General Safety Instructions

Read the operating instructions carefully before putting the appliance into operation and keep the instructions including the warranty, the receipt and, if possible, the box with the internal packing. If you give this device to other people, please also pass on the operating instructions.

  • The appliance is designed exclusively for private use and for the envisaged purpose. This appliance is not fit for commercial use. Do not use it outdoors (except if it is designed to be used outdoors). Keep it away from sources of heat, direct sunlight, humidity (never dip it into any liquid) and sharp edges. Do not use the appliance with wet hands. If the appliance is humid or wet, unplug it immediately.
  • When cleaning or putting it away, switch off the appliance and always pull out the plug from the socket (pull on the plug, not the cable) if the appliance is not being used and remove the attached accessories.
  • Do not operate the machine without supervision. If you should leave the workplace, always switch the machine off or remove the plug from the socket (pull the plug itself, not the lead).
  • Check the appliance and the cable for damage on a regular basis. Do not use the appliance if it is damaged.
  • Do not try to repair the appliance on your own. Always contact an authorized technician. To avoid the exposure to danger, always have a faulty cable be replaced only by the manufacturer, by our customer service or by a qualified person and with a cable of the same type.

Children and Frail Individuals

  • In order to ensure your children's safety, please keep all packaging (plastic bags, boxes, polystyrene etc.) out of their reach.
    Caution! Do not allow small children to play with the foil as there is a danger of suffocation!
  • In order to protect children or frail individuals from the hazards of electrical equipment, please ensure that this device is only used under supervision. This device is not a toy. Do not allow small children to play with it.

Special Safety Instructions for this Machine

  • Place the coffee machine on a firm and fl at surface. Position the device such that it cannot tip over.
  • Fill the water tank only with cold water!
  • Never open the filter cover while the coffee is percolating as otherwise this may cause burns.
  • Steam is emitted from above the fi lter holder during operation! This may lead to the formation of condensation on the upper cover of the device. This is normal and does not affect the correct functioning of the device!
  • Do not place the machine directly next to a gas or electric cooker or any other source of heat.

  • Do not move the machine when it is in operation.

  • Before you open the filter cover you should switch the device off and allow it to cool down for at least 30 seconds!
  • The hot plate and the coffee pot become very hot. Danger of scalding!

Before Initial Use

  • Remove all the packaging and transport protections from the device. Wipe all the parts with a moist cloth to remove all the dust that may have deposited on and in the device during transport. Then mount the device again by proceeding in the opposite order.
  • Carry out 2 or 3 cycles with cold water only to clean the device before brewing the first cup of coffee.

Electrical Connection

  • Before inserting the mains lead into the socket, check whether the voltage you intend to use complies with that of the machine.
  • Only connect the machine to a properly installed safety socket, 230 V/50 Hz. For details see the machine label.
  • Make sure that the machine is switched off. The run and auto lights must be off.

First Use of the Machine

After you have inserted the plug into the socket the display lights up in blue and the number 12:00 appears. After approx. 15 seconds the display switches off automatically. If a button is pressed the display lights up again in blue.

Set the time (24h)

Press the prog button once. "CLOCK" appears in the display.

Set the hours: press the „hr“ button.

Set the minutes: press the „min“ button.

In order to leave the adjustment mode press the prog button twice or wait for 10 seconds.

  1. Pull the lid of the water tank forwards. Now fi ll a quantity of cold water into the rear water container that corresponds to the required number of cups, as shown on the water level indicator on the glass pot. You should not fi ll this above the MAX mark.
  2. Fold the paper fi liter (size 1x4) along the lower folding line and then place it in the fi liter funnel. Then fi ll it with coffee powder.
  3. Please close the lid of the water tank.
  4. Place the pot evenly on the base. Please ensure that the lid is on the pot.
  5. Your appliance is provided with a drip stop. By removing the pot, before the water runs through the fi liter completely, it avoids that the coffee drips on the base. If there is still water in the tank or fi liter, make sure that the pot is placed back under the fi liter to avoid overfl owing.
  6. Turn the device on or program the timer as described below.
  7. The pot can be removed as soon as no further coffee drips into it.

  8. If you would like to keep the rest of the coffee warm, the run LED must light up. The hotplate keeps the coffee warm for up to two hours or until you switch the device off.

  9. You can remove the coffee fi liter by the clip in order to dispose of the paper fi liter. You should then reinsert the coffee fi liter correctly.

Switching on the coffee machine directly

  1. Please follow the instructions under points 1-4 „Initial Operation“.

a) Press the on/off button once. The red run light (for immediate percolation) illuminates and the device is switched on. The display lights up in blue.
b) The unit switches itself off automatically about two hours after the brewing.
c) The unit is switched off when both LEDs are off.

  1. If you wish to switch the unit off manually or to deactivate the timer, press the on/off button repeatedly until both LEDs go out.

Automatic operation

  1. Please follow the instructions under points 1-4 „Initial Operation“.
  2. Set the switch on time (24h):

a) Press the prog button twice. „TIMER" appears in the display.
b) Set the hours: press the „hr“ button.
c) Set the minutes: press the „min“ button.
d) In order to leave the adjustment mode press the prog button once or wait for 10 seconds.

  1. If you have programmed the device, press the on/off button twice. The green LED lights up next to auto (automatic). The device switches itself on at the set time (the red run lamp is on).
  2. If you wish to switch the unit off manually or to deactivate the timer, press the on/off button repeatedly until both LEDs go out.

Descaling

  • Descaling is necessary when the time needed to prepare coffee becomes considerably longer.
  • Only commercially available descaling products based on citric acid should be used.

Cleaning

Before cleaning the machine you should always remove the mains lead and wait until the machine has cooled down.

  • The machine should only be cleaned with a slightly damp cloth.
  • Do not use any strong detergents or solvents for cleaning.
  • The coffee pot and the filter pad should be cleaned by rinsing in cold water.
