IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS Please read these instructions carefully before using the appliance, and always follow the safety and operating instructions. Important: People (including children) who are not able to use the appliance in a safe way, due to their physical, sensorial or mental capacity or their lack of experience or knowledge, must never use the appliance except if they are supervised by a person responsible for their safety or if they previously received instructions concerning the safe use of the appliance. Never use the appliance near hot surfaces. Before cleaning and when you do not use the appliance, always unplug the appliance from the power supply. Do not attempt to remove the plug from the wall socket with wet hands. Never use the appliance outside and always place it in a dry environment. Never use accessories that are not recommended by the producer. They could constitute a danger to the user and risk to damage the appliance. Never move the appliance by pulling the cord. Make sure the cord cannot get caught in any way. Do not wind the cord around the appliance and do not bend it. No responsibility is accepted if damage results from improper use, or if these instructions are not complied with. Always position the heater in such a way that inflammable materials (such as curtains) cannot be ignited. Your appliance should be mounted at a height of at least 1.8m from the floor and at a distance of at least 30cm from the ceiling and at least 20cm from the side walls. Do not place the appliance directly under a power socket. The power socket must not be in the hot airflow of the appliance in order to avoid overheating. Never orient the appliance towards the ceiling, but orient it horizontally or downwards. This safeguard is primordial in order to avoid excessive heating of the ceiling that could result in the deterioration of its coating. Moreover, in such configuration, the position of the switch would no longer be visible. To avoid any risk of fire, do not cover the heater with clothes or any other object.

Warning: Do not operate the heater near baths, showers, washbasins, swimming pools or

any other water container. It must be impossible to reach the commands of your appliance when you are in contact with water.

Fax +32 2 359 95 50 Caution: the heater is to be installed at least 1m80 above the floor. During the assembly it is important to be especially careful not to touch the heating elements with your hands as this could leave spots which would diminish the thermal radiation.

The temperature of the protective rack may be very high when the appliance is in use. Avoid contact with the skin. Do not allow the power cord to touch any hot part of the appliance. Never use the appliance near inflammable or explosive materials. Do not insert any objects through the grille or into the interior of the appliance. Do not use double adapters or other appliances to connect with the heater. Do not use the heater in places where the atmosphere contains too much chlorine, sulphate dioxide or flammable gas. These elements may cause darkening or discoloration of the heating elements and the heating elements will eventually deteriorate and may result in arching during operation. (*) Competent qualified service: after-sales department of the producer or importer or any person who is qualified, approved and competent to perform this kind of repairs in order to avoid all danger. In case of need you should return the appliance to this service.

POSITIONING OF THE APPLIANCE

This heater is specially designed so that it can be used in any room in your house, including those where there is a risk of water being splashed onto it from above (kitchen, bathroom, etc.). However, the electrical installation in the room, the installation of the unit and the way the unit is used must all comply with the safety rules and safety standards in force in your country. The safety rules define 3 volumes in a bathroom (see diagram on page 2). This unit must only be installed in zone 3 of the room so that the selector button cannot be touched by anyone using the bath or shower. For other rooms in the house, please follow this rule: The heater should only be operated at a minimum distance of 60cm from any other object. Position the air flow in order to optimise the heating of the room. Avoid corners, small volumes, floors and ceilings. Caution: the heater is to be installed at least 1m80 above the floor. WALL-MOUNTING (SEE PICTURES ON PAGE 3) Make sure all the packaging has been removed before any operation. This appliance is intended to be wall-mounted. For wall-mounting, proceed as follows:

• Remove the front cover of the wall-mounting bracket by loosening its two screws.

• Incline the wall-mounting bracket to the lowest position in order to have access to the two upper holes of the wall-mounting bracket. Hold the bracket against the wall, take a pencil and mark a dot in each hole of the bracket. Then incline the appliance to the highest position, hold the bracket against the wall, making sure the upper holes come over the dots you just marked, and mark dots in the same way in the lower holes of the bracket.

• Take the bracket off the wall, drill a hole on the four dots you just marked and insert the plugs in these holes.

• Hold the appliance against the wall and tighten the screws provided through the holes of the bracket, adjusting the inclination of the appliance if necessary. Once the appliance is mounted on the wall, close the front cover of the wall-mounting bracket with its two screws.

• The appliance is now ready for use.

You can see the position of the switch through the window situated on the front of the appliance, above the pull cord switch. To change the position, pull at the cord till you hear a click, and then release the cord. Positions: 0 OFF 1 Minimum power (600W) 2 Maximum power (1200W) If you notice that there are slight vibrations when turning on the appliance, which then gradually fade away, do not become unduly alarmed. This is part of the normal behaviour of the appliance. INCLINATION You can incline your appliance over an angle of approximately 45°. To do so, wait until the appliance has cooled down and hold the appliance by the sides, not by the protective rack. Never force. GUARANTEE Never move the appliance while it is operating and make sure it does not fall, as this could destroy the tubes. No guarantee claims will be accepted in case of non-observance of these instructions.

• Always switch off the appliance and unplug it and wait until it has totally cooled down before cleaning it.

• Clean the housing with a dry cloth.

• If necessary you can use a vacuum cleaner to remove the dust particles situated behind the protective rack.

• During cleaning, be careful not to touch the quartz heating elements.

• Never immerse the appliance into water or any other liquid.
