USE
Cooking with one steam bowl
Fill the water reservoir with cold tap water up to the required marking. Never fill the reservoir above the max. indication.
Place the drip tray on the base.
Place herbs on the metal grid in the centre of the drip tray, to add more flavour to the food
Place the food inside the steam bowl and place the lid on top.
Place the bowl on the base. Insert the plug into the socket and select the desired steaming time, max. 60 min. When the steaming time is over you'll hear a bel signal, the power indicator light will go out and the appliance will turn off automatically.
There may still be water left in the reservoir.
Note : when the selected steam time is under 15 min. turn the timer knob fi rst over 15 min. and than lower it again to the desired steaming time.
When cooking in the rice bowl, add rice, water and herbs directly in the bowl. Fill up the reservoir till the required amount of water
De rice bowl can also be used for cooking vegetables, other kinds of food with sauce, fi sh in water or heating up already prepared food
Note : Always use the drip tray when not using the rice bowl. It prevents juices from the food, dripping into the water and be evaporated again. You can use the collected juices for the making of sauce or soup.
Cooking with more steam bowls
It is possible to prepare several kinds of food, by using more than one steam bowl. When preparing products with different steam times, you put the food that needs the most steam time in the bottom steam bowl. If the timer indicates the steam time for the other food, take of the lid using an oven mitt, place the other steam bowl on top of the bottom steam bowl. Close the lid and continue the steaming.
Always cook meat, fish or poultry in the bottom steam bowl. This to prevent the juice dripping on to the other food
For the best result we also recommend to steam rice in the bottom steam bowl. When steaming rice together with meat, fish or poultry, you must place the rice in the top steam bowl.
When no more steam is being produced, but the timer is still running, check the water reservoir. You might have to add more water
Every steam bowl also has small holes for steaming 8 eggs.
MAINTENANCE
Bowls, lid and drip tray :
Wash them in soapy water and dry them thoroughly. These parts can also be cleaned in the dishwasher but only on the top rack.
Water reservoir :
Pour warm soapy water into the reservoir. Clean with a soft brush or cloth. Rinse thoroughly with clean water.
The heating element :
After some time the heating element may be scaled. Clean it as follows :
- Don't place any accessories on the base
- Pour vinegar into the reservoir up to the max. indication
- Make sure that the solution doesn't boil over or gets spilled
- After the bell signal, remove the plug from the socket and pour out the vinegar
- Clean out the reservoir thoroughly with clean warm water
The inside of the water reservoir and the drip tray can change colour in time, when you use herbs often. This is normal.
Outside of the base :
Clean the outside of the steamer and the cord with a damp cloth and dry thoroughly. Don't ever immerse the base in water or any other liquid.
Note : Don't use any bleach or aggressive cleaners to clean any part of the unit.
FLAVOUR TIPS :
You can add herbs on the metal grill in the centre of the drip tray to add more fl avou to the food without adding salt.
You can add 12 too 3 teaspoons of dried herbs. When using fresh herbs, chop the leaves first and triple the amount
To prevent small herbs to fall through the metal grill, make the grill wet first before putting on the herbs.
