USER MANUAL SEB 2162 MIELE

This Electrobrush complies with current safety requirements. Inap- propriate use can, however, lead to personal injury and damage to property. To avoid the risk of accidents and damage to the Electrobrush and to the vacuum cleaner, please read these instructions and those of the vacuum cleaner carefully before using for the first time. They contain important information on safety, operation and mainten- ance. Keep these instructions in a safe place and ensure that new users are familiar with the content. Pass them on to any future owner. Always disconnect the vacuum cleaner from the mains supply when you have finished using it, before changing over accessories, as well as for maintenance work and cleaning. Switch the vacuum cleaner off at the wall socket and unplug it. Correct application The Miele Electrobrush is a motor-driven accessory for use with Miele vacuum cleaners only. It must not be used with vacuum clean- ers produced by other manufacturers. The Electrobrush must only be used for household purposes to vacuum and brush dry floor surfaces. Do not use on people or anim- als. Any other use, modification or alteration to the Electrobrush is not permitted. The vacuum cleaner and Electrobrush can only be used by people with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of ex- perience or knowledge, if they are supervised whilst using them or have been shown how to use them in a safe way and understand and recognise the consequences of incorrect operation.en - Warning and Safety instructions

Safety with children Danger of suffocation. Packaging, e.g. plastic wrappings, must be kept out of the reach of babies and children. Whilst playing, children could become entangled in packaging or pull it over their head and suffocate. Children under 8 years of age must be kept away from the vacuum cleaner and Electrobrush unless they are constantly supervised. Children 8 years and older may only use the vacuum cleaner and Electrobrush unsupervised if they have been shown how to use them safely and recognise and understand the consequences of incorrect operation. Children must not be allowed to clean or maintain the vacuum cleaner and Electrobrush unsupervised. Please supervise children in the vicinity of the vacuum cleaner and Electrobrush and do not let them play with them. Technical safety Before connecting the Electrobrush please ensure that the con- nection data on the data plate of the vacuum cleaner (voltage and frequency) match the mains electricity supply exactly. The vacuum cleaner is suitable for use with 50Hz or 60Hz without modification. Please check the Electrobrush, the electro suction hose and the electro telescopic suction tube for any visible signs of damage be- fore using them. They must not be used if there is any sign of dam- age to them. Repairs to the Electrobrush, electro suction hose and electro tele- scopic suction tube during the guarantee period should only be un- dertaken by a Miele authorised service technician. Otherwise any subsequent damage to them will not be covered by the guarantee.en - Warning and Safety instructions

Do not let the vacuum cleaner, the Electrobrush, the electro tele- scopic suction tube and the electro suction hose get wet. Clean only with a dry cloth or slightly damp cloth when disconnected from the mains supply. The Electrobrush, electro telescopic suction tube and the electro suction hose contain electrical cables. The plug connectors must not come in contact with water. Danger of electric shock. They should only be cleaned with a dry cloth. Repairs should only be carried out on the vacuum cleaner, the Electrobrush, the electro telescopic suction tube and the electro suc- tion hose by a Miele authorised service technician. Repairs and other work by unqualified persons can cause considerable danger to users. Caution: The vacuum cleaner handle, hose and Electrobrush con- tain electrical connections. The handle, hose and Electrobrush are not parts which can be serviced by the user. The hose should be checked regularly for signs of damage. Do not use the hose if it is damaged. Correct use Never touch the roller brush while it is rotating. Do not use the Electrobrush at head level. Keep the Electrobrush away from curtains, clothing, etc. as these could be vacuumed in and become entangled in the roller brush. Do not vacuum up anything which has been burning or is still glowing e.g. cigarettes, ashes or coal, whether glowing or apparently extinguished. Do not vacuum up any inflammable or combustible liquids or gases and do not vacuum in areas where such substances are stored.en - Warning and Safety instructions

Do not use the vacuum cleaner to vacuum up any water, liquid or damp dirt. Wait until any freshly cleaned or shampooed rugs or car- pets are completely dry before attempting to vacuum. Miele cannot be held liable for damage caused by incorrect use or operation or by non-compliance with these Warning and Safety in- structions.en

