- Do not bend it, crush it or submerge it in liquids. • Do not leave it in direct sunlight or near a radiator or other source of heat. • Be sure to take an occasional rest break during extended play. • Keep this disc clean. Always hold the disc by the edges and keep it in its protective case when not in use. Clean the disc with a lint-free, soft, dry cloth, wiping in straight lines from center to outer edge. Never use solvents or abrasive cleaners.

Blood is power. Kill monsters to collect blood, and then use that blood to buy more moves to kill even more monsters.

GETTING STARTED

PlayStation®3 system

Starting a game: Before use, carefully read the instructions supplied with the PS3™ computer entertainment system. The documentation contains information on setting up and using your system as well as important safety information.

Check that the MAIN POWER switch (located on the system rear) is turned on. Insert the SPLATTERHOUSE ^® disc with the label facing up into the disc slot. Select the icon for the software title under [Game] in the PS3 ^TM system's home menu, and then press the ✗ button. Refer to this manual for information on using the software.

Quitting a game: During gameplay, press and hold down the PS button on the wireless controller for at least 2 seconds. Then select "Quit Game" from the screen that is displayed.

Hint

To remove a disc, touch the eject button after quitting the game.

Trophies: Earn, compare and share trophies that you earn by making specific in-game accomplishments. Trophies access requires a PlayStation ©Network account.

Saved data for PS3™ format software

Saved data for PS3™ format software is saved on the system's hard disk. The data is displayed under "Saved Game Utility" in the Game menu.

THE MASK IS CALLING

As a child Rick Taylor had sensed them; calling to him in the darkness, tearing at the walls that separate this world from the other. Then he met Jennifer, and in the light of her love his childish fears dissipated like a bad dream. When the evil Dr. Henry West kidnaps Jennifer, Rick is plunged once more into darkness. He discovers that the nightmare creatures of his childhood are waiting there for him. Left for dead on the floor of West Mansion, Rick makes a pact with the mysterious and

in return for one thing: blood, and lots of it. Rick is transformed into a brutal killer by the power of the Terror Mask. He pursues Dr. West on a journey through time and terror, battling hordes of the undead and risking his soul to save the woman he loves.

START NEW GAME: Begin your journey into the world of darkness.

Difficulty Setting: Select your difficulty level. Complete any difficulty to unlock the Brutal difficulty.

Brightness: Adjust the brightness of the image on your screen.

Mask Selection: We all wear masks in our lives. Rick is no different. Complete Story Mode to unlock a PlayStation®3 exclusive mask or head to Downloadable Content to check out other masks Rick can wear in combat.

CONTINUE: Pick up where you last left off.

SELECT CHAPTER: Replay levels you have already unlocked.

SURVIVAL ARENAS

Battle wave after wave of increasingly difficult enemy combinations and collect additional pictures of Jen.

DOWNLOADABLE CONTENT

Access and view content available for download.

OPTIONS

CONTROLS: Choose your controller layout.

PICTURE: Adjust the brightness of the image on your screen.

GAME OPTIONS: Toggle the subtitles and vibration, and adjust the camera controls.

SOUND: Adjust the volume for Music, Sound Effect, and Dialogue/Movies. Adjusting the volume of the Dialogue/Movies slider will adjust both in-game dialogue and the overall volume of the movies.

COLLECTIBLES

JOURNAL: View the pages collected from Dr. West's journal.

ALBUM: View all of the collected pieces and assembled pictures of Jennifer. Each picture tells a story, but don't forget to listen to the associated voice over.

STATS: Check your stats on in-game progress and performance.

CLASSICS: Unlock the classic versions of SPLATTERHOUSE, SPLATTERHOUSE 2, and SPLATTERHOUSE 3 by playing through Story Mode.

CREDITS: Check out all the people who worked on this game.

RICK TAYLOR

Rick may be having the worst day ever. First he finds out that there are monsters in the world. Then one of them kills him while a nefarious scientist—who is obviously up to no good-kidnapped his girlfriend. To top it off, Rick now has an ancient inter-dimensional being trapped on his face and the thing just won't shut up. Great.

Most people at the university think Jen is too hot for Rick, but she doesn't care much about what other people think. Now she is in a fight for her life and is dying to get back in the hands of her true love.

Dr. Henry West has been through hell. A hell darker than what anyone in the quiet town of Arkham could imagine. He is desperate to get the attention of Jennifer Willis but will she find out why before it is too late?

THE TERROR MASK

Banished from his own world, the Entity known as the Terror Mask is grateful to be awake again and hook up with such a motivated man like Rick. But the Terror Mask's motivations are a mystery to all but itself.

① HEALTH

Keep an eye on the health gauge. As Rick starts losing health he can use his abilities to regenerate his flesh, but if the gauge empties completely it's game over.

② NECRO METER

Each time Rick releases demons from this world the Terror Mask collects their Necro Energy. Check how much energy is stored by viewing the Necro Meter. Once one bar of the meter is full, Rick can use the Necro Energy at his discretion.

BERSERKER MODE

When the Terror Mask is over flowing with Necro Energy it is dying to take over Rick and do some killing of its own.

③ BLOOD COUNTER

All of the blood that is spilled by Rick can be used to feed the Terror Mask. Enter the skill upgrade screen by pressing the [SELECT] button and spend the accumulated blood to unlock new attacks, Necro Moves, more health, enhanced abilities, and more.

NECRO MOVES

The Terror Mask rewards Rick over time with particularly powerful moves. These moves require a sacrifice of Necro Energy to pull off. Make sure there is one full bar of the Necro Meter and then go to town. Unlock new Necro Moves by playing through the game or purchasing them in the skill upgrade screen.

PAUSE MENU

RESUME: Get back to the fight!

OPTIONS: Make adjustments to your settings.

CONTROLS: Get a refresher on Rick's best moves.

QUIT: Too chicken to continue? Then head back to the main menu.

SKILL UPGRADE SCREEN: Spend the hard earned blood Rick has spilled and feed the Terror Mask's blood lust by purchasing upgrades. Each upgrade has a cost listed and the blood Rick has collected while slaughtering demons can be used as currency.

MOVE LIST: View all the available moves, attacks, and abilities.

STATS: Track your progress on total kills, pictures collected, and more.

LIMITED WARRANTY: NAMCO BANDAI Games America Inc. warrants to the original purchaser that this NAMCO BANDAI Games America Inc. game pack shall be free from defects in material and workmanship for a period of ninety (90) days from the date of purchase. If a defect covered by this limited warranty occurs during this 90-day limited warranty period, NAMCO BANDAI Games America Inc. will repair or replace the defective game pack or component part, at its option, free of charge.
