How to connect the Little Big Disk 2TB to my Mac?

Connect a Thunderbolt cable to the drive and to a Thunderbolt port on your Mac. Plug in the external power supply. The drive will appear on the desktop.

Can I change the RAID configuration?

Yes, via Mac OS X Disk Utility, you can change from RAID 0 (default) to RAID 1 (mirror) to protect your data, but this reduces capacity and performance.

How to safely eject the drive?

Before disconnecting, drag the drive icon to the trash or click 'Eject' in Finder. Wait until the indicator light turns off.

Is this drive compatible with Windows?

It is preformatted in HFS+ for Mac. For use on Windows, you will need to reformat it to exFAT or NTFS, which will erase all data.

How many devices can I daisy chain via Thunderbolt?

Thunderbolt technology supports up to 7 devices in a chain, including the computer. The drive's second port allows connecting additional devices.

What to do if the blue light does not turn on?

Check that the AC adapter is plugged in and the Thunderbolt cable is properly connected. If the problem persists, contact LaCie support.

Can I use a non-supplied Thunderbolt cable?

Preferably use a compatible, high-quality Thunderbolt cable. Using an inappropriate cable may cause connection or performance issues.

How to format the drive for another use?

Use Mac OS X Disk Utility. Select the drive, click 'Erase', and choose the desired format (exFAT for Windows/Mac, or APFS for Mac). Note: this erases all data.

What is the maximum operating temperature?

Do not exceed 35°C (95°F). Avoid direct sunlight exposure and do not place the drive in a confined space without ventilation.

What is the warranty period?

The warranty covers defects in materials and workmanship for the period stated on your warranty certificate. It takes effect from the shipment date. Repair or replacement is at LaCie's discretion.

Setup Steps

1. Connect a cable that supports Thunderbolt technology to one of the Little Big Disk Thunderbolt Series interface ports (Fig. 1). Plug the other end of the cable to a compatible Thunderbolt technology port on your Macintosh computer. The additional interface port on the Little Big Disk Thunderbolt Series may be used to daisy chain compatible devices.

NOTE: Thunderbolt technology supports up to seven devices on a daisy chain, including the computer.

1. Connect the included external power supply to a power outlet and to the Little Big Disk Thunderbolt Series (Fig. 2). The device will turn on automatically when it receives power.

2. The Little Big Disk Thunderbolt Series storage will mount on your Mac desktop.

NOTE: The two internal disks are preconfigured as a Striped RAID Set (RAID 0) and preformatted as HFS+ Journaled for Mac. Mac OS X presents a Striped RAID Set as a single drive icon on the Desktop.

RAID: You have the option to adjust the RAID configuration as a Mirrored RAID Set for data protection using Mac OS X Disk Utility. Please note that a Mirrored RAID Set copies the same files to each disk, affecting the transfer rate speed and the available capacity. See the User Manual for further information on RAID.

NOTE: Eject the partition(s) from the Mac Desktop before disconnecting the Little Big Disk Thunderbolt Series from your computer. See the User Manual for details.

Activity LED / Power Button

The blue LED acts as:

- An indicator of disk activity

Precautions

Do not stack the Little Big Disk. Do not expose the Little Big Disk to temperatures over 35^ C ( 95^ F). Do not expose the device to liquids. Use only the power supply shipped with the device.

Warranty Information

LaCie warrants your product against any defect in material and workmanship, under normal use, for the designated warranty period. The warranty becomes effective from the date of shipment. In the event this product is found to be defective within the warranty period, LaCie will, at its discretion, repair or replace the defective product.

This warranty is void if:

• The product was operated/stored in abnormal use or maintenance conditions;
• The product is repaired, modified or altered, unless LaCie expressly authorizes such repair, modification or alteration in writing;
• The product was subjected to abuse, neglect, electrical fault, improper packaging, accident or acts of nature;
  • The product was installed improperly;
• The serial number of the product is defaced or missing;
• The broken part is a replacement part such as a pickup tray, etc.
• The tamper seal on the casing is broken.