Illustrations The illustrations referred to in the text are shown at the end of these operat- ing instructions. Using the Electrobrush The roller brush in the Electrobrush is motor driven. The Electrobrush removes deep seated dirt and prevents areas of frequent use being trodden into a path. Four rollers keep the Electrobrush 1.5 mm above floor level. Use Recommended use Do not use the Electrobrush to clean highly variable or uneven floors. The base plate on the Electro- brush might come into contact with the floor and cause damage. The Electrobrush should not be used for vacuuming deep-pile rugs and carpets or valuable hand-knot- ted rugs and carpets, e.g. Persian and oriental rugs etc. There is a danger of the threads being pulled out. The Electrobrush is particularly suitable for intensive vacuuming of carpets which are subject to hard wear. The standard floorhead or one of the Miele floorbrushes should be used for cleaning hard floors. It is also important to observe the flooring manufacturer's cleaning and care instructions. How to use the Electrobrush To achieve the best results, pass the Electrobrush slowly backwards and forwards over the carpet or floor. For rugs and carpets with fringes al- ways draw the Electrobrush from the middle of the rug or carpet across the fringe towards the floor. Connecting the SEB 216 to your cyl- inder vacuum cleaner (dia. 01 + 02) The position of the socket on your va- cuum cleaner will vary depending on model. Connect the Electrobrush to the va- cuum cleaner as illustrated. Connecting the SEB 217 to your cyl- inder or mini upright vacuum cleaner(dia. 03, 04 + 05) The position of the socket on your va- cuum cleaner will vary depending on model. Connect the Electrobrush to the va- cuum cleaner as illustrated. Switching on and off The Electrobrush switches on with the vacuum cleaner. Some vacuum cleaners have a switch for switching the Electrobrush on an off independently.en

Indicator light The indicator light on the Electrobrush has dual functionality. It will light up: – yellow, when the roller brush is rotat- ing – red, if the roller brush is blocked (roller brush safety mechanism), e.g. because a large object has been va- cuumed. Disconnect the vacuum cleaner from the electrical supply immediately. Switch off at the wall socket and un- plug it. Remove the blockage. See "Mainten- ance". Wait approx. two minutes before switching the vacuum cleaner on again. This will enable the roller brush safety mechanism to reset itself. Maintenance Always disconnect the vacuum cleaner from the power supply for maintenance work and for cleaning. Switch off at the wall socket and un- plug it. Removing threads and hairs (dia. 06, 07 + 08) Cut any threads or hairs that have wound themselves around the roller brush with a pair of scissors . Then run the vacuum cleaner to va- cuum up the bits. The roller brush cover can be opened to remove stubborn soiling or blockages from inside the Electrobrush. Loosen both locking screws under- neath the Electrobrush with a coin and then remove the roller cover. The roller brush can then be taken out of its holder and cleaned. Clean the area around the roller brush at the same time. Please observe illustration (dia. 09) when refitting the roller brush. The roller bearing has marks on it in the form of notches. With a new roller brush the end of the roller bearing with the one notch must face the base plate (see left hand illus- tration). This enables the bristles to stick out by 2 mm which is important for good brushing. When the bristles start to show signs of wear after prolonged use: Refit the roller bearing so that the end with two notches points towards the base plate (see right hand illustration). Refit the cover over the roller brush and secure it (dia. 10). Tighten the locking screws. If the bristles on the roller brush are worn down any more the roller brush must be replaced with a new one. Replacing a drive belt(dia. 11) Loosen both locking screws under- neath the Electrobrush with a coin and then remove the roller cover(dia. 07).en

Remove the roller brush(dia. 08). Unscrew screws a underneath the Electrobrush and then separate the lower section b from the top sec- tionc(dia. 11). Replace the drive belt. Reassemble the Electrobrush in the reverse order. Replacing the mains cable If the mains cable is damaged, it must be replaced with a cable spe- cifically made for this Electrobrush. This cable can be purchased from your Miele supplier or from Miele dir- ectly.fr - Consignes de sécurité et mises en garde
