How to check the ink level on an HP Deskjet 2545 printer?
Frequently Asked Questions - 11/03/2026
Response Notice-Facile

Your HP Deskjet 2545 printer uses HP 301 ink cartridges (black and color). To check the ink level, you have several simple and immediate methods.

Checking via the control panel lights: On the front panel of your printer, the Cartridge lights indicate a low ink level or a problem affecting a cartridge. Observe these lights that turn on or blink to quickly identify the status of your cartridges. This method is the most direct and requires no additional equipment.

Checking from your computer: Install the HP software provided with your printer (available on the installation CD or downloadable from www.hp.com/ePrint/DJ2540). Once installed and your printer connected via USB or Wi-Fi, open the HP software to access the "Ink Level" or "Printer Status" section. The software displays an accurate estimate of the remaining ink levels for each cartridge.

Checking via the HP Smart app: Download the free HP Smart app on your smartphone or tablet (iOS and Android). Connect it to your printer by placing it on the same Wi-Fi network, then access the ink levels section to check your cartridges in real-time, even remotely.

Important: Note that ink from cartridges is consumed differently depending on the printing processes, and each cartridge retains a residual amount of ink after use. Even when a light indicates a low level, you can generally continue to print for a while before complete replacement.
