Frequently Asked Questions - MCL3LDFRT Magic Chef

How to use the Magic Chef MCL3LDFRT deep fryer?
Fill the pot with oil between the Min and Max marks. Place the lid, plug in the appliance, set the desired temperature with the control knob. Wait until the green light turns off to indicate the oil is at temperature, then gently lower the basket containing the food.
What types of oil can I use?
It is recommended to use liquid oil. Solid fats (lard) can be used after melting them at low temperature beforehand.
How to clean the deep fryer?
Let the appliance cool completely. Remove the heating element and control panel (do not immerse them). The pot and basket are dishwasher safe. Wipe the housing with a damp cloth.
How often should the oil be changed?
The oil should be changed after about 10 uses or if it becomes dark. Change all oil at once, do not mix new and used oil.
What to do if the fryer stops heating?
Check that the heating element is properly engaged (safety switch). If the zero thermostat has activated, press the reset button on the back of the control panel after cooling.
Can I use the fryer without oil?
No, the fryer must always be filled with oil between the Min and Max marks. Using it empty can damage the appliance and cause a fire.
Why does the oil overflow?
This may be due to excess oil (exceeding the Max mark) or an overfilled basket. Reduce the amount of oil or food.
How to avoid oil splashes?
Make sure the food is dry before placing it in the oil. Do not put water into hot oil. Lower the basket gently.
Can I store used oil?
Yes, filter the cooled oil to remove residues, then store it in an airtight container in a cool, dry place (not in the refrigerator). Change it after 10 uses.
What to do in case of a fire in the fryer?
Do not pour water! Close the lid to smother the flames and unplug the appliance. Use a damp cloth if necessary.

OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS

DEEP FRYING

  1. ALWAYS make sure the deep fryer is turned off when starting.

  2. Pour the oil into the bowl so that the fill level falls between the "Min" and Max" marks.

NOTE: It is recommended to use liquid oil. Lard or solid fats can be used, but must be melted prior to using by placing small pieces of it into the bowl and warming it on the lowest setting. Once it is fully melted, you can set the control to the required cooking temperature.

  1. Place the lid on the bowl.

  2. Attach the magnetic cord and plug the fryer in; the red power indicator will light.

  3. Set the desired temperature by turning the temperature control knob. The green heat indicator will light and remain lit while the fryer is heating up. Once the unit reaches the set temperature, the green heat indicator light will turn off.

NOTE: The heat indicator will turn on and off while the fryer is in use, as needed to maintain the selected temperature.

  1. DO NOT add food until the required temperature is reached.

  2. Remove the lid and carefully lower the basket with the food into the bowl. Make sure the oil level does not rise to the top of the bowl.

NOTE: ALWAYS hold the basket handle firmly when fitting or removing the lid.

CAUTION: When putting food into or removing it from the fryer, hot oil may splatter. Take care when removing the lid, as hot steam may be released.

There is a non-auto resetting thermostat built in the product. If the deep fryer has been in use for a prolonged time, the built-in thermostat will activate and cut off the current to protect the appliance from overheating. Reset the thermostat by pushing the indicated button on the back of the control panel, after the heating element has cooled down, to enable the deep fryer to function normally again.

AFTER COOKING

  1. Carefully lift the basket out of the oil and use the clips to hang it on the front edge of the bowl.

CAUTION: Handle may be hot after extended use.

  1. Allow the oil to drip from the food before removing from the basket.

  2. Set the temperature control knob to the lowest setting and unplug from the outlet.

  3. Allow the fryer to cool for at least 1-2 hours before emptying the oil, moving, or cleaning.

CAUTION: DO NOT attempt to move the deep fryer while it is hot.

FOOD PREPARATION TIPS

  • ALWAYS make sure that the food is dry before lowering it into the hot oil.
Ensure that the food is roughly the same size so that it cooks evenly. Avoid very thick pieces.
Some types of food should be breaded before being cooked in the deep fat fryer.
Make sure you remove as much ice as possible from frozen food. However, it does not need to be defrosted before cooking.
DO NOT fill the basket above the max mark on the metal plate under the handle.
