.
- For 400g of chips, bake for 5-6 minutes on 200^ then open the basket, mix the chips & bake for another 5-6 minutes.
- Remove the chips from the fryer and dry on kitchen paper.
- Season with salt and serve.
- Cooking times may vary slightly depending on the type of potatoes used and the thickness of the chips.

CLEANING
Before cleaning, switch off and unplug the appliance and let it cool down.
- Clean the body of the appliance with a damp cloth. Never immerse the appliance in water or any other liquid. Do not use strong detergents or abrasive cloths/liquid, as this will damage the appliance.
- The basket and the bowl can be cleaned in warm soapy water. The basket can be removed from the bowl by pressing the release button.
- Never put the basket or the bowl in the dishwasher.
